The Cambridge Audio Evo One is the closest complete-system alternative to the PSB iQ2. It combines amplification, a multi-driver speaker array, network streaming, HDMI eARC and a moving-magnet phono stage in one cabinet. The important trade-off is format: the iQ2 is a pair of powered stereo speakers, while the Evo One is a single enclosure.

If you want to choose your own passive speakers, look instead at the Naim Uniti Nova or Bluesound POWERNODE. Both are streaming amplifiers rather than complete speaker systems, so the amplifier is only part of the purchase.

At a glance: which PSB iQ2 alternative fits?

Model System format Best suited to What you still need
Cambridge Audio Evo One Single-cabinet complete system A buyer replacing separates with one enclosure and broad streaming, TV and vinyl connectivity Only source devices and network access
Naim Uniti Nova Premium streaming amplifier Someone who wants a high-end control and amplification hub for selected passive speakers A pair of passive speakers
Bluesound POWERNODE BluOS streaming amplifier A modular system built around BluOS multiroom and HDMI eARC A pair of passive speakers
PSB iQ2 Two powered stereo speakers A compact stereo pair with built-in amplification, BluOS and source inputs Source devices and network access

This is a feature and format comparison, not a sound-quality ranking. The available material includes manufacturer specifications and one independent iQ2 review, but no controlled listening test or laboratory comparison between these systems.

What the PSB iQ2 already includes

The iQ2 is not a passive-speaker package waiting for an amplifier. PSB builds amplification, a high-resolution DAC, BluOS streaming and two stereo channels into the pair. The left and right cabinets communicate over a low-latency wireless link, so you can place them apart for conventional stereo without running a speaker cable between them.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

PSB lists 270 W of total system power, a 64 Hz–20 kHz on-axis response at ±3 dB and a 35 Hz -10 dB low-frequency cutoff. Those are the manufacturer’s published figures, not an independent measurement or a guarantee of identical results in every room.

Physical and wireless sources include a moving-magnet phono input, HDMI eARC, optical, BluOS and Bluetooth aptX Adaptive. PSB says the BluOS app provides access to more than 20 streaming services and can manage playback in one room or across multiple rooms. The iQ2 was announced on June 23, 2026, as part of the iQ series.

Cambridge Audio Evo One: the most direct complete-system alternative

The Evo One is the clearest choice when “all in one” means one cabinet with the major source and playback functions already installed. Cambridge Audio specifies 14 drivers, 700 W of Class-D amplification and an integrated 32-bit/192 kHz DAC. It also includes a moving-magnet phono stage, HDMI eARC, optical input, local USB media playback, Wi-Fi and Ethernet.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why it matches the iQ2 brief

  • It combines the amplifier and speakers, so there is no separate passive-speaker purchase.
  • HDMI eARC supports a television connection, while optical covers older digital sources.
  • The built-in phono stage accepts a moving-magnet cartridge without an external phono preamp.
  • Wi-Fi and Ethernet provide network options, and USB allows local music playback.
  • Its streaming and multiroom support spans several ecosystems rather than relying on one service.

Cambridge lists TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music through Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Roon Ready. Multiroom can use Google Cast, AirPlay 2 or Roon.

The format trade-off

The Evo One is physically and acoustically different from the iQ2. A single enclosure cannot be positioned like two independent left and right speakers. That may be an advantage when you want a clean installation on a cabinet, but it gives you less freedom to spread the stereo image across a room. The published specifications do not establish that one format sounds better than the other.

Naim Uniti Nova: a premium hub for separately chosen speakers

The Uniti Nova is aimed at a different buyer. Naim describes it as a streaming amplifier and an “all in one player,” but it does not replace the passive speakers in a conventional separates system. You choose those speakers separately and connect them to the Nova’s amplifier outputs.

When the Nova makes sense

  • You already own passive speakers you like or want to select speakers for a particular room.
  • You prefer an amplifier-centered system that can be upgraded by changing speakers later.
  • Your main streaming services are covered by Naim’s listed protocols.
  • You accept that the final system cost and physical footprint depend on the speakers you add.

Because the Nova is not a powered-speaker pair, comparing its amplifier rating directly with the iQ2’s total-system figure does not predict which complete system will play louder or sound better. Speaker sensitivity, impedance, room size and listening distance all affect the result.

Bluesound POWERNODE: the modular BluOS route

The POWERNODE is a streaming amplifier for a “just add speakers” system. The cited generation announcement lists BluOS multiroom, HDMI eARC and 80 W per channel. You supply passive speakers, then use the amplifier as the system’s streaming and television hub.

Why BluOS owners may prefer it

  • It keeps the BluOS interface and multiroom approach familiar to anyone considering the iQ2.
  • HDMI eARC provides a straightforward television connection.
  • Passive speakers can be selected for the room, appearance or future upgrade plans.

Check the exact POWERNODE generation before relying on a specification. The cited 80 W-per-channel and eARC details refer to a particular generation announcement, and product revisions can change inputs or capabilities.

Core specification comparison

System Amplification or power figure Speaker arrangement DAC or driver information
PSB iQ2 270 W total system power Two powered stereo cabinets linked wirelessly High-resolution DAC; 64 Hz–20 kHz on-axis response at ±3 dB; 35 Hz -10 dB low-frequency cutoff
Cambridge Audio Evo One 700 W Class-D amplification One cabinet 14 drivers; 32-bit/192 kHz DAC
Naim Uniti Nova 80 W per channel into 8 ohms Amplifier only; passive speakers required Speaker performance depends on the speakers selected
Bluesound POWERNODE 80 W per channel in the cited generation announcement Amplifier only; passive speakers required Speaker performance depends on the speakers selected

These figures come from the respective manufacturers and are not directly interchangeable measurements. A total-system wattage, per-channel rating and driver count describe different parts of a design; none is a controlled sound-quality score.

Inputs, streaming and multiroom differences

For television and physical sources

The iQ2, Evo One and POWERNODE all list HDMI eARC, making them suitable for a television with an eARC output. The iQ2 and Evo One also list optical input. The Evo One adds local USB media playback, while the iQ2 lists a moving-magnet phono input and Bluetooth aptX Adaptive. The Nova has HDMI plus analog and digital inputs, but the specific input mix differs from the powered-speaker systems.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

Before buying, write down every source you actually use: television, turntable, game console, CD transport, network storage and phone. Then check whether each device has the required output and whether the chosen system provides the matching input. HDMI eARC is not interchangeable with a standard analog line input, and a turntable with a moving-coil cartridge is not automatically compatible with a moving-magnet phono stage.

For streaming services

The iQ2 and POWERNODE are built around BluOS. The Evo One combines its own network platform with TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Deezer, Google Cast, AirPlay 2 and Roon Ready. The Nova lists AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast, Qobuz, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL and UPnP.

Service support can change independently of hardware. Confirm the current app, account and regional availability for your preferred service, especially if you rely on a less common catalog or want gapless playback, high-resolution tiers or voice control.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For multiroom playback

BluOS provides the multiroom path for the iQ2 and POWERNODE. Evo One can use Google Cast, AirPlay 2 or Roon for multiroom, while the Nova’s listed protocols include AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon and UPnP. Mixed-brand rooms may require separate apps or a protocol shared by every device, so decide whether one household-wide platform matters more than individual component choice.

Choose by system format, not wattage alone

Choose two powered speakers when stereo placement is the priority

The iQ2’s two-cabinet layout lets you adjust left-right spacing and toe-in independently. It is the natural format for a listener who wants a conventional stereo image without buying a separate amplifier. The wireless inter-speaker link reduces cable clutter, but both cabinets still need stable power and a sensible position relative to the listening seat.

Choose one cabinet when installation simplicity matters most

The Evo One minimizes equipment count and keeps the system’s connections in one place. It suits a living room where a single cabinet under a television or on a console is preferable to two speaker stands. The compromise is less physical separation between channels and fewer placement choices.

Choose a streaming amplifier when speakers are part of the plan

The Nova and POWERNODE make sense when the speaker is not an afterthought. They allow you to select passive speakers for sensitivity, impedance, size, finish and future upgrades. Remember to budget space and money for the speaker pair, speaker cable and any stands; neither amplifier is a complete system by itself.

Room placement and practical setup

No source here supports a universal room-size recommendation, so treat placement as a design decision rather than a product promise.

  1. Measure the listening area. Note the distance from the main seat to the planned speaker or cabinet position, the width available between furniture and the distance to the nearest wall.
  2. Choose the enclosure format. Select the iQ2 when separated stereo speakers fit the room; select the Evo One when one cabinet is easier; select the Nova or POWERNODE when passive speakers are the key choice.
  3. Check power and network access. Powered speakers and one-box systems need nearby mains outlets. Network streaming requires dependable Wi-Fi or an Ethernet route; the Evo One specifically lists both Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
  4. Plan the television connection. Use HDMI eARC when the television supports it. Confirm that the television’s audio output is set to eARC and that control features work with the chosen system.
  5. Connect physical sources. Attach a turntable only if its cartridge and grounding requirements match the listed phono input, or use the required external phono stage. Connect optical, analog, USB or digital sources according to the device’s output.
  6. Configure the streaming platform. Install the relevant app, update firmware, sign in to services and assign the system to a room. For multiroom use, verify that every device belongs to the same supported ecosystem or protocol.
  7. Position and verify. For a stereo pair, start with equal distances to the listening seat and adjust toe-in. For a single cabinet, keep its drivers clear of nearby obstructions. Play both a streamed track and each important physical source before final cable management.

Vinyl users should examine the phono stage carefully

Both the iQ2 and Evo One specify an integrated moving-magnet phono stage. That removes the need for a separate phono preamp when the turntable uses a compatible moving-magnet cartridge.

TechRadar’s review of the iQ2, published July 10, 2026, found the system energetic and engaging through most input options but described the phono stage as less lively than the other inputs. It also noted the iQ2’s compact dimensions and rear-facing bass port. Those are the reviewer’s listening and design observations, not a controlled comparison with the Evo One, Nova or POWERNODE.

If vinyl is your main source, compare the built-in phono input with your expectations and cartridge. An external phono stage may be worth considering, but verify electrical compatibility and available line-level inputs before purchasing one.

What the independent evidence can—and cannot—tell you

The single independent iQ2 review provides useful context about everyday input behavior and the cabinet’s physical design. It does not establish a ranking against the alternatives because the products were not tested side by side under controlled conditions.

  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

Manufacturer specifications are similarly useful for checking connections, formats and rated power, but they do not account for room acoustics, speaker sensitivity, listening distance or personal preference. Treat the numbers as compatibility and design information rather than proof of a sonic winner.

Buying checklist for a premium all-in-one system

  • Decide whether speakers must be included. Evo One and iQ2 are complete speaker systems; Nova and POWERNODE require passive speakers.
  • List essential inputs. Confirm HDMI eARC, phono, optical, USB, analog and Bluetooth requirements against your actual equipment.
  • Match the streaming platform. Check your services, multiroom devices and preferred control method before committing to BluOS, Cast, AirPlay or Roon-based operation.
  • Account for room layout. Two cabinets offer wider placement options; one cabinet reduces furniture and cable demands; an amplifier-plus-speaker system offers the most component flexibility.
  • Check vinyl compatibility. Verify moving-magnet versus moving-coil cartridge requirements and whether an external phono stage will be needed.
  • Verify the exact generation. This is especially important for the POWERNODE, whose cited specifications refer to a particular generation announcement.
  • Confirm local purchase conditions. Prices, stock, retailer terms and territory were not established in the available specifications, so check current local listings before ordering.

Which alternative should you choose?

Choose Cambridge Audio Evo One for the simplest complete replacement

It is the strongest match for a reader who wants one purchase containing speakers, amplification, streaming, television connectivity and moving-magnet phono. Its one-cabinet design is the defining compromise, not a hidden specification difference.

Choose Naim Uniti Nova for a premium component-led system

The Nova is appropriate when selecting passive speakers is part of the enjoyment or when an existing speaker pair should remain in the system. It is not a powered-speaker substitute until those speakers are added.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Bluesound POWERNODE for a BluOS-based modular system

The POWERNODE is the logical path when BluOS multiroom is important but you want passive speakers rather than a fixed powered-speaker pair. Confirm the generation and complete the system with suitable speakers.

Keep the PSB iQ2 when separated stereo and built-in BluOS matter

The iQ2 already covers the central all-in-one brief with two powered cabinets, a DAC, BluOS, HDMI eARC and moving-magnet phono. Its main reasons to stay on the shortlist are the stereo-pair format and the desire to avoid choosing a separate amplifier and passive speakers.

At the June 23, 2026 launch, PSB product manager Mack Tommy said, “There is a growing segment of customers that want true high-fidelity sound without the complexity of traditional separates, and iQ is our answer to that shift.” That statement explains the product’s intended audience; it is not independent evidence of performance.
