First, a correction: POCA PINE Beat is a portable outdoor Bluetooth speaker, not a pair of earbuds. If you want a speaker with a different sound, protection rating or battery approach, the two alternatives identified in the October 12, 2026 Trusted Reviews comparison are the JBL Flip 7 and Marshall Emberton III. The reviewer’s view that they sound better is a listening judgment, not a controlled laboratory ranking.
This guide compares those models with PINE Beat using the published specifications and the review’s dated UK price and battery observation. Manufacturer battery figures use different conditions, so they should not be treated as an apples-to-apples test.

Quick answer: which PINE Beat alternative fits you?
| Speaker | Best fit | Key published claims | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| JBL Flip 7 | You want a compact, rugged speaker with the newer Auracast multi-speaker feature and a driver arrangement that includes a woofer and tweeter. | IP68 protection, advertised waterproof and drop-proof construction, up to 14 hours of playback or up to 16 hours with Playtime Boost. | Those figures and the protection rating are JBL claims. Playback varies with volume and audio content, and the 14/16-hour figures are not a standardized comparison with PINE Beat. |
| Marshall Emberton III | You prioritize the longest stated runtime and a stereo-oriented presentation in a distinctive portable design. | IP67, Bluetooth 5.3 LE, True Stereophonic stereo sound, 32+ hours of playtime; 20 minutes of charging is claimed to provide six hours, with a two-hour full charge. | These are Marshall specifications, not an independently verified head-to-head result. The 32+ hour claim uses conditions that are not stated as identical to JBL’s or POCA’s. |
| POCA PINE Beat | You value a replaceable battery, repairability and a 3.5 mm wired input more than a consensus sound ranking. | IP67, Bluetooth 5.3 limited to SBC, four EQ modes, USB-C charging, 3.5 mm input, power-bank function and a replaceable battery. POCA states 5–30 hours depending on use. | Trusted Reviews estimated about 16 hours from a three-hour session at 50% volume. That is one reviewer’s test-based estimate, not a guarantee or a standardized rival comparison. |
Choose the Flip 7 when drop protection and Auracast matter most; choose Emberton III when the manufacturer’s long-runtime claim and stereo presentation are your priorities; keep PINE Beat in contention when you expect to replace the battery or use its analog input.

POCA presents PINE Beat as an outdoor-focused portable Bluetooth speaker. Its product family includes the speaker and accessories called CORD, PEG and MAG Base, plus a separate Extra Battery Pack. The design emphasis is durability, repairability and flexible mounting rather than the in-ear listening experience implied by the original title.

The October 12, 2026 Trusted Reviews article lists an IP67 rating, Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC as the supported codec, four EQ presets (Outdoor, Extra Bass, Audiobook and Indoor), USB-C charging, a 3.5 mm input, a power-bank function and a replaceable battery. PINE Beat Party Mode works with other PINE Beat speakers only, so it is a closed speaker ecosystem rather than a general Bluetooth broadcast feature.
PINE Beat’s battery information
POCA states a playback range of 5–30 hours depending on use. In the review, a three-hour listening session at 50% volume suggested roughly 16 hours in total. Because that estimate comes from one reviewer’s session, it can be affected by the music, volume, temperature, battery age and other settings; it should not be read as a laboratory result or a promise that every owner will obtain 16 hours.
The dated price baseline
Trusted Reviews listed the speaker at £129.95 in the UK on October 12, 2026. That is a price recorded on that date and in that market, not a current worldwide price. Retail pricing, regional stock and the availability of the Extra Battery Pack can change, so check the seller and region before treating the figure as a buying threshold.

Why the JBL Flip 7 is a credible alternative
The Trusted Reviews comparison names JBL Flip 7 as a better-sounding option than PINE Beat. That statement reflects the reviewer’s listening assessment; it is not a controlled frequency-response measurement and does not establish that every listener or genre will prefer it.
Protection for wet and rough use
JBL describes Flip 7 as waterproof and drop-proof and gives it an IP68 rating. IP ratings describe resistance to dust and water under defined test conditions; the number is not a universal guarantee against every fall, impact, depth or duration. IP68 is also not directly interchangeable with PINE Beat’s IP67 rating, because the exact test conditions and manufacturer claims can differ. The additional drop-proof claim is a separate construction claim rather than part of the IP code.
Drivers and listening features
JBL’s product material identifies both a woofer and a tweeter. That gives buyers a clearer description of the speaker’s driver layout than a generic “full-range” label, but it still does not predict a particular room, distance or music preference. Flip 7 also supports Auracast multi-speaker connections, which can be useful if you plan to expand beyond one speaker and want a compatible broadcast-style system.
Battery claim and Playtime Boost
JBL advertises up to 14 hours of playback, or up to 16 hours with Playtime Boost. Its specification sheet notes that playback depends on volume and audio content. “Up to” is a maximum under the manufacturer’s stated conditions, not a guaranteed runtime at a particular loudness. Since POCA publishes a broad 5–30-hour range and Trusted Reviews observed about 16 hours at 50% volume, neither number can be used as a direct winner without matching test conditions.

Why the Marshall Emberton III is a credible alternative
Trusted Reviews also names Marshall Emberton III as better sounding than PINE Beat, again as that reviewer’s comparative listening opinion rather than an independently measured consensus.
Sound presentation and wireless specification
Marshall lists stereo True Stereophonic sound and Bluetooth 5.3 LE. True Stereophonic is Marshall’s own stereo system description; it should not be assumed to be the same multi-speaker protocol as JBL Auracast or PINE Beat Party Mode. The practical result depends on speaker placement, listening distance and the source device.
Durability
Emberton III carries an IP67 dust and water-resistance rating. That is the same headline IP level cited for PINE Beat, but equal numbers do not prove equal construction, drop resistance or real-world durability. Marshall’s published material does not supply the separate drop-proof claim that JBL advertises for Flip 7.
Runtime and charging
Marshall lists 32+ hours of playtime. It also says a 20-minute charge provides six hours of playtime and that a full charge takes two hours. These are manufacturer claims; the conditions are not presented as a standardized test shared with JBL or POCA. The 32+ hour figure is therefore best used as an indication of Marshall’s intended endurance, not as proof that it will last more than twice as long as every Flip 7 or PINE Beat session.

How to choose between the three speakers
Choose JBL Flip 7 for impact protection and Auracast
Flip 7 is the most straightforward choice if your speaker will regularly travel in a bag, near water or into situations where accidental drops are plausible. Its IP68 rating and JBL’s separate drop-proof claim address two different concerns, while Auracast gives you a documented route to compatible multi-speaker connections. Select it when those practical features outweigh the uncertainty of comparing “up to 14” or “up to 16” hours with other brands’ figures.
Choose Marshall Emberton III for the longest stated endurance
Emberton III suits listeners who want the strongest published battery claim among these three models and who like Marshall’s True Stereophonic approach. The quick-charge statement is useful if you often discover a flat battery shortly before leaving: Marshall says 20 minutes can provide six hours. Treat both that number and 32+ hours as manufacturer estimates under their own conditions, not as a promise at maximum volume.

Keep PINE Beat for a replaceable battery and analog input
PINE Beat remains the better fit when ownership over several years matters more than a reviewer’s sound preference. A replaceable battery can delay a complete speaker replacement, and the 3.5 mm input supports a wired source that may be useful with devices or environments where Bluetooth is inconvenient. Its power-bank function can also help charge another device. Confirm that the Extra Battery Pack is available and compatible before assuming the serviceability benefit is practical in your region.

Prioritize sound only with a return option
The only sourced “better-sounding” comparison comes from one reviewer’s listening assessment. Room acoustics, placement, genre, mastering and personal taste can change the result. If sound is your deciding factor, buy from a seller with a clear return policy, listen at your normal volume and compare familiar tracks rather than treating the review’s ranking as universal.
Understanding IP67 versus IP68
The first digit in an IP code concerns solid-particle protection and the second concerns water protection under the applicable test. Both PINE Beat and Emberton III are listed as IP67; Flip 7 is listed as IP68. The higher water digit does not automatically describe every form of water exposure, and an IP code does not measure impact resistance. JBL’s drop-proof statement is therefore relevant in a way the IP number alone is not.
Do not use any rating as permission to submerge a damaged speaker, charge it while wet or ignore the manufacturer’s cleaning and drying instructions. Seals can deteriorate after impacts, repairs or age, even when the original rating remains in the product documentation.
Battery figures are not a head-to-head test
There are three different kinds of number in the available material:
- POCA’s range: 5–30 hours depending on use, a broad manufacturer-stated span.
- Trusted Reviews’ observation: about 16 hours inferred from a three-hour session at 50% volume, a single reviewer’s estimate.
- Competitor maximums: JBL’s up to 14 hours, or up to 16 with Playtime Boost, and Marshall’s 32+ hours, both manufacturer claims with their own test conditions.
Volume, bass content, wireless behavior, temperature, battery condition and feature settings all affect runtime. A speaker playing quiet speech indoors can outlast the same model playing bass-heavy music outdoors. Use the figures to identify a likely endurance class, then look for a return policy or independent test performed under conditions close to your own.

PINE Beat Party Mode is described as working only with other PINE Beat speakers. That is useful if your household is already committed to PINE Beat, but it does not promise compatibility with a JBL or Marshall speaker.

JBL advertises Auracast multi-speaker connections for Flip 7. Auracast support is a specific technology feature, so confirm that the phones, tablets and additional speakers you intend to use support the required functions. Marshall’s True Stereophonic label describes its stereo presentation; it is not evidence that Emberton III can join a PINE Beat Party Mode or JBL Auracast group.
Inputs, accessories and long-term ownership checks
Check wired connectivity before ordering
PINE Beat’s 3.5 mm input is explicitly listed in the review. The supplied Flip 7 and Emberton III material does not establish their complete port lists, so do not assume either alternative has an analog input or a particular USB audio mode. If you need a wired connection, verify the current specification for your region before purchase.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteVerify replacement-battery logistics
PINE Beat’s replaceable battery is meaningful only if a compatible replacement can be obtained at a reasonable cost. POCA lists an Extra Battery Pack, but stock, regional shipping, installation instructions and compatibility should be confirmed. The supplied information does not establish replaceable-battery support for Flip 7 or Emberton III, so ask the manufacturer or seller rather than inferring it from a removable-looking panel or a long warranty.
Account for mounting and carrying accessories
POCA lists CORD, PEG and MAG Base accessories for PINE Beat. These may matter if you plan to hang, mount or position the speaker outdoors. Check what is included in the specific bundle and whether the accessory is sold separately; accessory availability can change independently of the speaker.
A practical buying checklist
- Decide whether you need an outdoor speaker, a wired input, a power bank or a replaceable battery. These requirements narrow the choice faster than a generic sound ranking.
- Set a realistic listening volume and estimate your longest session. Compare the manufacturer’s figures only after noting whether they are maximums, ranges or a reviewer’s observation.
- Match the protection claim to the risk: IP rating for dust and water, and a separate drop-resistance claim for impacts.
- Choose a multi-speaker ecosystem before buying a second unit. PINE Beat Party Mode, JBL Auracast and Marshall True Stereophonic are not interchangeable labels.
- Check the current regional specification for ports, charging time, included accessories, replacement batteries and warranty terms.
- Confirm the current price and stock. The £129.95 PINE Beat figure is a UK review price from October 12, 2026, not a universal current price.
- If sound is decisive, use a returnable purchase and test familiar tracks at the volume and placement you actually use.
Verdict
For most buyers seeking a direct PINE Beat substitute, start with the JBL Flip 7 if you want the clearest combination of high water protection, advertised drop resistance and Auracast expansion. Choose the Marshall Emberton III if its 32+ hour manufacturer claim, quick-charge statement and True Stereophonic presentation fit your routine. Do not discard POCA PINE Beat simply because a review preferred the sound of those two alternatives: its replaceable battery, 3.5 mm input, power-bank function and accessory ecosystem address ownership needs the rivals’ supplied specifications do not establish.
There is no standardized independent head-to-head measurement of all three speakers in the available material. Treat the sound ranking as one reviewer’s opinion, treat battery numbers as condition-dependent claims, and make the final decision on the feature you will use every day.
