For a gaming phone you can buy with a documented specification sheet today, choose the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro. It combines the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, a 185Hz AMOLED display, 720Hz touch sampling, AirTrigger shoulder controls, a 5,800mAh typical battery, 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
If your priority is the longest stated battery runtime rather than the most complete control system, current REDMAGIC models list capacities up to 7,500mAh and charging up to 80W. The Honor 90 Pro is the sensible everyday alternative when fast charging and a conventional thin-phone design matter more than gaming controls.

Why the Nubia V90 Pro is difficult to compare right now
The Nubia V90 Pro is not yet a fully released, fully specified product. Leak reports dated 16–17 October 2026 describe a 6.75-inch display, a 108MP main camera, 1,000-nit brightness, 7.7mm thickness, 512GB storage, wet-hand touch support, drop resistance, an IP rating and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Those details do not establish the parts that determine gaming performance and endurance: the processor, RAM, battery capacity, charging speed, price, release date and regional availability remain unknown. Any ranking that declares the V90 Pro faster, longer-lasting or better value than a shipping phone would therefore be speculation.

ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro: the strongest documented gaming alternative
The ROG Phone 9 Pro is the safest recommendation when gaming is the main reason you are shopping. ASUS lists a Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, which gives this phone a clearly identified high-end processor instead of the V90 Pro’s unknown chipset. That matters because game frame rates, thermal behavior and emulator compatibility depend heavily on the system-on-chip.
Controls and touch response
ASUS specifies a 6.78-inch 185Hz AMOLED display and 720Hz touch sampling. A 185Hz refresh rate can present more frames per second than a conventional 60Hz or 120Hz panel when a game and the system can sustain those rates. The 720Hz touch figure describes the panel’s touch-sensing capability, not a guaranteed 720 frames per second. Actual responsiveness still depends on the game, software, thermal state and your network connection.

AirTrigger shoulder controls are the practical differentiator. They let you map physical squeeze or touch zones to in-game actions, so your thumbs can remain on movement and camera controls while another finger handles shooting, jumping or abilities. This is useful in shooters and other games with several simultaneous inputs; it is less important for turn-based games or titles designed around simple taps.
Battery and charging
ASUS describes an “Equivalent 5,800 mAh (typical) high-capacity battery.” The word typical is part of the specification: it is not a promise that every individual cell measures exactly 5,800mAh. ASUS also lists 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Wired charging is the faster option for a quick top-up before a session; wireless charging is convenient at a desk or bedside but is not the fastest route back to a full battery.
Cooling and accessories
The phone supports ASUS’s AeroActive cooler ecosystem. An add-on cooler can move heat away from the chassis during long sessions, when a phone may reduce performance to control temperature. The accessory is not the same as a larger internal battery and does not eliminate power draw; it is a tool for maintaining performance when sustained gaming heat is the limiting factor.

REDMAGIC’s official comparison page groups several current models and generations rather than presenting one universally identical phone. In that grouped data, listed phones reach battery capacities of up to 7,500mAh and support up to 80W wired and wireless fast charging. The same page includes the wording “7,050mAh Dual Cell Battery & Supports up to 80W.” These figures should not be treated as one specification for every handset: the exact capacity, charging method and model name depend on the regional configuration.
Why the larger capacity matters
A larger battery gives a phone more stored energy before it needs a charger, which is valuable for long gaming sessions, travel and heavy mobile-data use. It does not guarantee a fixed number of gaming hours. Brightness, frame-rate settings, cellular signal, heat, game-engine efficiency and background applications can make two phones with similarly rated batteries last very different lengths of time.
Compared with the ROG Phone 9 Pro’s stated 5,800mAh typical capacity, a REDMAGIC model listed at 7,500mAh has a higher published capacity. That is why REDMAGIC is the better starting point for a battery-first buyer, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro has the clearer published control and touch feature set.
Gaming hardware
The cited REDMAGIC lineup targets gaming with active cooling and shoulder-trigger features. “Active cooling” indicates that the design uses a powered cooling system rather than relying only on passive heat spreading. The effectiveness, fan noise, trigger layout and exact processor vary by model, so identify the precise phone before comparing it with the ROG Phone 9 Pro.
The comparison page lists Android 16-based REDMAGIC OS on current phones. That gives a more specific software baseline than the V90 Pro leaks, but it does not by itself promise a particular number of operating-system upgrades or security updates.

- Two Screens, More Control: Large 6.78” curved main display for streaming, gaming, and browsing, plus a smaller, rear screen for quick selfies, messages, and music controls.
- Smooth Performance: Handles your favorite apps, games, and multitasking without slowing down, with plenty of space for all your photos and videos.

- All-Day Battery: Stay powered all day with our 5,000mAh battery, and recharge in a flash with our 66W quick charge technology that tops you up from 0 to 100% in just 20 minutes.
How to avoid buying the wrong REDMAGIC variant
- Write down the exact model name, such as the current model offered in your market, rather than relying on a family label.
- Check the regional product page for battery capacity, charging input, included charger and network bands.
- Confirm whether the stated 80W figure applies to wired charging, wireless charging or both on that configuration.
- Verify the installed REDMAGIC OS and Android version, because grouped comparison pages can contain more than one generation.
- Check stock and warranty coverage for your country before paying; availability is region-dependent.
Who should choose REDMAGIC
Choose a current REDMAGIC phone when battery capacity and gaming-focused hardware are more important than a conventional thin-phone experience. It is especially attractive for people who play for long stretches away from a socket. The trade-off is model-selection complexity: the headline figures come from a grouped comparison page, so you must validate the exact regional phone instead of assuming every listed number applies to every model.
Honor 90 Pro: the balanced everyday alternative
The Honor 90 Pro is not a dedicated gaming phone, but it answers a different version of the V90 Pro question: “What can I buy now that charges quickly and still handles demanding apps?” Honor lists a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform, a 5,000mAh battery, 90W charging and a 6.78-inch display.
Charging advantage
Honor states that its 90W charging test reaches 56% in 15 minutes. That is a company test result under its stated conditions, not a universal real-world guarantee. Charger compatibility, temperature, battery level, cable and regional packaging can change the result. Even so, the claim makes the Honor 90 Pro the quickest top-up option among the three alternatives when judged by the published charging figures.
Gaming trade-offs
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a known processor, but it is an older platform than the ROG Phone 9 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. Honor’s cited specification does not identify shoulder controls, active gaming cooling, a gaming-focused operating system or a high touch-sampling figure. Its 5,000mAh battery is also smaller than the ROG Phone 9 Pro’s stated 5,800mAh typical capacity and below the largest capacities listed for current REDMAGIC models.
That does not make it unsuitable for games. It makes the phone a better fit for someone who alternates between communication, photography, streaming and occasional gaming, rather than someone who wants hardware built around sustained competitive play.
Who should buy it
- Users who want a normal-looking, relatively thin phone instead of a gaming-first design.
- People who value rapid charging more than the largest possible battery.
- Buyers who play casually or in shorter sessions and do not need shoulder triggers.
- Anyone who prefers to wait for a final V90 Pro specification before committing to a gaming model.
Honor’s cited information does not establish the 90 Pro’s weight, refresh rate, software-support period, camera details or regional price. Confirm those items locally.

Gaming performance: what the published specifications really tell you
Chipset certainty comes first
A named processor is more useful than a megapixel count when selecting a gaming phone. It identifies the performance class and gives developers and accessory makers a known platform to target. The ROG Phone 9 Pro and Honor 90 Pro have named Snapdragon platforms. The V90 Pro’s processor is still unknown, and REDMAGIC’s grouped listing requires model-by-model checking.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Sustained performance is not peak performance
A phone can produce a high frame rate for a short benchmark and then slow down as heat builds. Active cooling, an external cooler and a chassis designed to move heat can help a device hold performance longer, but no published specification here establishes a common gaming-hours or sustained-frame-rate test. Do not convert the battery or display numbers into an invented runtime estimate.
Controls change how you play
AirTriggers on the ROG Phone 9 Pro and shoulder triggers on cited REDMAGIC phones can reduce the number of on-screen controls competing for thumb space. They are meaningful advantages in games that support custom layouts. They do not improve story-driven games that use only a few inputs, and they do not replace a full controller for every genre.
Battery life and charging: choosing the right kind of endurance
Capacity versus charging speed
Battery capacity determines how much energy is stored; charging power determines how quickly you can replenish it. REDMAGIC’s listed capacities favor long stretches between outlets. Honor’s 90W system favors rapid recovery. ASUS sits between those priorities with a 5,800mAh typical battery, 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
Why gaming drains batteries quickly
High refresh rates, bright displays, continuous graphics processing, speakers, vibration and mobile radios all consume power. A 185Hz mode may use more energy than a lower refresh setting, while an active cooling fan adds its own draw. Battery ratings therefore provide a useful starting point, not a guarantee of a specific number of matches or hours.

- Use the supplied or manufacturer-approved charger and cable where possible.
- Charge in a cool, ventilated place; heat during charging and gaming increases stress on the battery.
- Use wired charging when you need the fastest top-up and wireless charging when convenience matters more.
- For marathon sessions, consider an external power source and cooling strategy rather than running a hot phone at maximum settings continuously.
Display, camera and everyday usability
The leak reports make the V90 Pro look attractive as an everyday device: a 6.75-inch panel, 1,000-nit reported brightness, a 108MP main camera, 512GB storage, wet-hand touch, drop resistance, an IP rating and a 3.5mm headphone jack. None of those leak claims has yet been paired with a confirmed launch specification, so treat them as provisional.

The ROG Phone 9 Pro has the clearest gaming display specification in this comparison: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 185Hz refresh and 720Hz touch sampling. Honor also lists a 6.78-inch display, but its refresh and touch rates are not stated here. REDMAGIC’s grouped comparison does not provide one display specification that can safely be applied to every listed model.
Camera comparisons are similarly limited. The V90 Pro’s reported 108MP main camera is the only camera-resolution figure available in the supplied specifications. That number alone does not establish image quality, stabilization or low-light performance, and no directly comparable camera data is stated for the three alternatives.
Should you wait for the Nubia V90 Pro?
Buy now if your requirements are already clear
Buy the ROG Phone 9 Pro now if you need documented gaming controls, a known Snapdragon 8 Elite platform and a 5,800mAh typical battery. Choose a current REDMAGIC model now if the highest stated battery capacity is your deciding factor and you are prepared to verify the exact regional variant. Choose the Honor 90 Pro if rapid charging and general-purpose use outweigh dedicated gaming hardware.
Wait if the unknowns are deal-breakers
Waiting makes sense when the V90 Pro’s possible 512GB storage, 7.7mm thickness, headphone jack or reported camera and brightness appeal to you, and you can postpone the purchase until Nubia publishes the processor, RAM, battery, charging, price, release date and availability. Without those figures, you cannot make a fair value comparison.
Use a confirmation checklist before ordering
- Confirm the final processor and RAM, then compare them with the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the ROG Phone 9 Pro and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the Honor 90 Pro.
- Check the battery capacity and whether the rating is typical, rated or dual-cell.
- Verify wired and wireless charging speeds, charger inclusion and regional electrical compatibility.
- Look for a stated cooling system, trigger controls, touch-sampling rate and sustained-performance guidance.
- Confirm the actual IP rating and drop-resistance standard rather than relying on an unqualified “IP” or “drop-resistant” description.
- Check launch price, warranty, network compatibility and stock in your country.
Regional pricing, stock and configuration warnings
No price is established for the V90 Pro in the leak reports, and prices for the alternatives vary by country, memory configuration, taxes and promotions. A battery or charging number on a global comparison page may describe a different generation or regional model from the one sold locally.
Before checkout, match the model number, storage tier, charger, supported network bands and warranty territory. For REDMAGIC in particular, do not use the maximum 7,500mAh or 80W headline as proof that every phone in the grouped listing has those specifications.
Quick Recap
Final recommendation by reader type
- Competitive mobile gamer: ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro, because its Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, 185Hz display, 720Hz touch sampling and AirTrigger controls are the most completely documented combination.
- Traveler or endurance-first player: A current REDMAGIC model with the largest battery offered in your region, after verifying the exact model’s capacity and charging specification.
- Mixed-use phone owner: Honor 90 Pro, if 90W charging and the 56%-in-15-minutes company test are more useful to you than gaming triggers or active cooling.
- Speculation-tolerant buyer: Wait for the Nubia V90 Pro’s official announcement, because its most important performance and battery details are still missing.
