If you want a lightweight Windows laptop like the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, start with the ASUS Zenbook A14 for a light OLED option, the Microsoft Surface Laptop for a premium Windows-on-ARM design, or a Dell XPS 13 or Dell 14S for slim alternatives. Choose the exact model and configuration around your preferred display, portability, and software compatibility—not a single headline battery-life number.
Which Yoga Slim 7x are you comparing against?
The Lenovo page cited here describes the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9, a 14-inch Snapdragon family with a 14.5-inch 3K OLED touchscreen. Lenovo’s battery claim is based on continuous 1080p video playback at 150 nits on a current Windows 11 update, so it is a manufacturer result rather than a direct comparison with independent review tests.

The Yoga Slim 7x name also covers other generations. For example, TechRadar’s 23-hour-30-minute movie-test result is for the Gen 11, not the Gen 9. Keep model generations separate when comparing battery life, price, or performance.
Best lightweight Windows laptop alternatives
| Laptop | Best suited to | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| ASUS Zenbook A14 | Low carry weight, OLED, and Windows on ARM | Windows Central’s 2026 guide lists Snapdragon X Plus configurations, a 14-inch FHD+ 60Hz OLED, 70Wh battery, and options up to 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Its reviewer reports around 12 hours of regular use. Confirm the processor and configuration in your region. Source |
| Microsoft Surface Laptop | Premium conventional design with Windows on ARM | Windows Central’s guide ranks Surface Laptop 7 as its overall ARM laptop pick, with 13.5- and 15-inch models and 120Hz touch LCDs. Microsoft announced newer Snapdragon X2 Surface Laptop versions in 13.8- and 15-inch sizes in June 2026; do not treat older independent reviews as tests of those newer versions. Guide · Microsoft announcement |
| Dell XPS 13 (2026) | A particularly slim, low-weight chassis | Dell lists a weight of 1 kg, thickness of 12.7 mm, and a 2.5K touch display. Its U.S. starting-price statement was tied to student and seasonal conditions, so check the live price rather than treating that figure as a regular price. Dell announcement |
| Dell 14S | A portable general-purpose laptop with display choices | Microsoft’s September 2026 IFA roundup lists 1.15 kg and 13.5 mm thickness, with either a 2.8K 120Hz panel or a 2K 60Hz panel. Microsoft describes the latter as an option aimed at battery life and value; its Netflix battery figure is a manufacturer claim. Microsoft IFA roundup |
| ASUS Zenbook S14 UX5406 | A premium Intel-based ultrabook | ASUS describes this Lunar Lake model as a lightweight Copilot+ PC. Its cited page collects third-party reviews from late 2024, which establish its category fit but are not a current head-to-head comparison with 2026 laptops. ASUS product page |
How to choose between them
Start with the weight and screen size you will carry
Compare the complete laptop configuration, including screen size, rather than relying on the family name. Dell states that the 2026 XPS 13 weighs 1 kg; Microsoft’s September 2026 IFA roundup gives 1.15 kg for the Dell 14S. These figures describe the cited models, not every configuration in either product line.

Choose the display you actually want
The Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9’s cited specification is a 14.5-inch 3K OLED touchscreen. The Zenbook A14 configuration in Windows Central’s 2026 guide has a 14-inch FHD+ OLED running at 60Hz. The Surface Laptop 7 configurations described by that guide use 120Hz touch LCD panels. Resolution, panel type, refresh rate, brightness, and aspect ratio all matter; these specifications do not establish a universal screen-quality ranking.
Check ARM compatibility before choosing a Snapdragon model
The Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9, Zenbook A14, and cited Surface Laptop models use Snapdragon processors and run Windows on ARM. Windows Central notes the efficiency appeal of ARM laptops but says the right choice depends on the user’s requirements. Before buying, verify that your essential applications, drivers, and peripherals are supported with their vendors. The available product comparisons do not provide a complete compatibility list.

Compare battery evidence by method, not by the biggest number
Battery figures in these sources are not a controlled comparison. Lenovo’s Gen 9 claim uses continuous 1080p video playback at 150 nits, Microsoft says the 13.8-inch Snapdragon X2 Surface Laptop can reach up to 20 hours, Windows Central’s Zenbook A14 reviewer reports around 12 hours of regular use, and TechRadar measured 23 hours 30 minutes in a movie test of the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 11. The Surface figure is a manufacturer claim; the Zenbook figure describes a reviewer’s experience, and the TechRadar result applies to Gen 11. Different devices, generations, and test methods prevent these values from forming a reliable battery ranking.
Check the precise SKU and current regional listing
RAM, storage, processor, display, price, and availability vary by model and region. Compare the exact configuration you can buy with the one you intend to replace. Treat student offers, seasonal discounts, and announced prices as conditional or dated rather than stable current pricing.
