The iBUYPOWER PRO AMD AI Halo Mini PC is not yet an established retail product. iBUYPOWER announced it on October 8, 2026, for planned Q4 2026 availability at a starting price of $3,999. Until a launch notice, live product page, and retailer inventory confirm otherwise, treat that price and timing as announced specifications rather than a product you can order today.

The closest documented alternative is AMD’s separate Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform with the same Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, Radeon 8065S integrated graphics, and 192GB of unified memory. ASRock Industrial’s AI BOX-A395 is a different, Ryzen AI Max+ 395-based option with dual-speed Ethernet, two M.2 sockets, and 128GB of memory. Neither has an independently measured performance advantage over the iBUYPOWER system in the available evidence, so the best choice depends on memory capacity, storage, connectivity, operating system, and confirmed retail status.

What the iBUYPOWER AI Halo Mini PC actually is

iBUYPOWER describes its PRO AMD AI Halo Mini PC as a compact developer and creator workstation built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495. The October 8, 2026 announcement lists a 16-core Zen 5 CPU, integrated Radeon 8065S graphics with 40 compute units, and a 55-TOPS neural-processing unit (NPU). These are manufacturer specifications, not independent benchmark results.

Announced specification iBUYPOWER PRO AMD AI Halo Mini PC
Processor AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495; 16 Zen 5 CPU cores
Graphics Integrated AMD Radeon 8065S; 40 compute units
NPU 55 TOPS
Memory 128GB LPDDR5X at 8,000 MHz
Storage Configurable M.2 Gen4 NVMe storage up to 8TB
Operating system Windows 11
Dimensions 70 × 198 × 200 mm
Price and timing $3,999 starting price; planned Q4 2026 availability

The system’s 128GB of fast unified memory is shared by the CPU and integrated GPU. That arrangement can be valuable for local AI because a model can use more than a conventional discrete GPU’s dedicated VRAM, but the usable amount depends on the operating system, graphics allocation, model format, context length, and application. The announcement does not state how much memory Windows reserves or how the firmware lets you adjust the CPU/GPU split.

There is no independent iBUYPOWER benchmark in the available material. Do not treat the 55-TOPS NPU figure, 40 graphics compute units, or 8TB storage ceiling as evidence that this machine will beat another system in token generation, image rendering, compile time, or sustained thermals.

The AMD platform is the most direct same-chip comparison. ASRock’s system is a different processor configuration and is best considered when expansion and networking matter more than matching the PRO 495 exactly.

How the AMD Ryzen AI Halo compares with iBUYPOWER’s AI Halo mini PC

Same PRO 495 silicon, different system configuration

AMD’s RAH-002 developer-platform page also specifies the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and Radeon 8065S with 40 compute units. That makes it the closest like-for-like alternative at the processor and graphics level. It lists a 55-TOPS NPU, matching the NPU figure in iBUYPOWER’s announcement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The systems are not the same product or chassis. iBUYPOWER lists 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 70 × 198 × 200 mm enclosure. AMD lists 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533, 273GB/s memory bandwidth, a 2TB M.2 SSD, and a 150 × 150 × 45.4 mm platform. Do not use AMD’s 192GB figure to describe the iBUYPOWER machine.

Memory capacity favors AMD’s platform

AMD’s 192GB configuration provides 64GB more unified memory than iBUYPOWER’s announced 128GB. That matters when loading larger quantized language models, keeping a long context, running multiple containers, or using a GPU-heavy creative application while other services remain active. AMD also specifies 273GB/s bandwidth, while iBUYPOWER publishes the LPDDR5X speed but does not publish a bandwidth figure.

More memory is not automatically faster. A workload can be limited by compute throughput, memory bandwidth, software kernels, thermals, or storage. The available specifications establish capacity and interface differences, not a performance ranking.

Storage is the major iBUYPOWER advantage on paper

iBUYPOWER says its system can be configured with up to 8TB of M.2 Gen4 NVMe storage. AMD’s platform page lists a 2TB M.2 SSD. The iBUYPOWER capacity is useful if you plan to keep several model weights, checkpoints, datasets, virtual machines, and local image assets on the internal drive. AMD’s 2TB figure is a defined platform configuration, not a statement that larger drives are impossible; the page simply does not establish an 8TB option.

Neither announcement fully explains service access, the number of internal sockets, or whether an installed drive can be replaced without affecting warranty coverage. Confirm those details before buying. Do not assume that “M.2” alone guarantees a second slot or user-upgradeable memory: both systems use soldered LPDDR5X memory in the documented configurations.

AMD offers a broader documented software and connectivity baseline

AMD lists Linux or Windows 11 support, 10Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 for the developer platform. Those interfaces are significant for a workstation that pulls datasets from network storage, serves models to other machines, or runs Linux-native tooling.

iBUYPOWER’s announcement specifies Windows 11 but does not list Ethernet speed, wireless standard, Bluetooth version, display outputs, or USB port count. If your setup requires 10GbE, Wi-Fi 7, multiple high-speed displays, or a specific USB4 layout, obtain the final iBUYPOWER I/O specification before placing an order.

AMD’s two Halo platform configurations—and why the names cause confusion

AMD’s user guide distinguishes two configurations under the Ryzen AI Halo platform:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Configuration CPU Memory and bandwidth Graphics NPU
RAH-001 Ryzen AI Max+ 395 128GB LPDDR5X-8000; 256GB/s Radeon 8060S 50 TOPS
RAH-002 Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 192GB LPDDR5X-8533; 273GB/s Radeon 8065S 55 TOPS

RAH-002 is the configuration that aligns with the processor and graphics names in iBUYPOWER’s announcement, but its 192GB memory and 150 × 150 × 45.4 mm dimensions belong to AMD’s separate developer platform. RAH-001 is not an iBUYPOWER configuration either. Keeping these entries separate prevents the common mistake of describing a 192GB AMD platform as a 128GB iBUYPOWER retail mini PC.

Is the ASRock Industrial AI BOX-A395 a better alternative?

The AI BOX-A395 is a credible physical alternative when expansion and network connectivity are priorities. ASRock Industrial documents a Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 128GB LPDDR5X-8000 memory, two M.2 Key M slots, 10GbE and 2.5GbE LAN, two USB4 ports, additional USB-C and USB-A ports, HDMI, and DisplayPort. Its listed chassis measures 200 × 100 × 232 mm.

Choose it for I/O and storage flexibility

Two M.2 sockets give the ASRock system a clearer multi-drive path than the iBUYPOWER announcement, which only confirms configurable M.2 Gen4 storage up to 8TB. Dual 10GbE and 2.5GbE networking can support separate storage and client networks, a useful arrangement for a lab or small production environment. USB4, HDMI, and DisplayPort also make the port layout more explicit than iBUYPOWER’s announcement.

Do not assume it matches the PRO 495

The AI BOX-A395 uses Ryzen AI Max+ 395 rather than the PRO 495. AMD’s user guide associates the 395 platform configuration with Radeon 8060S and a 50-TOPS NPU, while the PRO 495 configuration uses Radeon 8065S and a 55-TOPS NPU. The ASRock catalog does not, by itself, establish benchmark results, retail pricing, or stock. Compare the exact processor, memory allocation, and firmware configuration in the seller’s listing.

Which mini PC can run AI models locally?

All three candidates are designed around integrated CPU/GPU memory rather than a conventional desktop graphics card with a fixed VRAM pool. They can run local inference software when the operating system, drivers, runtime, model format, and available memory are compatible. “Can run” does not mean every model will run at a useful speed or fit in memory.

Memory is the first sizing check

Estimate the model’s weight memory, then add space for the runtime, operating-system overhead, tokenizer, context cache, and any concurrent process. Four-bit quantization reduces memory requirements, but it also changes quality and performance characteristics. A model that technically loads may still generate slowly or leave too little memory for a practical context window.

AMD’s launch announcement says Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series processors can support up to 192GB of system memory and 160GB of VRAM, and describes running 300-billion-parameter models locally. The footnote limits the 300-billion-plus claim to a PRO 495 with up to 160GB of dedicated graphics memory at 4-bit quantization, as of May 11, 2026. This is an AMD capability claim under a specific memory and quantization condition, not a guarantee for every model, application, or retail configuration.

Software listed by AMD

AMD’s ecosystem announcement names PyTorch, vLLM, llama.cpp, Ollama, ComfyUI, and LM Studio as local-development software for the Halo platform. These names indicate stated ecosystem compatibility; they are not independent benchmark evidence. Check each project’s current installation instructions, supported graphics backend, Windows or Linux requirements, and driver version before committing to a workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

NPU versus GPU workloads

The NPU’s TOPS rating describes an AI-acceleration block, not a universal local-inference speed score. Many desktop AI tools use the GPU or CPU path, and support for a particular NPU backend varies by framework and model. For large language-model inference, memory capacity and GPU software support may matter more than the headline NPU number. For supported low-power Windows AI features, the NPU can reduce CPU usage and energy consumption.

Availability, pricing, and what to verify before buying

iBUYPOWER’s status

iBUYPOWER announced a $3,999 starting price and planned Q4 2026 availability on October 8, 2026. The announcement does not establish that the system had shipped or that the starting configuration was orderable at the research timestamp of October 13, 2026. Before treating it as available, verify a live product page, an orderable configuration, delivery estimates, warranty terms, and the final port and cooling specifications.

AMD platform status

AMD announced that its initial Ryzen AI Halo platform based on Max+ 395 would be available through Micro Center, with preorder timing in June 2026. AMD also said OEMs including HP and Lenovo were expected to offer Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series systems in Q3 2026. Those statements describe AMD’s announced plans; they do not prove current stock, final configurations, or a specific retailer’s price. Check the seller’s listing and the exact memory, storage, and operating-system configuration.

ASRock status

ASRock Industrial’s catalog documents the AI BOX-A395 hardware, but the catalog does not state a retail price, current inventory, or comparative performance. Ask the distributor for a complete bill of materials, launch region, warranty terms, and whether the listed 128GB memory and dual-M.2 configuration are standard or optional.

Decision guide: which alternative fits your workload?

Choose AMD’s RAH-002 platform when memory and Linux matter most

  • You need the documented 192GB unified-memory configuration.
  • You want Linux or Windows 11 as an explicit platform choice.
  • 10Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 are important.
  • You prefer the smallest listed footprint at 150 × 150 × 45.4 mm.
  • A 2TB SSD is sufficient or you are prepared to confirm expansion options.

Choose ASRock’s AI BOX-A395 when expansion and wired networking matter most

  • You need two M.2 Key M slots rather than a single documented storage configuration.
  • You need both 10GbE and 2.5GbE LAN.
  • You require a clearly documented USB4, HDMI, and DisplayPort selection.
  • The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 configuration meets your software and model requirements.
  • You can obtain a current price and stock confirmation from a distributor.

Wait for iBUYPOWER when internal storage capacity and a Windows-first bundle are the priority

  • You want the announced PRO 495 and Radeon 8065S combination in a Windows 11 mini PC.
  • You expect to configure up to 8TB of M.2 Gen4 NVMe storage.
  • The 70 × 198 × 200 mm enclosure suits your workspace.
  • You can wait for Q4 2026 launch confirmation and verify the final specification.
  • The $3,999 starting price remains competitive after adding your desired memory and storage configuration.

Buyer checklist for a local-AI mini PC

  1. Confirm the exact processor. Distinguish Ryzen AI Max+ 395 from Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495; they are not interchangeable names.
  2. Confirm unified-memory capacity. Record total memory, LPDDR5X speed, published bandwidth, and any configurable graphics allocation.
  3. Match storage to your models. Include model weights, checkpoints, datasets, containers, and free space for updates.
  4. Check expansion. Ask how many M.2 sockets are populated, which PCIe generation they use, and whether the drive is replaceable.
  5. Verify ports and networking. Confirm Ethernet speed, wireless standard, USB4 support, display outputs, and the number of external displays.
  6. Verify the operating system and drivers. Ensure your chosen runtime supports the shipped Windows or Linux image and current AMD graphics software.
  7. Ask for sustained- workload information. A compact enclosure may have different power and thermal limits from an open developer board; require documented power settings and cooling details rather than assuming equal performance.
  8. Check the transaction, not just the announcement. Confirm orderability, delivery date, warranty, return policy, and the configuration actually shown in the cart.

Bottom line: the best alternative depends on what you value

For a direct technical substitute, AMD’s RAH-002 Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform is the strongest documented match: it uses the same Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and Radeon 8065S class while adding 192GB of memory, 273GB/s bandwidth, 10Gbps networking, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Linux support. Its 2TB SSD and current retail status still require confirmation.

ASRock Industrial’s AI BOX-A395 is the more expansion-oriented choice, with dual LAN speeds, two M.2 slots, USB4, and explicit display outputs, but it uses the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and has no stated price or independent performance comparison. iBUYPOWER remains compelling on announced storage capacity and its compact Windows 11 design, yet its $3,999 price and Q4 2026 timing were announced rather than proven as an orderable retail product on October 13, 2026. No available evidence supports declaring a performance winner among these systems.
