None reproduces the Pura X Max’s unusual proportions: Huawei documents a 7.7-inch inner screen paired with a short, 5.4-inch outer screen. These are conventional book-style foldables, so choose among them by software, cover-screen usability, cameras, charging, support and local availability rather than expecting a like-for-like replacement.
The Pura X Max was announced for China at a starting recommended price of CNY 10,999, with sales scheduled for April 25, 2026. Before importing one, verify an official release, warranty, network bands, eSIM activation and app support in your country. The alternatives below have better-documented international channels, but stock, pricing, bands and after-sales service still vary by market.

What the Huawei Pura X Max offers
Huawei’s China product page describes the Pura X Max as a wide-format foldable designed around a 5.4-inch external display and a 7.7-inch internal display. The short outer panel is intended to make the folded phone compact and to provide a broad canvas for reading, video, games and document work once opened. Its LTPO 2.0 panel is specified for an adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate. See the official Pura X Max product page and Huawei’s specifications page for the complete China-market listing.

The same specification page lists a 5,300 mAh typical battery, 66 W wired charging and 50 W Huawei wireless charging when used with the specified Huawei accessories. It supports eSIM, but the page names Chinese carriers for service availability; that is not evidence that an overseas carrier will provision the eSIM. The phone carries IP58 and IP59 test ratings, while Huawei cautions that resistance to water and dust can decline with wear.

The current product page identifies HarmonyOS 7. Huawei’s April 20, 2026 launch announcement describes the launch software as HarmonyOS 6.1, so those statements refer to different points in the product’s release timeline rather than one simultaneous specification. The announcement also claims a 30% performance improvement over the Pura X, while a footnote on the product page cites a separate Huawei laboratory comparison claiming 38%. Both are manufacturer comparisons made under their stated test conditions, not independent benchmark results.
Huawei’s announcement gives the CNY 10,999 starting recommended price and April 25 sales date. It establishes a Chinese launch, not a universal absence from every overseas reseller. A parallel import may appear in another country, but the buyer must confirm local warranty coverage, compatible LTE/5G bands, charging certification, replacement parts and access to required apps.

The alternatives use taller, more conventional cover screens. That makes ordinary phone tasks easier for many people, but it also means they do not duplicate the Pura X Max’s short outer display or its particular folded footprint.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: the safest all-round replacement
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 is the most straightforward recommendation when you want a large inner screen with an established international sales and service structure. Samsung lists general availability from July 25, 2025, an 8.0-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover display with a 21:9 ratio. The cover is much taller than the Pura X Max’s outer panel, so it behaves more like a standard phone for messaging, banking and two-handed typing.
The cited Samsung specifications list a 215 g weight, a 4,400 mAh typical battery, IP48 protection, Android 16 and One UI 8. The entry configuration is 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, although configurations differ by market. Samsung also specifies a 200 MP main camera and a 3x optical telephoto camera. Those focal lengths tell you what framing is available; they do not establish image quality, battery endurance or hinge durability without controlled testing.
Choose the Fold7 when you value Samsung’s Android ecosystem, multitasking tools and the broadest likelihood of finding an official regional model. Check the exact model number before purchase: storage tiers, SIM arrangements, 5G bands, warranty terms and launch promotions are country-specific. Its IP48 rating is not directly comparable to the Pura X Max’s IP58/IP59 tests because the ratings cover different protection conditions; neither specification predicts how a worn hinge will behave after years of use.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: best for Google software and updates
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the strongest fit for buyers who want Google’s software experience on a book-style foldable. Google lists an 8-inch inner display and a 6.4-inch cover display, again giving you a tall everyday outer screen rather than Huawei’s wide, short arrangement. The US Google Store lists the phone from $1,799; that is a US price and should not be converted into a global price expectation.
Recommended Free Tools
Google specifies a 5,015 mAh typical battery, a 5x optical telephoto camera and Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 15 W. Android 16 is listed at launch, with seven years of operating-system, security and Pixel Drop updates. That update commitment is unusually clear, but it does not guarantee that every repair part, carrier feature or service center will be available in every country.
The Pixel makes sense if you rely on Google services, want long published software support or prefer a 5x telephoto perspective for distant subjects. Confirm that the phone is officially sold in your country and that warranty repairs are available there. Imported US hardware can have different cellular bands, SIM behavior and emergency-calling support, even when the software language is compatible.
OPPO Find N5: the largest inner display in this group
OPPO’s global announcement for the Find N5, dated February 20, 2025, lists an 8.12-inch inner display and a 6.62-inch cover display. Among the official display figures cited here, that is the largest inner panel. Its cover is still a conventional tall phone shape, so it is a practical alternative rather than a reproduction of Huawei’s proportions.
The announcement names a Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, a 50 MP periscope camera with optical image stabilisation, eSIM support, Circle to Search and Google Gemini. OPPO says its products reach more than 700 million users across 70 markets and that 60% of its 2024 shipments came from outside mainland China. Those are OPPO’s company-published figures, not independent market-share measurements, and they do not prove that the Find N5 is currently stocked or serviced in every one of those markets.
Consider the Find N5 if inner-screen size and Google features matter more than a long, explicitly stated update policy. Before paying an importer, ask for the exact regional model, supported bands, bootloader and software region, eSIM provisioning rules, return period and written warranty. OPPO’s global launch announcement confirms an international rollout, but it is not a country-by-country stock list.

What about the HONOR Magic V5?
A secondary review reports a 7.95-inch inner display for the HONOR Magic V5, making it a possible regional alternative. The available evidence here is not an official country product page or a complete current specification sheet. Treat it as a lead to investigate, not as a confirmed recommendation. Verify the official HONOR page for your country, the exact model number, software and Google-service status, network bands, warranty and current retailer stock before including it in a buying decision.
Choose by the differences that affect daily use
Outer-screen shape and one-handed typing
The Pura X Max’s 5.4-inch outer screen is short and wide. That may reduce the feeling of a narrow strip when reading or viewing content, but app layouts and keyboard behavior can differ from conventional phones. Samsung, Google and OPPO use taller covers measuring 6.5, 6.4 and 6.62 inches respectively. A tall cover usually offers a more familiar Android layout, but it can be harder to reach one-handed. Try the cover-screen keyboard in a store or use a generous return period if typing comfort is decisive.
Inner-screen size and aspect ratio
All three documented alternatives open to roughly eight inches, while the Find N5 has the largest cited inner measurement at 8.12 inches. Diagonal size alone does not determine usable area: aspect ratio, crease placement, app scaling and letterboxing matter. Compare the apps you use for documents, video, comics, games and split-screen work rather than assuming the biggest number wins.
Weight, thickness and pocket carry
Samsung lists the Fold7 at 215 g. Comparable weight figures were not included in the cited Pixel and OPPO material, so do not infer a winner from screen size. Ask retailers for folded and unfolded dimensions and test the hinge angle, cover reach and pocket comfort. A large inner panel can be useful at a desk while still feeling bulky when folded.
Cameras and focal lengths
- The Fold7 lists a 200 MP main camera and 3x optical telephoto.
- The Pixel 10 Pro Fold lists a 5x optical telephoto.
- The Find N5 lists a 50 MP periscope camera with optical image stabilisation.
These are hardware descriptions, not a ranking of photo quality. Processing, autofocus, low-light behavior, shutter lag and camera access on the cover screen require hands-on testing. Pick the focal length that matches your subjects, then verify samples from independent reviews for your region and software version.
Battery and charging
The Pura X Max has the largest stated capacity in this comparison at 5,300 mAh, followed by the Pixel’s 5,015 mAh and the Fold7’s 4,400 mAh. Capacity is not endurance: display brightness, modem bands, processor load, hinge-screen use and background software all change runtime. Huawei’s 50 W wireless figure requires specified Huawei accessories; the Pixel’s cited Qi2 figure is up to 15 W. The OPPO announcement used here does not state battery or charging figures, so obtain them from the exact regional specification page before comparing chargers.

Water and dust protection
Huawei lists IP58 and IP59 test ratings, Samsung lists IP48, and the supplied Pixel and OPPO specifications do not establish equivalent ratings in the cited pages. IP codes describe laboratory protection categories, not immunity from drops, hinge wear, salt water or liquid damage. Read the warranty exclusions and repair policy before treating a rating as insurance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSoftware, Google services and updates
The Pura X Max runs HarmonyOS 7 according to Huawei’s current China product page, while the launch announcement referred to HarmonyOS 6.1. Overseas app compatibility must be checked directly because the page’s eSIM examples and carrier references are Chinese. The Pixel has the clearest published seven-year OS, security and Pixel Drop commitment. Samsung’s cited specification identifies Android 16 and One UI 8. OPPO’s announcement confirms Google Gemini and Circle to Search, but the material here does not provide an equivalent duration for updates.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify an overseas purchase before paying
- Start with the manufacturer’s country site. Search your country on the official Samsung, Google, OPPO or Huawei site and confirm that the exact model is listed for sale, not merely mentioned in a global press release.
- Record the model number and region. Ask the seller for a photograph of the retail label or software model screen. Different regional models can use different 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, SIM and eSIM configurations.
- Check carrier compatibility. Compare every required LTE and 5G band with your carrier’s published list. Confirm VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, emergency calling and eSIM provisioning, not just basic signal reception.
- Confirm Google and banking apps. Verify Play Store certification, Google Pay or Wallet support, banking-app compatibility, language options and notification behavior on the exact software region.
- Read the warranty in writing. Determine whether repairs must be returned to the country of sale, who pays shipping, what the hinge and inner screen are covered for, and whether liquid or accidental damage is excluded.
- Check charger and accessory support. Confirm the charger’s plug, voltage, USB-PD behavior and whether wireless-charging claims require a proprietary accessory. Do not assume a local case or screen protector fits a regional variant.
- Price the complete import. Add shipping, tax, customs duty, insurance, return postage and possible repair costs. Compare that total with an officially sold model before deciding that a lower listing price is a bargain.
- Use the return window as a compatibility test. Insert your SIM, test 5G and VoLTE, activate eSIM if needed, install essential apps, make a voice call, test notifications and inspect the hinge and inner screen immediately.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose Galaxy Z Fold7 if you want the least complicated mainstream alternative
It combines a large inner panel, a tall usable cover, Samsung’s ecosystem, a 200 MP main camera, 3x optical telephoto and an announced multi-market launch. It is the practical default when local stock, official repair and familiar Android software matter more than matching Huawei’s unusual outer-screen shape.
Choose Pixel 10 Pro Fold if updates and Google services come first
The Pixel is the clearest choice for the published seven-year update policy, Google software and a 5x telephoto camera. The US-listed $1,799 starting price makes regional verification essential; do not assume a US import has the same bands, warranty or service as a local model.
Choose OPPO Find N5 if inner-screen size is your priority
The 8.12-inch inner display is the largest official figure in this comparison, and the phone includes a periscope camera, eSIM and Google features. Buy only after confirming current local stock, warranty and software-region behavior, because a 2025 global announcement is not a guarantee of availability today.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Import the Pura X Max only for its specific form factor
The Huawei is worth considering when the short, wide outer display, 7.7-inch inner screen, 5,300 mAh battery or Huawei charging ecosystem is the reason you want it. Its China launch status, Chinese carrier references and uncertain overseas support make it a specialist import rather than the default recommendation for buyers outside China.
Claims that should not decide the purchase by themselves
Huawei’s launch material cites 71.8% of China’s foldable-phone market in 2025, attributing the figure to IDC, and says more than 1.5 million Pura X units shipped from launch through March 2026. The shipment figure concerns the earlier Pura X, not the Pura X Max. Neither statistic establishes overseas availability or superiority for the Max.
Likewise, Samsung’s executive statement that the Fold7 delivers its “most advanced smartphone experience yet” is company positioning, not an independent test. No independent comparative performance, camera, endurance or durability testing is established by the cited official sources. Use the specifications to narrow the field, then rely on local hands-on testing, return rights and service terms for the final decision.
