The strongest alternatives supported by current product and review evidence are the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) and the Alienware Aurora ACT1250. Both have configurations listed or reported with an RTX 5080, but that does not make them automatic upgrades over the OMEN 35L: compare the exact CPU, memory, storage, cooling, power supply, warranty and local price of each configuration before choosing.
This is a comparison of complete prebuilt desktops, not a ranking of graphics cards. An RTX 5080 is the common starting point, while the processor, memory layout, cooling, power delivery, chassis and support package determine how suitable a particular system is for your workload. Product families use “up to” language, so the machine shown in a review or specification record may not match the lower-priced unit in a current retailer listing.

Which RTX 5080 desktops belong on the shortlist?
The HP OMEN 35L is not a single fixed configuration. HP lists its Intel desktop with options reaching an RTX 5080 with 16 GB of GDDR7, but the maximum specification does not mean every 35L listing includes that card. The same caution applies to the alternatives: check the exact model or SKU in the listing, not just the product family name.

The evidence supports two alternatives worth investigating: Lenovo’s Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) and Alienware’s Aurora ACT1250. It does not establish that either is faster, quieter, cheaper, more reliable or better value than a configuration-matched OMEN 35L. There are no verified like-for-like RTX 5080 benchmark results or current local prices here to justify those conclusions.

Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 10: a manufacturer-documented RTX 5080 option
Lenovo’s PSREF record for the Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) lists an RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7. That makes it a concrete alternative to check if you want a prebuilt desktop from a different product line, rather than merely another configuration of the OMEN 35L.
The PSREF record is a specification resource, not proof that an RTX 5080 configuration is currently in stock where you live. Nor does the GPU entry alone tell you what CPU, memory kit, storage drives, cooling system or power supply are in a particular machine. Treat “Legion Tower 7i Gen 10” as the start of the search, then use the model number from the product page or retailer listing to establish the actual bundle.
What to verify on a Legion listing
- That the graphics card is specifically an RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7, rather than a different GPU in the same Tower 7i family.
- The exact CPU model and the cooling hardware included with that configuration.
- Memory capacity and speed, and whether the installed modules form a matched kit.
- The number and capacity of SSDs or other drives, rather than only a headline total-storage figure.
- The power supply’s rating and its cabling or connector support for the selected GPU.
- Local stock, delivery timing, warranty coverage and retailer return terms.
The available Lenovo specification evidence does not establish a current price, stock status or complete RTX 5080 bundle for a particular market. Without those details, there is no sound basis to call it a better deal than the HP.
Why the model number matters
Retailers often reuse a family name across several processor, memory and graphics-card combinations. Save the exact model number, configuration code and order summary before comparing prices. If a page changes after you configure it, the saved details are the only reliable record of what was offered. Verify that the invoice repeats the RTX 5080 designation, not merely a generic “GeForce RTX” description.
Alienware Aurora ACT1250: reported high-end configurations, with upgrade questions to check
TechRadar’s review coverage reports Aurora ACT1250 configurations with an RTX 5080 and options reaching a Core Ultra 9 285K, 64 GB of memory and up to 8 TB of storage. The review coverage identifies the system in the US, UK and Australia, but the exact configurations and retailer listings can vary by region. Confirm that an RTX 5080 version is actually offered in your market and read the local listing closely.
TechRadar also flags potential future-upgrade limits and a proprietary motherboard as drawbacks in its roundup. Those are reviewer observations, not a definitive description of every ACT1250 SKU or a substitute for checking a particular machine. Before buying, establish the motherboard and power-supply details for the exact configuration, and check what the warranty allows if you plan to open the case or change components.

Who should investigate the Aurora?
It belongs on the shortlist if its exact local RTX 5080 configuration matches the performance tier and capacity you want. Its reported high memory and storage ceilings may help you identify configurations to compare, but they do not prove that a given listing includes those maximums or that the machine is more expandable than the OMEN. Compare the installed components and service terms, not the headline maximums.
Ask the seller whether storage is one large drive or several devices, whether the listed memory is installed as a matched kit, and which power-supply and GPU-cable arrangement is fitted. If future upgrades are important, request the motherboard model or service documentation rather than assuming standard retail parts will fit. Keep written confirmation of any answer that affects your purchase decision.
What the OMEN 35L’s specifications do—and do not—tell you
HP’s Intel OMEN 35L product page lists configuration options up to a Core Ultra 9 285K, an RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7, 64 GB DDR5-5600, two 2 TB SSDs, one 2 TB HDD and an OMEN 240 mm liquid cooler. These are individual maximum options; the list does not confirm that they all appear together in a single purchasable configuration. Use the retailer’s exact SKU details to determine what you would receive.
HP lists the case at 8.27 × 16.06 × 16.14 inches and says it fits a graphics card up to 335 mm long. The card-length limit is useful if you are planning a later GPU change, but it does not by itself establish that every replacement card will fit or work. Check the replacement card’s dimensions, power requirements, cabling and the system’s power supply before upgrading.
HP describes the 35L as having “space and options to upgrade for the future.” That is HP’s promotional wording; practical upgradeability still depends on the parts in the exact system and what you intend to replace. The case dimensions and graphics-card length are only part of that assessment. Confirm motherboard, PSU, connector, cooling and warranty compatibility for the specific upgrade.

Two 2 TB SSDs plus a 2 TB hard drive would be a very different package from one 2 TB SSD, even though both listings might emphasize “up to 6 TB.” Multiple SSDs can affect boot-drive organization, expansion planning and available motherboard slots. Ask whether the operating-system drive is separate, whether a second M.2 slot remains free and whether the hard drive is included in the quoted price. Do not assign value to drives that appear only in a maximum-options table.

How to compare the three systems without being misled by maximum specs
A fair comparison starts with three purchasable listings, each confirmed to contain an RTX 5080. A family-level specification such as “up to RTX 5080” describes an available ceiling, not a guarantee about a particular unit. Once the GPU is confirmed, compare the rest of the configuration and the terms of purchase.
- Confirm the exact GPU. Check the selected SKU, order summary or manufacturer model record for “RTX 5080” and 16 GB GDDR7. Do not assume the product-family page’s maximum configuration is the one offered at the displayed price.
- Match the processor. Record the complete CPU model for each listing. A system with a different CPU is not a clean comparison, particularly when assessing performance, cooling or price.
- Compare memory as installed. Note total capacity and speed, and check whether memory is supplied as a matched kit. A headline capacity alone does not describe the full memory configuration.
- Separate storage capacity from drive layout. Write down each drive’s type and capacity. Two systems with the same total storage may have different numbers of SSDs or a different mix of SSD and hard-drive storage.
- Check cooling and power delivery. Record the cooling hardware and the power supply specification, including GPU cabling or connectors. Do not infer PSU suitability from the GPU name alone.
- Compare the chassis and upgrade path. Check case dimensions and component clearances, then investigate motherboard and PSU compatibility for the upgrades you might actually make. A reviewer’s upgradeability concern is a reason to verify the exact Aurora, not proof that every model has the same restriction.
- Compare the purchase terms in your market. Use current local prices and stock, delivery, warranty and return terms. These can change by retailer and region, and no common price or equivalent warranty is established for the three systems here.
Keep the resulting comparison tied to the exact listings. If one system includes more memory or storage, either compare it at that configuration or account for the difference explicitly; do not credit a maximum option that is not in the cart. Likewise, a lower current price is not evidence of better value unless the GPU, other parts and purchase terms are sufficiently comparable.
Build a like-for-like price sheet
Record the advertised price, taxes or delivery charges, included operating system, warranty length and return window. Then list the CPU, GPU, memory, storage, cooler and PSU in separate columns. This prevents a large storage headline or a discounted base model from disguising a weaker bundle. If a retailer offers paid upgrades, compare the final configured total, not the starting price.

Price questions such as “Is this HP OMEN 35L with an RTX 5080 and Core i7-14700F worth $2,600?” or “Is $2,512 a good price for this RTX 5080 and Ultra 9 build?” are useful ways to frame a decision, but a dollar figure alone cannot answer them. The relevant comparison is the complete, current configuration in the same market, including support and return rights.
Performance claims: what the available reviews can support
The cited coverage does not provide a matched RTX 5080 benchmark comparison between the OMEN 35L, Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 and Aurora ACT1250. It therefore cannot support a ranking of their gaming performance, thermals, noise or value.
Tom’s Guide describes testing an OMEN 35L review sample with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB of DDR5 memory and an RTX 5070 Ti. Its review discussion says 35L configurations reach an RTX 5080, but the tested sample was not an RTX 5080 system. Its observations should not be presented as RTX 5080 benchmark results, or used as a direct performance comparison against either alternative.

PC Gamer’s 2026 review says an NZXT Player Three Prime with an RTX 5090 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D beat the 35L sample in that publication’s comparison, at substantially higher cost. That result does not make the NZXT a direct RTX 5080 alternative or establish better value for this shortlist. It simply illustrates why different GPUs, CPUs and prices cannot be mixed into one ranking.
For a performance decision, seek tests that identify the exact GPU and CPU configuration and use comparable test conditions. A benchmark from a 5070 Ti sample, an RTX 5090 system or a maximum configuration listed on a product page does not answer how two RTX 5080 prebuilts compare.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Upgrade planning and ownership checks
Before ordering, write down the upgrades you realistically expect: additional memory, another SSD, a replacement graphics card or a processor change. For each one, confirm physical clearance, motherboard slot availability, PSU capacity and connector support. The OMEN’s stated 335 mm graphics-card clearance is a useful starting measurement, not a guarantee for every board partner card. A longer or thicker card can also affect adjacent slots and airflow.
Opening a prebuilt may affect service procedures even when upgrades are physically possible. Read the local warranty language and ask whether replacing memory or storage requires authorized service. For the Aurora, give extra attention to the motherboard and future-upgrade limitations noted by TechRadar. For Lenovo and HP, obtain the service manual or model-specific parts information when an upgrade path is central to your decision.
Cooling deserves the same scrutiny. HP lists an OMEN 240 mm liquid cooler among its options, but that does not prove every RTX 5080 SKU includes it. Record the cooler supplied with the exact order and check radiator clearance before planning a replacement. Do not infer noise or thermal performance from cooler size alone; those require tests of the same configuration.
Common buying pitfalls
- Confusing “up to” with “included.” Maximum GPU, memory and storage figures describe what a family may offer, not what the displayed base price contains.
- Comparing a review sample with a different retail unit. The Tom’s Guide OMEN sample used an RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 32 GB memory, so it is not an RTX 5080 test.
- Ignoring the power supply. An RTX 5080 listing without a clearly stated PSU rating and connector arrangement leaves an important compatibility question unanswered.
- Using total storage as a quality shortcut. Drive count, interface and operating-system placement matter as much as the combined terabyte figure.
- Assuming regional availability. Aurora coverage includes the US, UK and Australia, while a particular Lenovo or HP configuration may not ship to your location.
- Treating reviewer concerns as universal facts. TechRadar’s proprietary-motherboard and upgrade observations apply as cautions to investigate, not as proof that every ACT1250 has identical limitations.
- Forgetting post-purchase terms. Delivery damage procedures, return windows and warranty coverage can materially change the practical value of a prebuilt.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the OMEN 35L as your baseline if its exact RTX 5080 listing meets your needs and its verified components, dimensions, support terms and price suit you. Its official specification page documents the relevant maximum options and its case dimensions.
- Investigate the Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 if you find a local, exact RTX 5080 model and want to compare Lenovo’s complete bundle against the HP. The specification record confirms an RTX 5080 option, not current stock or pricing.
- Investigate the Aurora ACT1250 if a local RTX 5080 configuration is available and its specific component bundle appeals to you. Pay particular attention to the motherboard, upgrade plans and warranty terms in light of TechRadar’s reviewer-identified upgrade concerns.
There is no evidence-based winner without current, configuration-matched listings. The useful choice is the one whose actual GPU, CPU, memory, storage, cooling, PSU and support package best fits your priorities at a price you can verify locally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the HP OMEN 35L always sold with an RTX 5080?
No. HP lists the Intel OMEN 35L with options reaching an RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7. Check the exact SKU or order summary because lower configurations use different graphics cards.
Does the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 have an RTX 5080?
Lenovo’s PSREF record includes a Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) configuration with an RTX 5080 and 16 GB GDDR7. Confirm the model number, local stock and the rest of the component bundle before buying.
What RTX 5080 options are reported for the Alienware Aurora ACT1250?
TechRadar reports Aurora ACT1250 configurations reaching an RTX 5080, Core Ultra 9 285K, 64 GB of memory and up to 8 TB of storage. Regional listings can differ, so verify the exact local configuration.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIs the Aurora ACT1250 easy to upgrade?
Do not assume so. TechRadar flags potential future-upgrade limits and a proprietary motherboard as drawbacks. Treat those as reasons to inspect the exact motherboard, PSU and warranty terms for your SKU.
Is $2,600 a good price for an OMEN 35L with an RTX 5080?
A price cannot be judged without the complete configuration and market context. Compare the CPU, memory, storage, cooler, PSU, warranty, taxes, delivery and return terms with current Lenovo and Alienware listings.
Can I use an RTX 5080 benchmark from a Tom’s Guide OMEN review?
Not for a direct RTX 5080 comparison. Tom’s Guide tested an OMEN sample with an RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 32 GB DDR5. That sample does not represent RTX 5080 performance.
Will any replacement graphics card fit the OMEN 35L?
HP lists support for a graphics card up to 335 mm long, but you must also check thickness, power requirements, connectors, PSU capacity and airflow for the specific replacement card.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Is the NZXT Player Three Prime a direct alternative here?
Not on the available comparison. PC Gamer’s 2026 review describes an RTX 5090 configuration beating an OMEN sample at substantially higher cost. That does not establish it as an RTX 5080 alternative or a better value.
The Bottom Line
The Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 and Alienware Aurora ACT1250 are credible RTX 5080 prebuilt desktops to investigate alongside the HP OMEN 35L. None can be named the winner from family-level specifications alone. Verify the exact GPU, CPU, memory, storage, cooling, PSU, chassis clearances, upgrade rules, warranty, return policy, stock and local delivered price before placing the order.
