It puts contextual information on the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display without requiring a separate planning app. Google’s Gemini Daily Brief is better for a cross-app, action-oriented digest, while Motorola’s Moto AI Catch me up is the focused choice for summarizing unread notifications and recent missed calls. The right option depends on whether you want glanceable cards, a planning summary or notification catch-up.
What Samsung Now Brief actually does
Samsung describes Now Brief as a feature that “organizes insights and updates about your day in short, efficient briefs.” It is designed as a daily information surface rather than a single-purpose notification tool. Depending on the Galaxy device, software version, settings and connected services, it can bring together calendar events, news, daily activity, reminders and recommendations.

Samsung’s support information also lists selectable categories that can include health and wellness, travel, schedule reminders, phone settings, memories, music and podcasts, smart-home information and news headlines. That breadth is important when judging alternatives: a notification summarizer may replace only one part of the experience, while a contextual widget may show useful information without producing a unified daily narrative.
Now Brief is not universal across all Android phones. Samsung limits availability to selected devices and software versions, and some content depends on an internet connection or particular Samsung applications. An alternative therefore needs to be judged on both capability and eligibility, not just on whether its name sounds similar.

| Alternative | What it provides | Where it appears | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel At a Glance | Contextual information and reminders surfaced by the Pixel experience | Lock screen, home screen and Always On Display | A built-in, glanceable Pixel equivalent | It is a contextual surface, not a documented one-for-one replacement for every Now Brief category |
| Gemini Daily Brief | Personalized summaries from connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats, with suggested next steps | Gemini mobile, web and Live surfaces for eligible users | Cross-app planning and longer-term follow-through | Gradual rollout and strict account, age, country, language and setup requirements |

1. Google Pixel At a Glance: the closest built-in replacement
Why it is the nearest match
Google’s Pixel support documentation places At a Glance on three highly visible surfaces: the lock screen, the home screen and the Always On Display. That placement makes it the strongest choice for someone who wants information to appear as part of the phone’s normal interface instead of opening a separate app each morning.
The experience is best understood as a contextual information widget or surface. It can present relevant information when the phone determines that it is useful, so it resembles the “glanceable” part of Now Brief more closely than an inbox or chat-based assistant does. A Pixel owner can see timely context while checking the phone, even when no full briefing session has been started.

What it does not promise
At a Glance should not be described as a complete reproduction of Samsung’s category list. The available documentation establishes its location and contextual role, but does not establish that it combines every Now Brief area such as health and wellness, travel, memories, podcasts, smart-home updates and news into one equivalent digest.
That distinction matters if your definition of a replacement is “show me something useful without opening an app.” Pixel fits well. If your definition is “assemble every important part of my day into one scheduled report,” Gemini Daily Brief is the more relevant comparison.
Who should choose it
- People moving from a Galaxy phone to a Google Pixel phone who want an integrated Android surface.
- Readers who value information on the lock screen, home screen or Always On Display.
- Anyone who prefers contextual cards and reminders over a long generated summary.
- Users who want a built-in experience rather than depending on a separate third-party organizer.
Key trade-off
At a Glance trades breadth of explanation for immediacy. It is visible in the places you already look, but it is not documented as a full cross-service daily planner. Choose it when the physical location of the information matters more than receiving a narrative digest.
Rank #2
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
2. Gemini Daily Brief: the broadest planning-oriented option
How the digest is organized
Google describes Daily Brief in Gemini as a proactive, personalized overview. Its documented sources include connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats. The brief is divided into two principal sections:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Top of mind: timely, actionable items that may need attention now.
- Looking ahead: longer-term goals and suggested next steps.
This makes Daily Brief materially different from At a Glance. Instead of primarily placing contextual cards on the phone surface, it uses information from connected services to help the user decide what to do next. It is the strongest fit for a reader who wants a planning conversation or digest rather than a lock-screen reminder.
Eligibility and rollout limits
Access is being released gradually. Google’s documented requirements include all of the following:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be in the United States.
- You must use a personal Google Account.
- Google Workspace must be connected.
- Memory must be enabled.
- The current documented language is English.
Eligible users may encounter Daily Brief in Gemini’s mobile, web and Live surfaces. Those surfaces are not the same as a system-level lock-screen card, so the feature may feel less immediate than At a Glance even when it offers more planning context.
Why connected accounts matter
Daily Brief’s value depends on the information it is allowed to use. Gmail and Calendar access can supply messages, appointments and deadlines; Gemini chats can provide continuity about topics or goals discussed previously. Connecting those services also creates a larger account and privacy decision than using a simple on-device glanceable widget.
Before enabling it, check which Google account is active and whether Workspace is connected as required. A personal-account requirement means a work-managed or school-managed account may not qualify, even if the phone and Gemini application are otherwise compatible.
Who should choose it
- People who want a daily overview that connects email, calendar and prior Gemini conversations.
- Users who care about suggested next steps and longer-term goals.
- Readers who are comfortable with an account-connected assistant rather than a purely device-level surface.
- People in the United States who meet the age, account, language and rollout requirements.
Key trade-off
Gemini Daily Brief offers the broadest documented cross-app planning scope among these alternatives, but availability is conditional. It is not a dependable recommendation for every Android owner because country, age, account type, connected Workspace status, Memory settings and gradual rollout all affect access.
3. Motorola Moto AI Catch me up: the notification specialist
What Catch me up summarizes
Motorola presents Moto AI as a group of organization tools, and Catch me up is the component specifically aimed at missed information. Motorola’s detailed support description says it summarizes unread notifications from supported messaging apps and missed calls received during the previous 24 hours.
That narrow scope can be an advantage. If the main reason you liked Now Brief was quickly understanding what happened while you were busy, Catch me up can reduce the need to open each conversation or inspect the notification shade one by one.

What is excluded
The support documentation identifies several exclusions. Silent notifications are left out. Certain video calls, VoIP calls and Wi-Fi calls are also excluded. The summary is therefore not a complete transcript of everything that happened on the phone during the day.
Catch me up also does not claim to combine calendar events, travel details, health information, news headlines, recommendations, music, podcasts or smart-home status. Treat it as a notification catch-up tool, not as a general daily planner.
Other Moto AI organization features
Motorola’s documented Moto AI experiences also include meeting recording and transcription, saving screenshots or notes for later recall, and phone or web search. Those tools may complement Catch me up, but they are separate functions. Their existence does not turn the notification summary into a Now Brief equivalent.
Rank #4
- Google Pixel 10 Pro is the ultimate Pixel experience, featuring advanced AI with Gemini, unbelievable camera quality, impeccable design in two sizes, and the next-gen Google Tensor G5 chip[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works - Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[11]
- Pixel’s pro camera system makes everything look amazing, even in low light; capture more of the scene with advanced Google AI models, and bring out incredible details with 100x Pro Res Zoom, stunning 50 MP images, and super steady videos in 8K[10]
- Pixel 10 Pro is built with durable aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch and drop resistance; the 6.3-inch Super Actua display with 3,300-nit peak brightness is easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight[3,13,18]
Who should choose it
- Motorola phone owners whose priority is unread messages and missed calls.
- People who regularly return to their phone after several hours away.
- Users who prefer a compact summary of recent notifications over calendar or email planning.
- Readers who understand that only supported notification types and the previous 24-hour window are covered.
Key trade-off
Catch me up is the most focused option. Its limited remit can make the result easier to understand, but it cannot replace the broader information categories associated with Samsung Now Brief.

1. Breadth of information sources
| Need | Best fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar, email and assistant-based planning | Gemini Daily Brief | It documents connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats as sources. |
| Context visible during normal phone use | Pixel At a Glance | It appears on the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display. |
| Unread messages and missed calls | Moto AI Catch me up | It summarizes supported messaging notifications and missed calls from the past 24 hours. |
| Samsung-specific categories such as health, travel, memories or smart-home information | No documented one-for-one substitute | The available descriptions do not establish complete parity for any alternative. |
2. Where you see the result
At a Glance has the clearest always-visible placement: lock screen, home screen and Always On Display. Gemini Daily Brief is delivered through Gemini mobile, web and Live surfaces, which makes it more app-centered. Catch me up belongs to Moto AI and focuses on a notification summary rather than persistent lock-screen cards.
3. Personalization and permissions
At a Glance is integrated into the Pixel experience and is primarily useful because of its contextual placement. Gemini Daily Brief requires connected services and Memory, so its personalization is explicitly tied to account data. Catch me up depends on access to supported notifications and call information, while silent and certain internet-based call types are excluded.
4. Availability
| Feature | Availability factors documented by the manufacturer |
|---|---|
| Samsung Now Brief | Selected Galaxy devices and software versions; some content requires internet access or particular Samsung apps. |
| Pixel At a Glance | Presented as part of the Pixel experience on supported Pixel phones; the documented description establishes the surfaces, not universal availability across every Android model. |
| Gemini Daily Brief | Gradual release; age 18 or older; United States; personal Google Account; connected Google Workspace; Memory enabled; English-only in the current documentation; eligible Gemini mobile, web and Live surfaces. |
| Moto AI Catch me up | Available on supported Motorola phones and limited to supported notification and call types. |
5. Output style
Now Brief is described as a short, efficient brief. At a Glance uses contextual information surfaced in the phone interface. Gemini Daily Brief is a proactive overview divided into immediate and forward-looking sections. Catch me up produces a summary of unread notifications and recent missed calls. These are different output models, so choosing by brand alone can lead to the wrong experience.

If you are choosing a phone
Choose a Google Pixel phone when you want the closest built-in, glanceable experience and care about information appearing on the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display. Choose a Motorola phone with supported Moto AI when notification catch-up is the main requirement. Consider Gemini Daily Brief only after confirming that its account, country, language and rollout conditions apply to you; it is a service feature rather than a guarantee attached to every Android handset.
If you already own a Pixel
Start with At a Glance if your priority is seeing useful context without opening an application. If your goal is a richer planning digest, check Gemini for Daily Brief eligibility and the required account connections. The two experiences can serve different moments: one is glanceable and surface-level, while the other is cross-app and action-oriented.

- Pixel’s Adaptive Battery can last over 24 hours; when Extreme Battery Saver is turned on, it can last up to 72 hours[3]
- The 6.3-inch Pixel 7 display is super sharp, with rich, vivid colors; it’s fast and responsive for smoother gaming, scrolling, and moving between apps[4]
- Google Pixel 7 has wide and ultrawide lenses with up to 8x Super Res Zoom[5]; and Cinematic Blur brings more drama to your videos
If you already own a Motorola phone
Use Catch me up when you return to a backlog of unread notifications or missed calls. Set expectations around the 24-hour window and exclusions for silent notifications and certain video, VoIP or Wi-Fi calls. Moto AI’s other organization tools can help with meetings, saved screenshots, notes and search, but they do not broaden Catch me up into a general daily briefing.
If you want a daily briefing without a Samsung Galaxy phone
There is no single documented replacement that reproduces every Now Brief category on every Android phone. Pixel At a Glance is the practical built-in substitute for glanceable updates. Gemini Daily Brief is the closest match for a personalized planning digest when you meet Google’s eligibility rules. Moto AI Catch me up covers the narrower case of unread notifications and recent missed calls.
Privacy and account trade-offs
The more services a briefing can read, the more important account and permission choices become. Gemini Daily Brief explicitly uses connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats, and requires Memory to be enabled. Review which personal account is connected before relying on its summaries, particularly if the phone also contains work or school accounts.
Pixel At a Glance presents information in prominent phone surfaces, so consider whether reminders or contextual details should be visible on the lock screen or Always On Display. Moto AI Catch me up depends on notification and call data, but its exclusions mean that reducing notification exposure can also reduce what the summary can cover.
Samsung Now Brief likewise depends partly on selected Samsung applications and internet access for some content. Across all three ecosystems, availability and usefulness are shaped by permissions, connected services, software version and regional rollout—not only by the phone’s processor or Android version.
A practical selection checklist
- Define the output you want. Pick contextual cards, a planning digest or a notification summary before comparing phones.
- Check the surface. If you need information on the lock screen, home screen or Always On Display, Pixel At a Glance is the relevant match. If opening Gemini is acceptable, Daily Brief offers a different style of result.
- List the data sources you need. Gmail, Calendar and Gemini chats point toward Daily Brief; unread messages and missed calls point toward Catch me up.
- Verify eligibility. Check device support, software version, country, language, account type, age requirement, connected services and rollout status.
- Review privacy settings. Decide whether the convenience of connected email, calendar, chat, notification and call data is appropriate for your account.
- Test the scope against your routine. A tool that summarizes only the previous 24 hours will not replace a calendar planner, while a lock-screen surface may be preferable to a generated narrative if you only need quick reminders.
Bottom line: which is the best alternative?
For most readers seeking the closest built-in replacement, choose Pixel At a Glance. It is the clearest analogue to the glanceable part of Now Brief because it is integrated into the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display. Choose Gemini Daily Brief when cross-app planning, actionable priorities and longer-term goals matter more than instant lock-screen visibility and you satisfy Google’s current eligibility rules. Choose Moto AI Catch me up when the real problem is unread notifications and missed calls from the last day.
None of these descriptions establishes complete feature parity with Samsung Now Brief, universal availability or a comparative accuracy winner. The best choice is the one whose information sources, display surface and eligibility match how you actually use your Android phone.
