How to choose an alternative
Start with the feature that would make you leave the Galaxy A or Pixel A range, rather than comparing phones by brand or headline specifications alone.
- Camera flexibility: Check whether you want a dedicated telephoto camera and optical zoom. A high megapixel count by itself does not establish that a phone takes better photos.
- Size: Screen measurements help distinguish compact from large phones, but do not tell the whole story about a phone’s dimensions or weight.
- Charging: Separate wired charging speed from wireless charging. A phone can offer one without the other.
- Software and support: Compare the update commitment for the exact model and regional variant. The cited comparisons identify a support-policy advantage for the Galaxy A37 over the Moto G Stylus (2026), but do not provide a complete, comparable support schedule for every candidate here.
- Storage: Check built-in capacity and whether the phone accepts a microSD card. Do not assume storage expansion from one model in a product family applies to another.
- Price and availability: The cited figures are comparison prices, not confirmed offers. Regional configurations, seller terms, warranty, and carrier compatibility can change the practical value.
Shortlist by what matters most
For a telephoto camera and distinctive design: Nothing Phone (4a) Pro
Android Authority’s 2026 alternatives guide describes the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro as having a Glyph Matrix design, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, and a camera array that includes a periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. That makes it the most distinctive fit here for someone who wants more camera flexibility than a typical midrange setup. These are reported specifications and positioning, not evidence of a controlled camera comparison. Verify the model and configuration sold in your market.

For a built-in stylus: Motorola Moto G Stylus (2026)
Android Authority reports that this model pairs an active stylus with a 6.7-inch OLED display, a 5,200mAh battery, 68W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging. It is the clearest choice in this shortlist if handwriting, sketching, or marking up documents on the phone is a priority. The counterpoint in the same guide is the Galaxy A37’s better update policy; check current, region-specific support terms before choosing either.
For a smaller screen and wireless charging: Google Pixel 10a
Android Central’s 2026 comparison gives the Pixel 10a a 6.3-inch display, versus 6.7 inches on the Galaxy A37, and says the Pixel supports wireless charging. It characterizes the Samsung as offering a larger display and faster wired charging. This is a useful choice if the A-series alternative you are considering feels too large, but compare the exact local versions and their current prices.

For a lower-cost previous flagship: refurbished Galaxy S24
Android Authority includes a refurbished Galaxy S24 among its alternatives. A previous flagship can be appealing when its current refurbished price is lower than a new midrange phone, but the guide does not establish the condition or value of any particular listing. Check the refurbisher’s condition grade, battery information, warranty and return policy, carrier compatibility, and seller reputation before comparing prices.

The Galaxy A37 and A57 are comparison points rather than alternatives to the Galaxy A line. Samsung’s US support comparison lists both with 6.7-inch 120Hz displays, 5,000mAh batteries, and wired charging up to 45W; neither supports wireless charging. The A57 configuration shown has 8GB RAM, with 128GB or 256GB storage. The A37 is listed as either 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB.

Samsung’s same US comparison lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display on the A17, A27, A37, and A57. It lists the A17 at 90Hz and the A27, A37, and A57 at 120Hz. All four have 5,000mAh batteries and 50MP main cameras, but their other camera specifications differ. Those camera specifications do not establish relative photo quality.
The A17 and A27 support microSD cards up to 2TB; the A37 and A57 do not. The A17 and A27 are listed for wired charging up to 25W, while the A37 and A57 are listed up to 45W. Samsung says the listed models do not support wireless charging or PowerShare. These specifications come from Samsung’s US support comparison; confirm the version sold in your country.

Reported prices and how to use them
The 2026 comparison articles report starting or list prices of about $450 for the Galaxy A37, $499.99 for the Pixel 10a, $549.99 for the Galaxy A57, and roughly $499 each for the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro and Moto G Stylus (2026). TechRadar also reports UK and Australian prices for some models, but those figures are not reproduced here because the available material does not give the amounts. These are publisher-reported comparison prices, not verified live listings; retailer prices and promotions may differ.

What the comparisons do—and do not—show
The cited material provides specifications and editorial comparisons, not a controlled camera test across all the phones. It does not establish that one shortlisted phone is best overall, or provide a market-wide reliability, satisfaction, or sales statistic. Android Central also notes that it had not yet tested the Galaxy A37 camera in its comparison. Treat camera hardware details as clues about features, not proof of which phone takes the best pictures.
Samsung’s product comparison describes its A-series displays as offering vivid visuals and smooth performance. That is manufacturer marketing language, not an independent assessment; Samsung’s own table lists the A17 at 90Hz, while the A27, A37, and A57 are listed at 120Hz.
