Best alternatives to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses for cameras, audio, and AI

The best alternative depends on what you want glasses to do. XREAL One Pro and VITURE Beast are the strongest choices for a private cinema screen, gaming display, or virtual monitors. Even Realities G2 is the privacy-first option because it shows text without a camera or speakers. Oakley Meta Vanguard is the most capable sports-capture model. Rokid AI Glasses Style and Solos AirGo V2 make more sense if choosing among several AI assistants matters. Dymesty AI Smart Glasses and Lucyd Lyte focus on camera-free calls, music, and voice assistance.

These are not interchangeable upgrades. Some replace a phone or laptop screen, some add a small heads-up display, some capture photos and video, and some are essentially open-ear headphones in prescription frames. The right choice starts with deciding whether you need eye-level capture, eye-level information, or simply hands-free audio.

What Ray-Ban Meta establishes as the baseline

Ray-Ban Meta combines a camera, open-ear audio, microphones, and voice AI in conventional-looking glasses. Ray-Ban lists Bluetooth 5.3 and a camera capable of up to 2203×2938-pixel capture at 30 frames per second. EssilorLuxottica describes hands-free photos and video, calls, real-time translation, and Meta AI assistance.

WIRED’s Gen 2 summary identifies a 12-MP camera, five microphones, 32 GB of storage, IPX4 water resistance, and no in-lens display. AI features depend on a paired smartphone and an internet connection, so the glasses are not a self-contained computer. Meta and Ray-Ban reported more than 7 million pairs sold in 2025, as reported by WIRED.

#1 Best Overall
XREAL One Pro AR Glasses with X1 Chip, 171" 120Hz FHD Display, Native 3 DoF | 57°FOV, X-Prism Optics, Real 3D, XR Glasses for iPhone 17/16, Steam Deck, ROG, Mac, PC, Android & iOS, M (IPD 57-66mm)
  • XREAL's Self-Developed X1 Spatial Computing Chip: Delivers Native 3DoF tracking with ultra-low 3ms M2P latency, ensuring stable visuals even during rapid movements. With the optional XREAL Eye, full 6DoF spatial anchoring. It delivers high processing power, seamless compatibility with devices, and distortion-free visuals through advanced stabilization.
  • The New Optic Engine-X-Prism Optics: XREAL’s advanced lens and projection system—ultra-slim, precision-engineered optics that project a large, sharp virtual screen right in front of your eyes, while still letting you see your real surroundings clearly. With a best-in-class 57° FOV, Optic Engine 4.0 recreates the feeling of watching a massive 171-inch screen from four meters away—all in lightweight, compact design. Its advanced anti-glare design minimizes reflections and light interference, enhancing clarity and immersion.
  • Experience True AR with 6 DoF, Spatial Anchor Anytime: Pairing with XREAL Eye, anchor your screen anywhere in your room, so it stays perfectly fixed in place—even as you walk around, lean in, or change your position. Unlike 3DoF, which keeps the screen at a constant distance relative to your head movements, 6DoF keeps your virtual screen locked to a real spot in your space for true spatial freedom and a more natural, immersive AR experience.
  • REAL 3D – Turn everything you watch into an immersive 3D experience: REAL 3D Now Available on All One Series Glasses, instantly transforming all your content—from games and movies to apps and photos—into true 3D with a single switch. Experience richer depth and lifelike visuals across everything you watch or play.
  • 57°FOV, 171'' Spatial Screen – More Immersive Visual Experience: Experience a virtual screen starting at 171 inches wide, filling your view with blockbuster visuals, thanks to XREAL’s advanced optics and industry-leading 57° FOV. Powered by Sony’s 0.55' Micro-OLED display technology and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, get swept into your games or movies with immersion that rivals traditional home theaters—without the size, setup, or space concerns.

That baseline creates three distinct comparison questions:

  • Camera: Is recording central to the product, optional through an accessory, or absent?
  • Display: Do you want no display, monochrome text, or a full-color screen large enough for video and games?
  • Audio and AI: Do you need open-ear speakers and calls, or a choice of assistants and language tools?

Best private-screen alternatives

XREAL One Pro: the closest match for a personal big screen

WIRED lists XREAL One Pro at $599 on Amazon. Its Sony micro-OLED display produces 1920×1080 pixels per eye, reaches up to 700 nits, and spans a 57-degree field of view. Bose stereo speakers handle audio, while an onboard X1 chip provides three-degrees-of-freedom head tracking.

The important distinction is that XREAL One Pro is a display accessory, not a standalone camera-and-audio companion. It needs a connected source device, so the experience is closer to replacing a phone, tablet, or laptop screen than to recording the world from your face. That makes it suitable for travel, gaming, watching movies, and creating a large virtual monitor without carrying a physical monitor.

Optional camera through XREAL Eye

The optional XREAL Eye accessory adds a 12-MP camera capable of 1080p video at 60 frames per second. Because the camera is an add-on, buyers can choose a display-first setup and add capture later. Do not treat that accessory as equivalent to a self-contained Ray-Ban Meta workflow: the glasses still rely on a connected device for their core experience.

VITURE Beast: brighter display and higher pixel count

WIRED lists VITURE Beast at $549 on Amazon. It uses a 1920×1200-per-eye Sony micro-OLED display, up to 1,250 nits of brightness, a 58-degree field of view, Harman stereo speakers, and three-degrees-of-freedom head tracking.

VITURE Beast is strongest when a connected source device is already part of your setup. The higher per-eye resolution and brightness favor text, games, and video in changing lighting, while the wide field of view makes a virtual multi-monitor arrangement more practical. Like XREAL One Pro, it is not a direct replacement for camera glasses: it shows content from another device rather than independently capturing photos and video.

Private-screen trade-offs

  • Both models require a connected source device, unlike a simple Bluetooth audio product.
  • Neither is a camera-first product out of the box.
  • Their full-color displays are better for movies and games than monochrome heads-up glasses, but they do not provide Ray-Ban Meta’s open-ended capture workflow.
  • Prices are WIRED’s Amazon listings and can change with stock, promotions, region, and product revisions.

Best privacy-first display

Even Realities G2: text without a camera or speakers

Even Realities G2 takes the opposite approach from camera-and-audio glasses. WIRED describes a camera-free, speaker-free design with a bright monochrome display. TechRepublic describes its waveguide display, touch controls, or an R1 ring, and roughly two-day battery life.

Rank #2
XREAL One Pro AR Glasses with X1 Chip, 171" 120Hz FHD Display, Native 3 DoF | 57°FOV, X-Prism Optics, Real 3D, XR Glasses for iPhone 17/16, Steam Deck, ROG, Mac, PC, Android & iOS, L (IPD 66-75mm)
  • XREAL's Self-Developed X1 Spatial Computing Chip: Delivers Native 3DoF tracking with ultra-low 3ms M2P latency, ensuring stable visuals even during rapid movements. With the optional XREAL Eye, full 6DoF spatial anchoring. It delivers high processing power, seamless compatibility with devices, and distortion-free visuals through advanced stabilization.

The display supports teleprompting and translation in 33 languages. Prescription support spans -12.00 to +12.00 diopters, making it more adaptable than many display wearables for people who need corrective lenses. Because there is no camera, G2 cannot take photos or record video. Because there are no built-in speakers, it cannot provide the open-ear music and call experience associated with Ray-Ban Meta.

This is a privacy and information product rather than a media-viewing product. It suits presenters who need prompts, travelers who want translated text, and workplaces where a camera on a pair of glasses would create objections. WIRED reviewer Chris Haslam called it “the sharpest-looking smart glasses available.”

Best sports-focused camera and audio

Oakley Meta Vanguard: capture during workouts

WIRED lists Oakley Meta Vanguard at $499 on Amazon. It has a 12-MP camera, open-ear speakers, five microphones, 32 GB of storage, IP67 protection, a reported weight of 66 grams, and up to nine hours of battery life.

Garmin integrations can trigger automatic capture or Meta AI alerts during workouts. IP67 protection gives it a substantially more rugged specification than the IPX4 rating reported for Ray-Ban Meta, which matters for sweat, dust, and outdoor use. The open-ear design keeps environmental awareness available while you listen to prompts or take calls.

The trade-off is endurance and image hardware relative to a dedicated action camera. WIRED notes that the camera remains below a purpose-built action camera in sensor capability, storage, and recording endurance. Choose Vanguard when glasses-level convenience and workout integration matter more than the maximum image quality or longest recording session.

Although Vanguard is an alternative frame design, it remains within the Meta AI ecosystem. Buyers specifically trying to leave Meta’s software and account requirements should look at Rokid, Solos, Even Realities, Dymesty, or Lucyd instead.

Best alternatives for multiple AI assistants

Rokid AI Glasses Style

TechRepublic positions Rokid AI Glasses Style as a 38.5-gram option supporting ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. Microsoft Translator supports 89 languages online and six languages offline. That combination is useful if you want to switch among assistants or need translation that is not tied to one vendor’s model.

Rank #3
XREAL 1S AR Glasses, 500" Virtual Screen, Powered by X1 Chip, Native 3DoF | XR Glasses with 52° FOV, REAL 3D, Supports All USB-C DP Devices Including iPhone 17/16 and Handhelds, like ROG/SteamDeck
  • Giant Virtual Screen – Immersive Theater Anywhere: Step into a breathtaking virtual screen up to 500 inches, transforming movies, games, and apps into larger‑than‑life experiences. Whether you’re commuting, flying, or unwinding at home, your personal cinema travels with you—bringing immersive entertainment wherever life goes.
  • Premium Display Quality – Smooth, Sharp, and True-to-Life: XREAL 1S delivers ultra‑smooth viewing with a 120Hz refresh rate in 3DoF mode and a 90Hz global refresh that eliminates flicker and blur. Every unit is individually color‑tuned for precise, natural hues. The redesigned optical engine boosts clarity by 9%, delivering crisp detail from center to edge. Advanced optical alignment ensures each image point locks perfectly to your eye, keeping visuals sharp, vivid, and lifelike.
  • Spatial Viewing Modes – Work, Watch, and Play on Your Terms: Shape your environment with XREAL 1S. Effortlessly switch between 0DoF follow mode, 3DoF anchor mode, Ultrawide Mode (32:9 or 21:9), Real 3D Mode, and Side-View Mode — ideal for both deep focus and entertainment. Pair with XREAL Eye to unlock 6DoF spatial anchoring, allowing for total freedom of movement while your screen stays pinned.
  • Native 3DoF Spatial Screen – Plug & Play Freedom: XREAL 1S brings your AR experience to life with native 3DoF spatial viewing powered by the X1 chip. No apps, no setup — simply connect to any USB‑C DP‑enabled device and step straight into expansive spatial content. With rock‑solid stability and smooth head tracking, every session feels natural and comfortable, free from motion sickness and distractions, keeping you fully immersed.
  • REAL 3D – Instant Spatial Depth for Everything You Watch: XREAL 1S debuts the world’s first on‑glasses REAL 3D spatial technology, instantly transforming all your content—from games and movies to apps and photos—into true 3D with a single switch. Experience richer depth and lifelike visuals across everything you watch or play, supported at up to 30fps with just 90–100ms latency for smooth, natural viewing.

The light weight is relevant for all-day wear, but software capabilities can change as assistant integrations and firmware are updated. Verify the languages, account requirements, phone compatibility, and availability in your country before buying; the quoted online and offline language counts are product claims reported by TechRepublic, not a guarantee that every feature works in every region.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Solos AirGo V2

TechRepublic identifies Solos AirGo V2 as another multi-AI choice with swappable batteries. Replaceable power is valuable for long workdays or travel because you can carry a charged battery instead of waiting for the frames to recharge.

The available information establishes multi-AI support and the swappable-battery design, but not a universal camera resolution, display specification, or language list. Treat AirGo V2 as an assistant-and-audio decision rather than assuming it matches the camera, display, or water-resistance specifications of the other products in this guide.

Best camera-free audio and endurance options

Dymesty AI Smart Glasses

TechRepublic describes Dymesty’s frames as 35-gram, camera-free titanium glasses with a claimed 48-hour battery. Features include meeting transcription, speaker identification, summaries, and translation across more than 100 languages.

Camera-free construction removes the most obvious recording concern in meetings and shared spaces. In return, Dymesty cannot capture photos or video. The 48-hour figure is a manufacturer claim reported by TechRepublic, so real runtime will depend on transcription, translation, call volume, and assistant use. This product is best for people who want searchable meeting context and language help rather than visual capture.

Lucyd Lyte

Lucyd Lyte is a lower-cost open-ear audio option with up to 10 hours of battery life and phone-based assistant access. It is closer to smart headphones built into eyewear than to display glasses or camera glasses.

Choose it for calls, music, and voice commands when you already rely on your phone for processing. It does not answer the question “which glasses can show me a private movie?” and it is not a camera replacement; its value is simple, hands-free audio without adding a camera to the frame.

Camera, display, audio, and AI: how the categories differ

Camera capability

Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta Vanguard place capture at the center of the product. Both are reported with 12-MP cameras, while Ray-Ban’s product page also lists capture up to 2203×2938 pixels at 30 frames per second. XREAL One Pro can add a 12-MP, 1080p/60 camera through the optional XREAL Eye accessory, but the base product is display-first. Even Realities G2 and Dymesty are camera-free by design.

Ask whether you need spontaneous first-person photos, longer sports recording, or no recording capability at all. Glasses cameras are convenient because your hands remain free, but a dedicated action camera remains the stronger choice when sensor performance, storage, and recording endurance are the priority.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Display type

There are three materially different experiences:

  • No display: Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta Vanguard, Dymesty, and Lucyd communicate through audio and a phone.
  • Monochrome heads-up text: Even Realities G2 shows prompts and translations while remaining camera-free and speaker-free.
  • Full-color private screen: XREAL One Pro and VITURE Beast create a large virtual image for video, games, and monitors, but require a connected source device.

Audio and microphones

Open-ear speakers are central to Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta Vanguard, and Lucyd Lyte. Vanguard and Ray-Ban Meta are both reported with five microphones. XREAL One Pro uses Bose stereo speakers, while VITURE Beast uses Harman stereo speakers. Even Realities G2 deliberately omits speakers, so alerts and information appear visually rather than audibly.

Open-ear audio preserves awareness of your surroundings but can leak sound in quiet spaces. A private display does not automatically mean private audio; check the speaker design and your environment before using any model in a meeting, library, or public transit.

AI, translation, and dependence on other devices

Ray-Ban Meta’s AI requires a smartphone and internet connection. XREAL One Pro and VITURE Beast require a connected source device for their screen experience. Lucyd Lyte uses a phone-based assistant. Rokid offers ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek support, while Solos offers multi-AI support; exact software behavior and regional availability can change. Even Realities G2 and Dymesty emphasize translation and text-based assistance, but their practical language coverage differs: G2 is reported at 33 languages, while Dymesty is described as supporting more than 100.

Before purchase, confirm which functions work offline, which require an account, which depend on a phone, and which are processed in the cloud. A large language count does not mean every language is available for every mode, and online and offline totals should not be treated as interchangeable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Privacy and workplace fit

Camera-free designs are the clearest choice for offices, classrooms, interviews, and homes where recording could be misunderstood. Even Realities G2 and Dymesty eliminate photo and video capture entirely. Audio-only models such as Lucyd Lyte also avoid a camera while retaining calls and music.

Best Value
XREAL xbx a01+ AR Glasses, 147'' Big-Screen Display for Movies & Gaming | 62g Ultralight, 50°FOV, Bright 1600-nit HDR10, USB-C DP for iPhone, iPad, Android, Steam Deck, ROG & PC
  • YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
  • ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
  • 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
  • LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
  • WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.

Camera-equipped glasses require more care. Tell people when recording is active, follow venue policies, and check local privacy laws before capturing conversations or bystanders. A recording indicator, if present, does not replace consent or a workplace rule. Also remember that AI processing can involve a phone, an account, and cloud services even when the glasses themselves look like ordinary eyewear.

Buying checklist

  1. Choose the primary job. Select capture, private video, heads-up text, or open-ear audio before comparing specifications.
  2. Check device dependence. Confirm whether your phone, laptop, or another source device is required for display, AI, translation, or calls.
  3. Match the camera policy. For camera-sensitive workplaces, choose a camera-free model rather than relying on etiquette alone.
  4. Verify prescriptions and fit. Even Realities G2 supports -12.00 to +12.00 diopters; other models in this comparison do not have a documented prescription range here, so confirm lens options directly.
  5. Compare endurance honestly. Oakley Meta Vanguard’s up-to-nine-hour figure, Lucyd Lyte’s up-to-10-hour figure, Even Realities G2’s roughly two-day estimate, and Dymesty’s claimed 48 hours come from different products and usage assumptions.
  6. Check protection ratings. Oakley Meta Vanguard is reported at IP67, while Ray-Ban Meta is reported at IPX4. Do not infer that a display or audio model has either rating unless its documentation states it.
  7. Confirm regional software. AI assistants, translation languages, firmware features, Amazon stock, and prices can vary by country and change over time.

Which alternative should you buy?

Choose XREAL One Pro or VITURE Beast if the screen matters most

Pick XREAL One Pro for a strong private-screen balance and three-degrees-of-freedom tracking, or VITURE Beast if its 1,250-nit brightness and 1920×1200-per-eye resolution better fit your travel and gaming priorities. Both are screen accessories, not camera glasses.

Choose Even Realities G2 if privacy and readable prompts matter most

G2 is the clearest choice when you want text, teleprompting, translation, and prescription support without a camera or speakers. It cannot record, play media through built-in speakers, or replace a full-color movie display.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Choose Oakley Meta Vanguard if sport capture is the priority

Vanguard combines a 12-MP camera, open-ear audio, IP67 protection, workout integrations, and up to nine hours of battery life. It is the most purpose-built option here for active capture, but its camera is still not a substitute for a dedicated action camera.

Choose Rokid, Solos, Dymesty, or Lucyd if you want to avoid a single camera-and-display formula

Rokid is the most clearly documented choice for ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Microsoft Translator. Solos emphasizes multi-AI access and swappable batteries. Dymesty focuses on camera-free transcription and translation, while Lucyd Lyte keeps the proposition simple: open-ear audio and phone-based assistance.

The decisive question is not which frame has the longest feature list. It is whether your daily problem is seeing a private screen, recording hands-free, reading prompts without a camera, or hearing a phone assistant without earbuds. Once that priority is clear, the alternatives separate cleanly.
