For another conventional sport-earbud option, compare the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2. Fit is personal; the available comparisons do not establish a universal best pair for every ear or workout.
What the JBL Endurance Peak 4 offers
JBL’s official product page lists the Endurance Peak 4 as true wireless sport earbuds with a liquid-silicone ear hook, TwistLock fit, active noise cancellation (ANC), and an IP68 water-and-dust rating. JBL advertises up to 48 hours of battery life; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured runtime. JBL Endurance Peak 4 product page.

JBL describes the hook as “comfortable and adaptable to different sizes.” That is the manufacturer’s ergonomic description, not independent evidence that the fit will suit every wearer. If the hook, rather than a lack of features, is the reason you are shopping, try a different retention style where possible before deciding.

| Premium ear-hook fit and ANC | Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 | RTINGS rates it as a better sport-earbud choice than JBL, particularly when ANC matters, but says it costs more. Check current local pricing. RTINGS comparison. |
| Lower-cost ear hooks with physical controls | Skullcandy Push Active | Its IP55 rating is below JBL’s stated IP68 rating, and RTINGS says it lacks multipoint pairing. RTINGS comparison. |
| Budget stable-fit basics | JLab GO Sport+ | RTINGS calls it a cheaper stable ear-hook option, while judging JBL the stronger, more polished workout earbud for most people. RTINGS comparison. |
| Ears left unobstructed | Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 | It uses a different listening design from sealed in-ear earbuds, so it is not a like-for-like replacement. TechRadar workout-headphone guide. |
| Another fitness-focused earbud with ANC | Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 | Tom’s Guide’s May 18, 2025 comparison reports stronger ANC for Jabra than for Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 in that review; this is an attributed review judgment, not a universal result. Tom’s Guide comparison. |
Premium ear hooks: Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
If you like the stability of an ear hook but want to prioritize ANC, the Powerbeats Pro 2 is the most direct premium alternative here. RTINGS’ comparison favors the Beats over the Endurance Peak 4 as sport earbuds, especially for noise cancellation, while noting the higher price. That makes them a candidate for noisy indoor gyms, not an automatic upgrade for every budget or ear shape.
#1 Best Overall
- BUILT FOR ATHLETES WHO DON'T STOP: After 1,500 hours of testing across athletes of every ear shape and intensity level, Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers a secure-fit earhook that stays locked on — whether you're in a sprint, a heavy lift, or a full class.
- TUNE OUT THE GYM. TUNE INTO YOUR WORKOUT: Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) designed specifically for training environments — filters the noise floor so you can lock on, with Transparency mode to let in what matters when it matters.
- YOUR HEART RATE, RIGHT FROM YOUR EARS: Built-in sensors pulse 100+ times per second for real-time heart rate tracking without a chest strap or watch. Train smarter and keep your hands free. IPX4 rated for sweat and water resistance.
- 45 HOURS. ENOUGH FOR THE WHOLE WEEK: Powered by the Apple H2 chip, Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers up to 45 hours of total listening time with the charging case — the first wireless Qi-charging case from Beats. Running low? Fast Fuel means a 5-minute charge gives you 1.5 hours of playback.
- WORKS SEAMLESSLY WITH APPLE AND ANDROID: One-touch pairing, automatic device switching, and hands-free Siri on Apple. Full feature access including Heart Rate Monitoring, customizable controls, and battery widgets on Android via the Beats app for Android.
Compare current prices in your region before buying: the available comparison establishes that Beats is more expensive than JBL, but does not provide a dependable live price.
Cheaper hook-style choices: Skullcandy and JLab
Skullcandy Push Active
RTINGS describes Push Active as a cheaper workout alternative with physical buttons and voice controls. Those controls can be useful when adjusting playback mid-session, but it lacks multipoint pairing, so do not choose it if switching between two connected devices is important. RTINGS gives it an IP55 rating, compared with JBL’s IP68; the ratings are not equivalent, and the higher JBL rating is the one to prefer if that stated ingress protection is a deciding factor. The ratings alone do not establish how either pair will fare in a particular workout or exposure.

- 80H Playtime with Dual LED Display Charging Case: Enjoy uninterrupted music with an ultra-long 80-hour battery life powered by the portable charging case. The digital display on the left clearly shows the remaining case power, while the right LED indicators display the earbuds’ charging status. - Immersive Stereo Sound & Clear Calls with Dual Mics: Built with advanced 10mm dynamic drivers and dual microphones, these wireless earbuds deliver crisp treble, rich bass, and stunning clarity across your music, movies, and games. The microphones are designed to capture your voice precisely, reducing surrounding noise and ensuring your conversations remain clear whether you’re outdoors, in transit, or on video calls, giving you a consistently enjoyable listening and communication experience.
- Seamless Bluetooth Connectivity & Dual Button Controls: Featuring advanced Bluetooth technology, earbuds ensure quicker pairing, stable connections, and lower latency across multiple devices. Once removed from the case, they reconnect automatically to your last paired device for seamless use. With separate main and volume buttons, you gain direct and intuitive control over music, calls, and adjustments—avoiding the frustration of complicated touch gestures or accidental taps during workouts.
- All-Day Fit & Wide Device Compatibility: Designed with adjustable ear hooks that follow ergonomic principles, these bluetooth earbuds adapt naturally to different ear shapes and sizes, ensuring they stay firmly in place during running, cycling, or intense workouts. The secure fit minimizes slippage and maximizes comfort, while universal Bluetooth compatibility allows these ear buds to seamlessly pair with smartphones, tablets, and laptops, providing a smooth audio experience across all devices.
- Designed for Active Lifestyles & Portability: Compact charging case easily fits into your pocket or bag for travel and daily carry, reducing the risk of losing your earbuds. With a sweat-resistant and dust-resistant build, they are prepared to support your workouts, outdoor runs, or busy commutes without slowing you down. Durable, secure, and convenient, these bluetooth headphones are an excellent companion for people who need reliable audio that keeps pace with their active routine.
JLab GO Sport+
Consider GO Sport+ when the goal is a lower-cost, stable ear-hook fit and basic workout use. RTINGS describes it as a cheaper option that covers the basics, but says JBL is the more polished workout earbud for most people. It is therefore a budget candidate, not the performance leader in this comparison. No specific price is established here, so check current regional listings.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Open-ear awareness: Shokz OpenRun Pro 2
The OpenRun Pro 2 is for a different priority: keeping the ears free rather than sealing them with conventional in-ear buds. TechRadar describes its sound system as bone conduction combined with air-conduction speakers aimed at the ears. That design distinction may appeal if you want to remain more aware of your surroundings, but it is not equivalent to an in-ear pair with ANC. The sources do not identify one listening style as right for every gym, so weigh your environment and preference.

Another sport-bud option: Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2
Jabra is worth comparing if you want a fitness-oriented earbud rather than specifically an ear hook or open-ear design. Tom’s Guide’s May 18, 2025 comparison discusses the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Powerbeats Pro 2 as fitness-focused models with ANC and dual-device connectivity, and reports stronger ANC for Jabra in its review. Treat that as the review’s comparison, not a guarantee that Jabra will outperform Beats in every setting or for every listener.

How to make the choice
- Start with retention: choose between an ear hook, another in-ear retention approach, or an open-ear design. A comparison cannot predict which shape will stay comfortable and secure in your ears.
- Match noise control to the setting: ANC may be useful in a noisy indoor gym; open-ear listening leaves the ears unobstructed. Neither priority is universally preferable.
- Check protection ratings: JBL’s product page states IP68 and RTINGS lists IP55 for Push Active. Do not treat those ratings as interchangeable.
- Check controls and connections: Push Active has physical buttons and voice controls, but lacks multipoint according to RTINGS. Decide whether simple on-bud controls or switching between devices matters more.
- Compare live local prices: the sources characterize Beats as more expensive than JBL and Skullcandy and JLab as cheaper alternatives, but do not establish current prices.
