For a tracker outside Google’s ecosystem, consider Garmin vívosmart 5; for built-in GPS in a watch-style design, consider Amazfit Active 2. Fitbit Air itself is a screenless band whose setup and data depend on the Google Health phone app, so the right replacement depends on what you want to change—not on assuming these devices track identically.
What to consider before choosing an alternative
Fitbit Air is designed for day-and-night wear without a display. Google lists 24/7 heart rate, heart-rhythm monitoring with AFib alerts, estimated SpO2, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and duration, automatic activity detection, and up to one week of battery life. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent accuracy findings. Google’s Fitbit Air announcement has the product feature list.

Air pairs through the Google Health app, and a Google account is required. Google’s setup page lists Android 11 or newer and iOS 16.4 or newer as minimum phone requirements. It also says to wear Air on top of the wrist with the sensor continuously touching the skin. Feature availability varies by region, and some advanced features—including irregular-rhythm notifications and SpO2 estimates—may require Google Health Premium. Check the Google Health setup and compatibility guidance for your location and phone.

Compare replacements on five points: whether you want a screen, which app ecosystem you prefer, what health and sleep metrics matter, whether GPS is built into the wearable or depends on your phone, and whether the core experience needs a subscription. The available sources do not establish a controlled accuracy comparison among these devices.

Choose Inspire 3 if you want glanceable information and familiar Fitbit-style daily tracking, including steps, active minutes, and sleep insights. Google’s comparison page states battery life of over one week. TechRadar lists no onboard GPS, so route tracking depends on a connected phone. Inspire 3 remains in Google’s app ecosystem, rather than offering a break from it. See Google’s Fitbit comparison and TechRadar’s 2026 budget-tracker guide.
Garmin vívosmart 5: an option outside Google’s ecosystem
Consider vívosmart 5 if you want a lightweight band in Garmin’s ecosystem and value recovery-oriented information such as Body Battery, highlighted by TechRadar. Check availability and features before buying
Prices and stock vary by market, and the cited material does not establish current local prices for every model. Google’s 2026 announcement listed Fitbit Air at $99 for the standard model and $129 for the Special Edition; those are announcement prices, not verified current offers. Confirm current price and availability in your region, phone compatibility, GPS behavior, regional health-feature support, and any subscription requirements on the relevant product pages before purchase. A feature list or battery claim is not proof that one tracker is more accurate than another.
