There is no single replacement for every Fandom wiki. For a game, start with a dedicated community wiki for structured reference, GameFAQs for walkthrough-style help, or Steam Community Guides for player tips. For television, IMDb can help with episode lists; a dedicated show wiki may suit broader lore. Match the source to your question, then check that it covers the right title and version and shows signs of recent maintenance.
Choose a source by the question you need answered
| What you need | Where to start | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Game mechanics, items, quests, or other structured reference | A dedicated community game wiki; use wiki.gg’s directory to find candidates | Exact game and version, recent updates, and whether the individual wiki is maintained |
| A beginning-to-end walkthrough or FAQ | GameFAQs | Guide date, platform or version, and whether it addresses your particular obstacle |
| A focused tactic or player explanation | Steam Community Guides, if the game is on Steam | Author, ratings, publication or update date, and game version |
| TV episode order or episode details | An IMDb episode list | Correct series, season coverage, and episode metadata |
| Offline or illustrated game reference | A printed strategy guide, if one exists for the game | Game, edition, and platform; availability varies |
These are different kinds of resources, not a tested ranking. A page that is excellent for a quest walkthrough may be a poor place to check a show’s episode order, and a database episode list is not a full community wiki.

For game reference pages, find a dedicated wiki
A game-specific wiki is a natural first stop for connected reference topics such as items, mechanics, quests, and characters. The wiki.gg list of wikis is organized by genre and platform, making it a discovery aid when you do not know where a project is hosted. wiki.gg notes that the directory is community-maintained and that its accuracy is not guaranteed by its staff, so verify the individual wiki rather than treating inclusion as an endorsement.

For walkthroughs and FAQs, try an archive
GameFAQs is a distinct option for FAQ- and walkthrough-style material. Treat it as a guide archive to search, not as a guarantee that a current, complete guide exists for every game or platform. Check the guide’s date and scope before following instructions: a walkthrough for a different version can leave out changed routes, mechanics, or content.

For specific tactics, browse Steam Community Guides
Steam’s Community Guides are created by players, and Steam provides an interface to browse and rate guides or create and share tips. That format can be useful when you want a focused explanation rather than a whole-game reference, provided the game is available on Steam. Because authors and update schedules vary, use the guide’s author, ratings, date, and stated game version to judge whether it fits your situation.
For television episodes, use an episode database
IMDb’s episode-list format can answer a narrow question such as which episodes belong to a series or season. Check that you have the right series and that the season and episode metadata match what you are looking for. An episode database is not automatically a substitute for a show wiki’s broader lore, character histories, or collaborative analysis.
For show lore, look for a maintained franchise wiki
A dedicated show wiki may be a better format for connected lore and detailed analysis than an episode list, but availability and upkeep depend on the franchise. Search for the particular show and inspect the project itself: confirm it covers the right continuity, has recent contributions, and distinguishes sourced information from speculation. No single named alternative can be recommended for every TV franchise.

Printed video game guides can include walkthroughs, maps, and game art, making them a different option if you prefer an offline or illustrated reference. They are specific to a game and edition, and current stock varies; confirm the exact title, platform, and edition before relying on one. A game strategy book is not a replacement for an online episode guide or a community wiki that changes over time.

Check what “official” means before relying on a wiki
Fandom says its communities are publicly viewable, open to public editing, indexed by search engines, and subject to a free content license in its Community Creation and Content Policy. Those platform-wide characteristics do not establish that a particular wiki is endorsed by a game publisher or TV rights holder.
Fandom describes a free official wiki partnership program for developers, publishers, studios, and production companies. That establishes that a partnership program exists, not that any particular wiki has official status. If endorsement matters, look for confirmation from the project itself or the rights holder rather than inferring it from a wiki’s name, appearance, or search ranking.
