For gaming PC and component deals, compare Micro Center, Newegg, Amazon and B&H Photo Video against the exact model you want—not just the retailer’s headline price. Check who sells the item, the delivered cost, whether local pickup is available, and the current return terms. Micro Center is especially useful if you live near a store; Newegg offers a large computer-focused assortment but mixes its own inventory with third-party marketplace listings.
Which retailers are worth comparing?
| Retailer | What it offers for this search | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Micro Center | Its catalog includes DIY components and ready-to-go gaming desktops, including PowerSpec systems. Its physical stores can make local pickup and in-store promotions relevant. | Nearby store, exact configuration, stock, promotion dates and any in-store restrictions. |
| Newegg | A computer-component-focused online destination with both direct sales and third-party marketplace listings. | Whether Newegg or a marketplace seller is the seller, plus fulfillment, return terms and delivered price. |
| Amazon | Best Buy lists Amazon among its qualified price-match competitors. | Check the exact listing and seller; the competitor listing’s presence does not establish that every marketplace offer qualifies for a price match. |
| B&H Photo Video | Best Buy lists B&H among its qualified price-match competitors. | Confirm the exact model, seller terms and whether the offer meets Best Buy’s current price-match conditions. |
Best Buy can still serve as a useful benchmark. Its price-match page names Amazon, B&H Photo Video, Micro Center and Newegg as qualified competitors, but says the guarantee excludes products shipped from and sold by third-party marketplace sellers. Eligibility is conditional, so check the current policy and the specific listing rather than assuming a competitor price will be matched.

Why the seller matters as much as the price
On Newegg, a product page may represent either a direct sale or a marketplace offer. Newegg’s 2024 annual report said that as of December 31, 2024, its platforms contained approximately 4.4 million SKUs: over 73,500 direct-sales SKUs and approximately 4.3 million marketplace SKUs, supplied by over 5,200 third-party marketplace sellers. These are historical company-reported figures, not a live inventory count.

Newegg described itself as particularly strong in components and said it was gaining traction with suppliers in categories including desktop PCs and laptops. Those company statements provide context for its assortment; they do not establish that a given listing is the best deal or has the same terms as a direct sale.

Policies and offer details can vary by listing and change over time; the cited sources do not establish a complete, current policy comparison across these retailers.
Micro Center deals depend on location and timing

One dated example illustrates why promotion details matter: Micro Center’s Tech Days event listed the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor at $399.99 and a PowerSpec G538 gaming desktop at $1,399.99 for October 6–7, 2026. The offers were labeled in-store only; some were limited to one per customer and were subject to expiration or stock limits. That event has ended, so those prices should not be treated as currently available. Check the live listing and your local store for any new offer.

A practical way to compare a PC or component
- Choose an exact model. For a component, use its full model name or SKU. For a gaming desktop, compare the complete configuration—including processor, graphics card, memory and storage—rather than relying on the product name alone.
- Compare the actual seller. On marketplace sites, identify whether the retailer itself or a third party is selling the item. Do not treat a marketplace offer as equivalent to a direct sale without checking its terms.
- Calculate the delivered price. Include shipping and any applicable pickup constraints. A store-only promotion is useful only if you can reach a participating location and the item is in stock.
- Read the current terms. Check the listing-specific return conditions and how warranty service is handled. Verify any promotion’s dates, quantity limits and stock qualifications.
- Use Best Buy’s price-match page as a cross-check. Its named competitors can help identify where to compare, but a match is not automatic—especially for third-party marketplace listings.
Is there one retailer that is always cheapest?
No. The available evidence does not establish a universal lowest-price retailer or a current cross-store price ranking. Offers are snapshots, and the seller, local availability, shipping, promotion dates and return terms can change the value of an apparent discount. Compare the same model and configuration under the terms you would actually buy.
