The best alternative depends on what you mean by “built-in sensors.” If you want sunrise and bedtime routines without sleep tracking, Hatch Restore 3 is the closest match. If you want a two-stage sound alarm with included audio and no subscription, choose Loftie Clock. If you actually want measurements of bedroom temperature, noise, light, and humidity, the Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack is the relevant option—but it is not sensor-free. For a simple light-only wake-up, the Philips SmartSleep HF3520 is a possible candidate, although its current model details and availability need verification.
Those choices solve different problems. A sunrise routine is not sleep tracking, and an environmental monitor is not the same thing as either. Use the guide below to identify the feature you want to remove before choosing a replacement.

What “built-in sensors” can mean
Smart alarm clocks combine several functions that are often treated as one. Separating them prevents an expensive mismatch.

Sleep-tracking sensors
A sleep-tracking clock uses sensing hardware to estimate whether you are asleep, awake, moving or breathing. Hatch describes the sensor in its Sleep Clock as a low-power motion sensor that sends radio pulses and reads chest movement associated with breathing. Hatch says the system tracks breathing rate, movement or restlessness, and presence.

- KEEP YOUR HOME COMFORTABLE - Control compatible smart home devices. Just ask Alexa to turn on lights or touch the screen to dim. Create routines that use motion detection to turn down the thermostat as you head out or open the blinds when you walk into a room.
Hatch also states that the Sleep Clock’s sensor technology was independently validated at 97% accuracy for detecting sleep, benchmarked against polysomnography. That is a manufacturer-reported statistic, not a medical-grade accuracy guarantee or an independent assessment here. It should not be interpreted as a diagnosis or as proof that the clock measures sleep stages clinically.
Room-environment sensors
Some clocks measure conditions around the bed rather than your body. Philips says its Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack measures bedroom temperature, noise, light and humidity, then surfaces that information in the SleepMapper app.
Light and proximity hardware
A device can also contain light sensors, buttons, motion detection or other hardware used for automation without offering a sleep report. Therefore, “no built-in sensors” can mean either “do not collect sleep data” or “use a device with no sensing hardware at all.” Those are different buying requirements.
Quick comparison
| Reader priority | Best direction | What it provides | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunrise and bedtime routines without the Sleep Clock’s listed sleep-tracking feature | Hatch Restore 3 | Sunrise alarms, bedtime routines, audio and phone-free controls | Confirm current Hatch+ access and price; omission of sleep tracking does not prove the absence of every sensor |
| Two-stage sound alarm and included audio | Loftie Clock | Two-phase alarm, more than 100 included audio tracks, nightlight and Bed Signal wind-down cue | It is not a sunrise alarm; Wi-Fi is needed for initial setup and updates |
| Bedroom measurements plus a wake light | Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack | Temperature, noise, light and humidity sensing; configurable alarms, sunrise and sunset settings, breathing rhythms, PowerWake and FM radio | It has built-in sensors, and the cited US leaflet is dated July 22, 2020; current availability and app support are uncertain |
| A dedicated wake-up light | Philips SmartSleep HF3520, subject to verification | Identified in a search-result comparison as a sunrise-light model | Current product specifications and regional availability were not established |
| Sleep data without a sensor in the clock | Separate contactless tracker, such as an under-mattress category | Moves sensing to another device while leaving the bedside clock simpler | You still use sensors, change the form factor and may add another app or power requirement |
Choose the requirement you actually need
You want sunrise light but do not want sleep tracking
Start with Hatch Restore 3. Hatch’s own comparison lists sunrise alarms, bedtime routines, audio options and phone-free controls for both the Sleep Clock and Restore 3. The same comparison lists sleep tracking and personalized tracking insights only for the Sleep Clock.
This makes Restore 3 the most direct substitute when the objection is personal sleep data rather than every piece of electronics inside the clock. Do not describe it as a completely sensorless product unless Hatch’s current specification explicitly says that; the documented distinction is that the Sleep Clock’s listed sleep-tracking feature is not listed for Restore 3.
You want a gentler wake-up without an app-centered sleep system
Loftie Clock is a better fit when sound, routines and a staged alarm matter more than sunrise simulation. Its two-phase alarm lets a quieter first signal precede a stronger wake-up sound. It also includes a nightlight and a wind-down Bed Signal.

Loftie says the clock includes more than 100 audio tracks and does not require a subscription. Initial setup and updates require Wi-Fi, but the clock can be switched to No Wi-Fi Mode afterward. This is useful for a phone-free bedroom, provided you complete setup before disconnecting it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsYou want room data, not sleep estimates
The Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack is the relevant direction if the purpose of sensing is to understand the bedroom itself. Philips’s US presales leaflet says AmbiTrack measures temperature, noise, light and humidity, with results shown in the SleepMapper app.
That directly conflicts with a strict no-sensor requirement. It is a choice for someone who wants environmental information and a wake light, not an alternative for someone avoiding sensors altogether.
You want the simplest possible light alarm
A dedicated wake-up light removes the need for sleep estimates and room analytics. The Philips SmartSleep HF3520 appeared in a search-result comparison as a sunrise-light model, but an up-to-date primary product page for that exact model was not established. Treat it as a model to verify, not a settled recommendation.
Hatch Restore 3: sunrise routines without the Sleep Clock’s listed tracking
What it does
- Sunrise alarm routines.
- Bedtime routines.
- Audio options.
- Controls designed to work without keeping a phone beside the bed.
Hatch’s comparison lists these functions for both Restore 3 and Sleep Clock. It lists sleep tracking and personalized tracking insights only for Sleep Clock, which is the key distinction for this guide.
What it costs and what to verify
When the comparison was accessed in 2026, Hatch showed Restore 3 at $169.99 and Sleep Clock at $249.99. These are volatile displayed prices, not a permanent price guarantee. Hatch also says the clocks include access to more than 2,500 audio options with Hatch+. Confirm the current subscription terms, included library and whether the routines you want are available without an ongoing membership before buying.

Best setup for a no-phone bedroom
- Place the clock where the display and light face you without shining directly into your eyes.
- Create the bedtime routine and sunrise schedule in the companion setup process while your phone is available.
- Choose the light intensity and audio behavior that will not wake a partner unnecessarily.
- Test the complete routine on a nonessential morning before relying on it for work or travel.
- Review which controls remain available on the clock itself so you are not dependent on the phone at night.
Who should skip it
Skip Restore 3 if your central requirement is absolutely no sensing hardware, or if you want a sound-only clock with no sunrise simulation. The documented evidence supports the absence of the Sleep Clock’s listed sleep-tracking feature, not a blanket claim that every sensor has been removed.
Loftie Clock: a sound-first alternative
What makes it different
Loftie is designed around a two-phase sound alarm rather than a simulated sunrise. The first phase can act as a gentler prompt, with the second phase providing the definitive wake-up sound. It also offers a nightlight, a wind-down Bed Signal and more than 100 included audio tracks.
Loftie’s FAQ states plainly that the clock is not a sunrise alarm. Its light can turn on with alarms, but that is different from gradually increasing light to imitate dawn. Buy it for staged sound, not for a light-based wake-up.

Loftie says there is no subscription requirement. Wi-Fi is required for initial setup and updates; after setup, No Wi-Fi Mode can be enabled. Plan to connect it near the router during installation, apply updates, configure the alarm and then test No Wi-Fi Mode before placing it in a bedroom where you want minimal connectivity.
Setup checklist
- Connect the clock to Wi-Fi during first-run setup.
- Install any available firmware updates before configuring your final routine.
- Set the first and second alarm phases, choosing different volumes or sounds if that helps you respond gradually.
- Configure the nightlight and Bed Signal so they support, rather than interrupt, your bedtime routine.
- Enable No Wi-Fi Mode and test an alarm with the network disconnected.
Trade-offs
- Advantage: included audio and no subscription reduce recurring costs.
- Advantage: staged sound can replace a harsh single alarm.
- Limitation: no sunrise simulation.
- Limitation: setup and updates still require Wi-Fi.
Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack: when sensing is the point
Documented features
The US presales leaflet describes four environmental measurements: bedroom temperature, noise, light and humidity. It says the SleepMapper app displays the information. The same leaflet describes weekday and weekend alarms, configurable sunrise and sunset settings, seven breathing rhythms, PowerWake and local FM radio.
Why it is not a no-sensor alternative
AmbiTrack is a built-in sensor system. If you are avoiding sleep tracking but still want room conditions, this may fit. If you are avoiding data collection, radio sensing or any environmental monitoring, it does not.

A dedicated wake light is the cleanest category when your only goal is a gradual visual wake-up. It does not need to estimate sleep or measure the room to perform that basic task. You should still check whether a model has ambient-light adaptation, an app, Wi-Fi or other sensing if “no sensors” is a strict requirement.
The Philips SmartSleep HF3520 was identified in a comparison as a sunrise-light model, but the exact current product page and regional availability were not obtained. Do not transfer AmbiTrack’s temperature, noise, light or humidity claims to the HF3520; the two product references are different.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Using a separate sleep tracker instead of a sensor-equipped clock
If you want sleep information but do not want a sensor built into the bedside alarm, consider separating the jobs. A contactless tracker category, including under-mattress products, can collect sleep-related data while a conventional alarm clock handles wake-up.
This does not eliminate sensing. It changes where the sensing occurs and may add a second app, a power cable, installation under the mattress and another privacy decision. The benefit is modularity: you can replace the alarm without replacing your sleep-data system, or disable tracking while retaining the clock.

How to decide in five minutes
- Write down what you are avoiding. Choose one or more: sleep tracking, room sensing, phone dependence, Wi-Fi, subscriptions, or harsh alarms.
- Choose the wake mechanism. Select sunrise light, staged sound, a conventional tone or a combination.
- Decide whether data is necessary. If you only need a wake-up, do not pay for sleep reports or environmental dashboards.
- Check connectivity. Confirm whether setup, daily operation, updates or alarm changes require Wi-Fi or a phone.
- Verify current price and regional support. Product pages, subscriptions, app compatibility and availability can change.
Common buying mistakes
Confusing a sunrise alarm with sleep tracking
A light that brightens before the alarm is a wake routine. It does not, by itself, show that the clock measures your sleep. Look for an explicit sleep-tracking feature and a description of the sensing method.
Best Value
- Large Display with Full Range Dimmer: 5 inches Large LCD screen with nice eye care number display. Time, date and temperature display. Almost full range brightness settable (6 levels + auto dim ), you can easily change to have the view bright or dim it to extremely low.
- Auto Set Time: The alarm clock will set itself to right time, date and temperature immediately once plugged in. The long lasting button cell backup battery (installed ) will holds all settings and ensure the time always be accurate in case of main power interrupted. What you need to do is set your time zone and wake up time. Simple as that. Even miss the right time, you are still able to set it manually.
- Auto DST and selectable time zone: Automatically adjusts to Daylight Savings Time while set the DST on. Seven USA time zone (EST/ CST/ MST/ PST/AST/HAT/AKT) and one newfoundland time zone NST selectable for your location.
- Beeping alarm with snooze: A beeping alarm sound will wake you up naturaly and the alarm volume is not adjustable. Only single alarm available. Additional snooze to counter oversleeping, simply press the snooze button once and go back to sleep. 8 minutes later the alarm will ring again.
- Plug in clock with single USB charging port: the digital clock come with two usb ports, one is to power the clock (1.5 meter USB cable is included), ther other USB charging port can be used to charge cellphone and other electronic device. 3 x AAA batteries( not included) as backup, which will store the setting and keep the time works in case of main power outage.
Assuming “no subscription” means “no app”
Loftie’s no-subscription model still requires Wi-Fi for initial setup and updates. Check one-time setup requirements separately from recurring fees.
Assuming a nightlight is a sunrise simulator
Loftie’s light may operate with alarms, but Loftie says the clock is not a sunrise alarm. A static or alarm-triggered light is not equivalent to a gradual dawn sequence.
Buying an old model on an unverified listing
Older wake-light names can remain in search results after regional sales end. For the HF3520 and the AmbiTrack product, confirm the exact model, country support and app operation before purchase.

Treating manufacturer accuracy claims as medical evidence
Hatch’s 97% figure is a manufacturer-reported validation statistic benchmarked against polysomnography. It is not a clinical diagnosis, and it should not be used to infer that a clock can identify a medical sleep disorder.
Recommendation by use case
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Sunrise and bedtime routines while avoiding the Sleep Clock’s listed sleep tracking | Hatch Restore 3 | It retains the documented routines and phone-free controls while Hatch’s comparison reserves sleep tracking and personalized insights for Sleep Clock |
| A staged, sound-centered alarm with included content | Loftie Clock | Two-phase alarm, more than 100 audio tracks, nightlight and no subscription |
| Room-condition measurements | Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack | It measures temperature, noise, light and humidity, but therefore does not meet a strict no-sensor brief |
| Only a gradual visual wake-up | A verified dedicated wake light | Fewer functions mean less data and setup, but verify whether the specific model contains any automatic sensing |
| Sleep information separate from the clock | A separate contactless tracker category | Keeps the bedside alarm modular, at the cost of another device and data system |
Bottom line
For most readers asking for an alternative to a sensor-heavy smart alarm, Hatch Restore 3 is the closest fit when the real objection is sleep tracking and the desired replacement is still a sunrise-and-bedtime routine. Choose Loftie Clock when you prefer staged sound, included audio and fewer ongoing fees, and accept that it is not a sunrise alarm. Choose Philips Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light with AmbiTrack only when measuring the bedroom is useful; its built-in sensors make it unsuitable as a strict sensor-free replacement. Treat the Philips SmartSleep HF3520 as a model requiring current verification rather than a confirmed recommendation.
