First, choose the progression track you want to advance
ACE COMBAT 8 has separate campaign and online progression. In Campaign Mode, missions earn MRP, which you spend to unlock aircraft in the Aircraft Tree and upgrade aircraft with parts. ACE COMBAT ONLINE has its own progression and save data; campaign aircraft do not automatically carry over. Online missions award ACE PASS XP.

For campaign progress, fly the aircraft that suits the mission
Bandai Namco advises choosing an aircraft with the mission objectives and your playstyle in mind. That is the practical way to earn campaign MRP: use a plane you can handle consistently and that suits the targets or role the mission demands. The official guidance does not identify a particular fighter, attacker, multirole, or electronic-warfare aircraft as a faster route to skin unlocks.
Choose difficulty for repeatable results, not just the biggest multiplier
PowerPyx’s launch-period trophy guide reports MRP for destroyed targets and difficulty multipliers ranging from x0.8 on Casual to x1.5 on Ace. These are third-party guide figures, not official publisher specifications. The useful takeaway is conditional: replay missions at the highest difficulty where you can still finish reliably and destroy worthwhile targets. A higher multiplier does not help if the difficulty causes failed or incomplete runs.

Keep MRP goals separate from skin goals
PowerPyx reports 25,000,000 MRP for its full Aircraft Tree trophy objective and estimates 150 hours or more for platinum completion. Those are guide figures for campaign completion goals, not official statistics and not requirements or time estimates for unlocking skins.
For online skins, earn ACE PASS XP in online missions
Bandai Namco’s Season One announcement lists 12 aircraft skins on the Free Ace Pass and 13 additional aircraft skins on the Premium track. Those counts describe that announced season, not a permanent reward total. Premium is optional. Check the current in-game pass for its active rewards before planning around specific cosmetics.

The publisher says, “Each Ace Pass season will last two months.” Season length and reward availability make pass details time-sensitive. The Season One announcement also lists the ADFX-02 Morgan-PIXY as a playable aircraft reward on the Premium track; that is an aircraft reward, not a skin.

Bandai Namco’s official ACE COMBAT Online page says aircraft gain levels by surviving sorties, improving stats and unlocking abilities. It separately describes customization for skins, emblems, and weathering, but does not say that leveling an aircraft unlocks skins. Do not confuse aircraft progression with Ace Pass cosmetic rewards.

Edition skins are bonuses, not a faster grind
Bandai Namco Europe says the Deluxe cosmetic set includes F-4E “MOBIUS SQUADRON” and F/A-18C “TEAM ZVEZDA” skins. The skins can be used online, while campaign use becomes available after campaign completion, according to its edition details. These are optional edition bonuses; the source does not present them as a method to accelerate unlocking other skins.

- For campaign MRP: select an aircraft suited to the objective and your skill, then prioritize reliable mission clears and target destruction.
- For online cosmetics: play ACE COMBAT ONLINE missions to earn ACE PASS XP; campaign aircraft progression is separate.
- For a specific skin: check whether it is an online Ace Pass reward, a campaign cosmetic, or an edition bonus before grinding.
- For aircraft leveling: expect improved stats and abilities as described by Bandai Namco, not a confirmed skin unlock.
No published evidence here compares aircraft by skin-unlock speed, ACE PASS XP per sortie, or best repeat mission. A ranked “fastest skin farming plane” recommendation would therefore be speculation.
