Which AI music generator fits your project?
AI music tools do not all aim at the same result. Start with the output you need, then check whether the service lets you shape and export it the way your project requires.

| Tool | Beginner fit | What the cited source says | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suno | Prompt-to-song experiments, vocal demos, and quick complete tracks | Suno’s pricing page lists free and paid plans; paid plans include downloads, additional editing or stem features, and commercial-use rights. | The Free plan has no monthly song downloads or commercial rights. Plan terms and models can change. |
| AIVA | Cinematic composition, style exploration, and MIDI-based editing | AIVA says it supports more than 250 styles, editing, and audio or MIDI influence uploads. | Free, Standard, and Pro have different attribution, monetization, download, and copyright terms. |
| Stable Audio 3.0 | Generating sound effects or musical compositions | Stability AI says the model family can generate full tracks up to six minutes and uses fully licensed data. | Stability AI describes legal indemnification specifically under its Enterprise license; that protection should not be assumed for ordinary users. |
| SOUNDRAW | Instrumental background music for creator content | A SOUNDRAW article published in August 2026 describes instrumental output and lists plan starting prices. | The source is vendor-authored. Check current plans and license scope; its description is not of a full lyric-led song service. |
| Udio | Iterative song shaping and style exploration | A May 2026 secondary roundup describes extensions, remixes, edits, and control over lyrics and music. | The Associated Press later reported licensing developments and user download restrictions following a deal. Verify current export and sharing rules before relying on it for a downloadable project. |
| ElevenLabs Music, Beatoven.ai, and Mubert | Commercial or API music workflows, background soundtracks, or continuous generated audio | A May 2026 roundup identifies these as distinct use cases. | Those product details were not independently confirmed against each vendor’s official pages here; do not assume particular prices or blanket usage rights. |
What do the listed plans cost and allow?
The figures below are the vendors’ displayed terms when their pages were checked on October 4, 2026. Billing basis, taxes, location, and later product changes can affect the price or what a plan permits.

Other services
Stability AI’s Stable Audio page describes Stable Audio 3.0’s audio generation and Enterprise indemnification, but the cited page does not establish consumer subscription pricing. SOUNDRAW’s August 2026 vendor article lists Creator plans from $16.99/month, Artist plans from $29.99/month, and an API Starter plan from $29.99/month; these are vendor-published figures to verify against current terms before subscribing.

How to choose as a beginner
- Choose the output. Decide whether you need a vocal song, instrumental background track, sound effect, or cinematic cue. A tool suited to creator background music may not be the right fit for a lyric-led song.
- Decide how much control you need. If you want to edit lyrics, extend or replace sections, upload an audio or MIDI influence, or work with MIDI, confirm that the specific service and plan support it.
- Check the free tier’s actual limits. Look beyond the word “free”: daily or monthly generation limits, queues, downloads, attribution, and monetization permissions can determine whether you can finish and use a project.
- Match export options to your workflow. Confirm whether you can download audio or stems in a format you can use. This matters especially if you need to move the result into another editor or deliver a file to someone else.
- Read the license for your distribution plan. Check the service, subscription tier, attribution rules, and the platform where you intend to publish. Do not treat a general “commercial use” label as a guarantee of copyright ownership or freedom from legal disputes.
Can you make a song for free?
Yes, some services list free access, but free access may not include every step from generation to publication. Suno lists 50 credits per day on Free, but that plan has no monthly song downloads and no commercial rights. AIVA’s Free plan allows three monthly downloads of tracks up to three minutes, with MP3 and MIDI formats, but requires credit and does not permit monetization. Compare those restrictions with your goal before building a project around a free tier.
Can you use AI-generated music in a YouTube video?
Possibly, but the answer depends on the service, plan, track, and intended use. AIVA describes Standard as allowing limited monetization on YouTube, while its Free plan does not permit monetization. Suno says its paid plans include commercial-use rights and its Free plan does not. Those vendor terms do not, by themselves, settle copyright ownership or eliminate legal risk. Read the current license and platform rules that apply to your specific upload.

What the rights language does—and does not—mean
A subscription’s usage permission is one question; copyright status and potential disputes are separate questions. A vendor’s commercial-use wording describes its product terms, not a universal guarantee that a generated work qualifies for copyright protection or that every use is legally risk-free.
In February 2026, the Associated Press reported that Sony Music, Universal Music, and Warner Records sued Suno and Udio in 2024, alleging copyright infringement. AP reported that Suno later settled with Warner and Udio signed licensing agreements with Warner, Universal, and Merlin; Sony had not settled with either, and litigation remained in federal courts at the time of that report. AP also reported download restrictions for Udio users following a deal. This is a dated account of developments, not a conclusion about the current status of any case or the legality of a particular track. See the Associated Press for its reporting.
