Google’s “Call for me” feature can make certain calls on a user’s behalf, but it has strict eligibility requirements and a gradual rollout. On iPhone, Siri offers integrated tasks, follow-up context, and information surfaced during calls—but Apple’s cited documentation does not establish that Siri autonomously calls businesses for you.
Which assistant should you choose?
Choose based on your phone and what you mean by “making calls.” Gemini on Android supports both ordinary calling through the Phone app and a narrower agentic feature that can handle certain routine business calls. Siri is the natural iPhone option for conversational requests and call-time context, but the documented call assistance is not the same as having Siri place a business call on your behalf.

There is no reliable comparative success-rate evidence in the consulted vendor materials, so this is a capability-based guide rather than a ranking of which assistant is smarter or more dependable.
What Gemini can do with phone calls
Ordinary calls through Android’s Phone app
The Gemini mobile app can use Android’s calling app to call contacts, businesses, and phone numbers. Google lists Android, an active mobile plan, the Gemini app, synced contact information, and permission for the Google app to use the Phone app among the prerequisites. This option is not available in Gemini on the web or in Google Messages. Google also says not to use it to contact emergency services; for an emergency, use the device’s calling app directly. Agentic business calls with “Call for me”
Google describes “Call for me” as a way to delegate certain routine calls to businesses. Its examples include asking about opening hours, product availability, or service quotes; booking, confirming, or managing appointments and reservations; navigating phone menus; and waiting on hold. A prompt could be: “Call the dry cleaner on Main Street and ask how much they charge to hem pants.”
Google’s currently published eligibility requirements are specific: the user must be at least 18 and in the US, use a Pixel 11 with a US SIM, sign in to the Gemini mobile app, have a Google AI subscription, use the Public Beta Phone by Google app and the latest Gemini app, and set the device language to English. The feature calls US phone numbers only and is gradually rolling out. Meeting the device requirement alone does not guarantee access. Check Google’s current eligibility and availability information before relying on it.

The user reviews a summary—including the number to call and details to be shared—before tapping “Call for me.” During the call, Google says the user can monitor a live transcript or audio, cancel before connection, or take over. Google also says each call begins by disclosing that a Google AI assistant is calling on the user’s behalf on a recorded line and stating the user’s name. Calls use the user’s mobile network and number, standard carrier rates apply, and daily call limits apply. Google bars this feature for emergency calls, financial transactions or sensitive financial information, sensitive personal information such as passwords or health information, and telemarketing. How Gemini handles everyday tasks
Gemini’s documented everyday-task appeal is its connection to Google apps. In an August 26, 2026 announcement, Google described Gemini Live voice workflows such as a spoken daily briefing combining Gmail and Calendar, searching or summarizing Gmail, starring, archiving, or deleting messages, and delegating some multi-step tasks—for example, turning email invitations into calendar events. Google says Spark requires Google AI Pro or higher and Daily Brief requires Google AI Plus or higher. What Siri offers on iPhone
Apple describes Siri as supporting conversational requests, corrections, typed requests, and follow-up requests that retain context. Apple Intelligence availability varies by iPhone model, language, and region; consult Apple’s iPhone Siri guide for the applicable features and requirements.
Apple’s September 14, 2026 announcement describes Siri AI as beginning a beta rollout in English, with additional languages planned for the following month. It also introduces “Call Context,” which can surface details such as a confirmation code or reservation number when you call a business. That is assistance during a call you make—not evidence that Siri will independently place the call. How to decide without overpromising
- Pick Gemini on Android if you want Google’s documented Phone app calling and connected-app voice workflows. If delegated business calls are the deciding feature, verify every eligibility condition and rollout status first.
- Pick Siri on iPhone if you value system-integrated conversational tasks, follow-up context, and relevant information appearing during calls. Check compatibility for your specific iPhone, language, and region.
- Do not choose by claimed call success rate. The cited Google and Apple materials describe functions and requirements, but do not establish comparable real-world success rates or independent test results.
