The best accessories for the Lenovo Legion Go S are a model-specific screen protector, a USB-C dock, a 65W USB-C Power Delivery charger and a reliable microSDXC card. Together they protect the 8-inch touchscreen, turn the handheld into a desktop or TV system, preserve the intended charging performance and add space beyond the built-in 512GB or 1TB SSD options.
This shortlist follows Lenovo’s documented hardware: two USB4 ports with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0, a microSD reader rated for cards up to 2TB, and a specified 65W USB-C adapter. The right choice within each category depends on fit, ports, cable layout, thermal behavior, warranty and regional compatibility rather than on a brand name alone.

Both USB-C ports support USB4, DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. Lenovo’s PSREF says that various docking solutions are supported through USB-C, so a dock is a documented use rather than an improvised workaround. The built-in card reader accepts microSD cards up to 2TB. Lenovo’s specified AC adapter is USB-C, 65W, rated at 20V and 3.25A.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Lenovo also lists Windows 11 Home or SteamOS, depending on configuration or edition. An accessory should therefore work as a standard USB-C, DisplayPort or microSD device without relying on a companion utility that exists only on one operating system.

1. Choose a screen protector made for the Legion Go S
A model-specific protector is the most straightforward first purchase. Lenovo maintains a dedicated “Lenovo Legion Go S Screen Protector – Overview and Service Parts” page, originally published January 17, 2025. Search using the exact phrase “Lenovo Legion Go S screen protector” so that you do not accidentally buy a protector cut for a different Legion handheld.

What the protector must cover
Look for a protector shaped for the complete 8-inch panel, including the usable touch area and its corners. A protector that is merely close in diagonal size can leave edges exposed or overlap the bezel. Check product photographs and dimensions against your unit before opening the package.
- Touch sensitivity: The Go S is a touchscreen, so the adhesive layer and thickness should not interfere with taps, swipes or on-screen controls.
- Surface finish: A clear finish preserves the display’s stated brightness and color character. A matte finish can reduce reflections and fingerprints but may introduce a different texture or a small amount of grain.
- Case clearance: If you use a protective case, verify that its lip does not lift the protector at the corners.
- Installation method: Alignment trays, dust-removal stickers and a cleaning kit reduce the risk of trapped particles. A wet-install product can be more forgiving for alignment, but it needs a clean, dust-free workspace and drying time.
Installation procedure
- Shut down the handheld and disconnect every cable. Work indoors on a clean, flat surface away from fans or open windows.
- Wash and dry your hands, then clean the display with the supplied wipe or a clean, lint-free cloth. Remove every visible speck with the dust-removal sticker.
- Test-fit the protector without exposing its adhesive. Identify the camera, sensors, bezel and any alignment marks.
- Peel back only the first section of liner, align that edge, and lower the protector gradually. Use the supplied squeegee or a wrapped card to push bubbles toward the nearest edge.
- Inspect under a bright light. Small bubbles caused by air can often be pushed out; a particle trapped under the film generally requires lifting that section and removing the particle with tape.
- Leave the protector undisturbed for the period specified by its maker before installing a tight case or cleaning the surface.
There is no controlled third-party durability comparison established for Go S protectors. Treat impact claims as product-specific marketing unless the seller provides a test standard. The useful comparison is fit, touch behavior, optical finish and installation quality.
2. Pick a USB-C dock that matches your setup
The Go S has two USB-C ports with USB4, DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0 support, and Lenovo explicitly documents USB-C docking compatibility. A dock is worthwhile if you want to connect a monitor or television, keyboard, mouse, Ethernet or several USB devices without repeatedly moving individual plugs.

Ports and video output
Start with the display connection you actually use. A dock with DisplayPort suits a computer monitor; HDMI may be more convenient for a television. Confirm the dock’s supported resolution and refresh combinations rather than assuming that every USB4 dock offers the same output. The handheld’s panel is 16:10, while many televisions are 16:9, so check how your operating system handles scaling and unused space when connected to an external screen.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf you use two displays, verify that the dock, operating system and graphics mode support that arrangement. The Go S’s DisplayPort 1.4 capability describes the link from the handheld; it does not guarantee every multi-monitor mode advertised by a dock.
USB, network and power considerations
- USB ports: Count the devices you intend to attach. Two or more USB-A ports are convenient for older peripherals; USB-C data ports help with modern drives and accessories. Check whether a port is data-only or also carries charging.
- Ethernet: Choose a dock with the network speed and connector you need if wired online play or large downloads matter. Confirm that the operating system recognizes its adapter without a proprietary driver.
- Power Delivery: The dock should pass enough USB-C PD power for the handheld and connected peripherals. A dock’s advertised maximum is not necessarily what reaches the Go S after the dock reserves power for itself.
- Cable length: A short captive cable keeps a desk tidy but may not reach a handheld positioned beside a television. A detachable cable is easier to replace, provided it supports the required data and power rates.
- Physical clearance: The Go S’s USB-C ports are on the top edge. A bulky plug, rigid cable or dock body can interfere with the handheld’s controls or vents. Look for a cable that exits upward or sideways without stressing the connector.
Connecting a dock safely
- Place the dock where its cables will not pull the handheld from its stand. Leave airflow around both devices.
- Connect the dock’s power input using a compatible USB-C PD supply. If you want the dock to charge the Go S, make sure the supply has sufficient capacity for the dock’s own overhead and the handheld.
- Attach the monitor or television, then connect keyboard, mouse, storage and Ethernet.
- Connect the dock to one of the Go S USB-C ports. If a display does not appear, try the other port because both are documented as capable of DisplayPort output, but cable and dock behavior can still vary.
- In Windows, open display settings to choose duplicate, extend or external-only output. In SteamOS, use its display settings and desktop-mode controls for the same decisions.
- Test sleep, wake, hot-unplugging and reconnecting before relying on the dock for a presentation or travel setup.
3. Use a 65W USB-C charger as the compatibility baseline
Lenovo specifies a 65W USB-C AC adapter with a 20V, 3.25A output. That specification is the sensible baseline for a spare charger, travel charger or replacement. Choose a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated for at least 65W and sold with the correct plug for your region.

How to compare chargers
| Criterion | Why it matters for the Go S |
|---|---|
| USB-C PD profile | The charger must negotiate USB-C Power Delivery rather than relying on a generic USB-C output. |
| Rated power | At least 65W aligns with Lenovo’s specified adapter. A higher headline wattage does not by itself make the handheld charge faster. |
| Number of outputs | Multiple USB-C ports are useful for a phone or tablet, but sharing power can reduce the output available to the Go S. |
| Cable | Confirm that a suitable USB-C cable is included or buy one rated for the charger; a cable is not automatically capable of every advertised power level. |
| Size and heat | Compact GaN designs save bag space, while any charger should have adequate ventilation and a clear warranty policy. |
| Regional plug and warranty | Voltage, plug shape, certification and support differ by market. Buy the version intended for your country. |
Do not read “higher wattage” as a promise of a higher Go S charging rate. The handheld’s documented adapter remains the compatibility reference, and the device will negotiate the power it supports. A multi-port charger may also reduce output when another device is connected.
Travel setup and fault checks
- Before a trip, connect the charger directly to the Go S and verify that charging is indicated while the system is running.
- If charging is intermittent, remove hubs and docks, try the other USB-C port, inspect the cable for damage and test with the original adapter if available.
- If the charger becomes unusually hot, place it in an open area, disconnect other devices and consult its safety documentation. Do not cover it with clothing or bedding.
- For charging through a dock, check the dock’s own power requirement first; a 65W supply connected to a power-hungry dock may leave less than the handheld needs.
4. Add a microSDXC card for games and media
The built-in reader supports microSD cards up to 2TB. That makes a microSDXC card the practical expansion choice when the internal PCIe 4.0 SSD is full, especially on a 512GB configuration or for users who keep several large games installed.
What to compare
- Capacity: Pick enough space for your library while staying within the documented 2TB maximum. A smaller card can be easier to replace and less expensive; a larger card reduces swapping.
- Sustained performance: Compare sustained read and write specifications, not only a burst speed printed on the package. Installation, updates and large file transfers expose weak sustained performance.
- Authenticity: Buy through a seller with a clear return policy. Counterfeit cards can report a false capacity and corrupt data after they fill.
- Warranty: A longer warranty and a traceable manufacturer support channel matter because a failed card can take saved data with it.
- Use case: Game storage, screenshots and video recordings have different write patterns. Choose a card whose stated endurance and performance fit how you use the handheld.
Preparing and moving a card
- Back up important saves and files before inserting or removing a card. Cloud synchronization, where available, is not a substitute for a separate backup.
- Power the Go S down completely before inserting the card. Push it in until the retention mechanism clicks; never force it.
- In Windows, use the storage settings or the relevant game launcher to initialize and format the card as requested. In SteamOS, use its desktop storage tools or game-library settings. Formatting erases existing data.
- Install one game and copy a large file as a test. Watch for disconnects, read errors or speeds that collapse during a sustained transfer.
- When removing the card, shut down or use the operating system’s eject function first. Removing it during a write can corrupt the filesystem.
A microSD card supplements the internal SSD; it does not turn the reader into an equivalent replacement for the handheld’s PCIe 4.0 storage. Keep the operating system and frequently played titles on the faster internal drive when load times matter, and use the card for capacity-sensitive libraries and media.

Accessory combinations for different owners
Portable-first owner
Choose the screen protector and a 65W charger. This combination protects the display during travel and gives you a known-compatible spare power source without adding a dock to your bag. Add a microSDXC card only when the internal capacity becomes a constraint.
Desk or TV player
Choose a dock first, then confirm that its video connector, USB ports and Ethernet match your setup. Pair it with the 65W charger recommended by the dock maker if the dock does not include an adequate supply. A protector remains useful because the handheld can be undocked and carried at any time.
Large-library owner
Prioritize a reputable microSDXC card at a capacity appropriate for your library, then add a protector. Keep installation files and backups organized so a card failure does not erase the only copy of important data.

Favor standards-based accessories: USB-C PD charging, DisplayPort or HDMI video, class-compliant USB peripherals and a card that the operating system can format normally. Avoid a dock or storage device that requires a utility available only on one platform unless you have confirmed support for both.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Buying by diagonal size alone: A protector for another 8-inch device can have different edges, sensor cutouts or aspect ratio. Use the exact Go S model name.
- Assuming every USB-C hub is a dock: A basic hub may lack display output, Ethernet, adequate PD pass-through or a cable long enough for a stand. Match the port list to your planned setup.
- Ignoring power sharing: A charger may advertise a high total output but allocate less when several ports are occupied. Check the per-port table.
- Expecting a larger charger to override device limits: The Go S negotiates power; a higher rating is useful as headroom, not proof of faster charging.
- Choosing a card on capacity only: Unverified cards and weak sustained performance can cause failed installs and corrupted files. Prioritize authenticity and warranty.
- Blocking airflow: Do not place the handheld, dock or charger under fabric or in a closed compartment while operating or charging.
- Forgetting cable direction: A rigid cable connected to a top-mounted port can press against the case or controls. Test the bend radius before committing to a dock layout.
A practical buying checklist
- Confirm your Go S edition and operating system, then note whether it has 512GB or 1TB internal storage.
- For a protector, verify exact model fit, full-panel coverage, touch response, surface finish and case clearance.
- For a dock, list every device you will connect and check video output, USB types, Ethernet, PD pass-through, cable length and physical clearance.
- For a charger, select USB-C PD at 65W or more, verify the 20V profile, buy the correct regional plug and account for power sharing.
- For a microSDXC card, stay at or below the 2TB reader limit and compare sustained performance, authenticity and warranty.
- Read the seller’s return terms and confirm current price and stock immediately before purchase.
- Test each accessory at home: touch input through the protector, external display and peripherals through the dock, charging under load, and a sustained card transfer.
Bottom line
Start with a Lenovo Legion Go S screen protector, then add accessories according to how you play. A USB-C dock is the biggest upgrade for a monitor or TV setup; a 65W USB-C PD charger is the safest spare-power baseline; and a microSDXC card is the most direct way to expand game storage. Lenovo’s published port, power and storage specifications provide clear compatibility targets, but fit, cable layout, power sharing, authenticity and warranty still determine whether a particular product is a good buy.
