Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor most UK groups, GTX Gaming is the safest managed choice because it combines a London location, crossplay, overhaul support, backups and 24/7 assistance. Glitch Servers has the lowest published UK starting price at £6.99 per month, Fly-Serv starts at £3.99 and is aimed at heavily modded servers, while Shockbyte offers clearly defined player/RAM tiers. These are comparisons of published specifications, not controlled performance tests; no independent benchmark here proves that one provider is universally fastest or most reliable.
Budget 6–8GB of RAM for a normal eight-player world and 12–16GB for Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy or similarly demanding overhauls. Put the server in a UK datacentre when most players are in Britain, but ask for the actual city and test latency before paying for a long term.

Prices are advertised entry rates and may change at renewal or when you add RAM, storage or slots. A low headline price is not an apples-to-apples performance comparison: the plans allocate different memory amounts and player counts.
How much RAM does an eight-player 7 Days to Die server need?
GameServerHosting.co.uk’s 2026 guidance puts a standard eight-player server at 6–8GB RAM. That is a planning range, not a guarantee: world size, view distance, entity count, Blood Moon activity, backup jobs and mods all change the peak. Starting with 8GB gives a small vanilla group more headroom than selecting the cheapest plan solely by price.
#1 Best Overall
- Explore – Huge, rich environments, with unique biomes and worlds up to 100 square kilometres in size.
- Craft – Handcraft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, with hundreds of recipes and schematics.
- Build – Design your fort with traps, electricity, auto turrets, and gadgets to survive in a fully destructible and mouldable world.
- Cooperate or Compete – Work together to build settlements or against each other in a wasteland where zombies and outlaws rule the land.
- A must-have for collectors and fans of Open-World Survival Horror, the 7 Days to Die – Console Edition Survival Bundle includes the following: An exclusive Artbook with over 100 pages showcasing never-before-seen illustrations of the zombie apocalypse, a CD featuring the haunting Original Soundtrack (OST) of the game, a double-sided poster, Fine art prints x3, Sticker sheets x 3, the physical game, and a collectible tuck-in box housing all the contents.
Vanilla and lightly modified worlds
- 6GB: a possible starting point for a small, lightly populated world when the host’s CPU and storage are adequate.
- 8GB: the sensible default for up to about eight regular players, especially if several players explore different regions at once.
- 10GB or more: useful when the provider includes extra memory, the world has accumulated many entities, or players regularly gather for Blood Moon events.
Overhauls and large mod collections
Plan for 12–16GB for Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy and other substantial overhauls. Mods increase memory use and can increase CPU work during world generation, crafting, AI and horde nights. Prioritise CPU headroom as well as RAM; adding memory to a weak or oversubscribed CPU does not cure simulation stalls.
Signs that you need a larger plan
- Players rubber-band while the server reports high tick or simulation delay.
- Log files show Java/.NET memory pressure, allocation failures or repeated garbage collection.
- Horde nights become unstable when several players use vehicles, explosives or large bases.
- Restarts temporarily fix lag, but the problem returns as the world and entity count grow.
Increase resources one step at a time and observe the same activity that caused the problem. Record the RAM allocation, CPU tier, player count and mod list so you can tell whether an upgrade helped.
Which UK host fits your group?
GTX Gaming: best managed all-rounder and crossplay option
GTX Gaming advertises servers from £8.80 per month with 8–100 slots, UK/London infrastructure and 19 worldwide locations. Its published feature set includes instant setup, full mod and overhaul support, crossplay for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, scheduled off-site backups, enterprise DDoS protection and 24/7 support.
The provider says its London servers can deliver under 20ms, but that is a provider statement rather than an independent measurement. Your route, ISP and players’ cities determine actual ping. Ask which London facility you would receive and test it during the refund period.
GTX’s FAQ says the included tier can reach 10GB RAM and 100GB NVMe, with paid upgrades up to 64GB RAM. That makes it a practical path from an eight-player vanilla world to a much heavier installation without changing host. The trade-off is the higher entry price than the cheapest advertised offers. The stated refund period is 24 hours, so test installation, joining, console compatibility and backups immediately.
Glitch Servers: lowest published UK starting price
Glitch lists 7 Days to Die from £6.99 per month and advertises a UK datacentre, selectable DDR5 RAM, NVMe storage, daily automated backups, DDoS protection and a Pterodactyl control panel. It claims sub-10ms UK latency and says its servers use bare-metal UK hardware with dedicated RAM allocation. Those are vendor claims; request the exact location and measure from the players who will use the server.

- Farm or Hunt – Plant gardens for sustainable resources or head out to the wilderness and hunt over a dozen unique animals.
Selectable memory is valuable when a vanilla server grows into a modded one, because you can buy the resource you need instead of paying for a large fixed tier on day one. Confirm the available CPU allocation, maximum RAM, upgrade price and whether increasing memory requires a restart. Also check how daily backups are retained and whether you can download or restore a specific snapshot.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Fly-Serv: attractive for overhaul-heavy play
Fly-Serv advertises plans from £3.99 per month and says its 7D2D nodes use Ryzen 9 7950X3D processors with DDR5 ECC memory. It specifically supports Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy, offers one-click mods, editable serverconfig.xml settings and WebFTP, and provides scheduled backups that can be restored with one click. Dual-layer anti-DDoS and support seven days a week are also advertised.
The low starting price is not evidence that a heavy overhaul will fit the entry plan. Price the RAM and CPU tier required for your modpack, then verify the actual UK geography at checkout. WebFTP and editable configuration are useful for experienced administrators, but they also mean you can break a server with an invalid setting or incompatible mod. Download a backup before major changes.
Shockbyte: clearest slot-and-memory tiers
Shockbyte publishes unusually explicit tiers: 8 players with 5GB RAM for £8.89 per month, 20 players with 6GB for £14.81, and 30 or more players from £18.60. It advertises instant setup, full mod support, Mod Launcher, specific Darkness Falls support, automatic backups, DDoS protection, FTP access, 24/7 support and global locations.
The 8-player/5GB plan is below the 6–8GB planning range for a comfortable standard server, so compare the cost of adding memory before choosing it. The 20-player plan adds slots but only 1GB, which may be insufficient for a busy modded world. Select a nearby UK location if offered and verify that the chosen tier’s CPU allocation is suitable for Blood Moon activity. Shockbyte states a 72-hour self-serve refund window; use it to test joins, mod installation and restore procedures.

Does the server have to be in London?
No. A London node is useful when most players are in southern England or when the provider’s routing is better there, but “UK” does not guarantee one city or one network path. Players in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or continental Europe may see a different result.

- Unlimited hours of gameplay
- Explore - Huge, unique and rich environments, offering the freedom to play the game however you want
- Craft - craft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, and more
- Build - Take over a ruin, or build from the ground-up. Design your fortress to include traps and defensive positions to survive the undead
- Cooperate or Compete - Includes two player split screen mode, with support for up to 4 players online, in Player versus Player, co-op survival, or co-op creative modes
- Ask support for the city or facility before ordering.
- From at least two players’ connections, run a latency test to the proposed address or join the server during the refund period.
- Test at evening peak time and during a Blood Moon-style load, not only at midday.
- Compare packet loss and jitter as well as average ping. A stable 35ms connection is generally preferable to a fluctuating 15ms one.
GTX’s under-20ms London statement and Glitch’s sub-10ms UK statement should be treated as advertised targets, not measurements that apply to every player.
Crossplay and mods: check the combination, not just each feature
Crossplay changes what clients can install. GTX explicitly advertises PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S crossplay, but console players cannot use every client-side mod available to PC users. Ask whether the intended mod is server-side, whether all clients need the same files, and whether a console participant can join a modded session.
For a PC-only group, Mod Launcher, FTP/WebFTP and direct configuration access can simplify overhaul deployment. Shockbyte names Mod Launcher and Darkness Falls; Fly-Serv names Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy and exposes serverconfig.xml; GTX advertises full mod and overhaul support. “Full support” still requires a compatible game version and a correctly installed modpack.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA safe mod installation sequence
- Stop the server and download the current world and configuration backup.
- Record the game version, modpack version and load order.
- Install the provider’s one-click package or upload files through FTP/WebFTP as instructed by the host.
- Set memory to at least the mod author’s recommendation; for major overhauls, start in the 12–16GB range.
- Start the server and inspect logs before players connect.
- Have one player join first, test crafting, quests, vehicles and a short combat encounter, then invite everyone else.
Backups, restores and DDoS protection
“Backups included” is incomplete information. Before buying, confirm the schedule, retention count, storage location, whether backups run while the server is online, and whether you can restore without opening a ticket. GTX advertises scheduled off-site backups; Glitch advertises daily automated backups; Fly-Serv advertises scheduled one-click-restorable backups; Shockbyte advertises automatic backups. The schedules and retention periods are not stated in the available specifications, so ask before relying on them.
Keep an independent copy of the world, player data and configuration. A restore can erase progress made after the snapshot, so name downloads with the date and game/mod version. Test one restore on a disposable instance or during your refund period.
DDoS protection helps absorb malicious network traffic but does not fix overloaded CPUs, faulty mods or poor routing. GTX describes enterprise protection, while Glitch, Shockbyte and Fly-Serv advertise DDoS or anti-DDoS protection. Ask whether protection is included at the advertised price and whether attacks trigger temporary filtering or downtime.

Managed game server or self-managed virtual server?
A managed game panel is easier when you want a ready-made 7D2D installation, guided mod tools, scheduled backups and support that understands the game. You trade some root-level control for simpler maintenance.
A self-managed VPS gives you operating-system and root control, but you must secure the machine, install the server, configure updates, monitor disk and memory, schedule backups and troubleshoot crashes. It is appropriate for administrators comfortable with Linux or another server OS and command-line recovery. Do not choose it merely because the advertised RAM number looks larger; administration time and missed updates are part of the cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Calculate the real monthly cost
Use the advertised entry price only as the first line of your estimate. Add the resources your world actually needs:
- Base plan plus RAM or CPU upgrades for your player count and overhaul.
- Extra storage if world saves, logs and backups exceed the included NVMe allocation.
- Additional backup retention or downloadable snapshot storage, if charged.
- Taxes, currency conversion and the renewal price after any introductory term.
- Migration time or support fees if a restore or mod installation is not self-service.
| Published example | What it includes | Why the headline number can mislead |
|---|---|---|
| GTX £8.80/month | 8–100 slots; included tier can reach 10GB RAM and 100GB NVMe | Heavy overhauls may require paid memory upgrades; refund window is 24 hours |
| Glitch £6.99/month | UK datacentre, selectable DDR5 RAM, NVMe and daily backups advertised | Exact CPU allocation, upgrade pricing and backup retention are not stated |
| Fly-Serv £3.99/month | Entry price; overhaul support and high-end hardware advertised | UK location and the resources attached to the entry tier must be confirmed |
| Shockbyte £8.89/month | 8 players and 5GB RAM | 5GB is below the safer 6–8GB range for a standard eight-player server |
Purchase and launch checklist
- Count simultaneous players, not the number of people in your Discord group.
- Choose 8GB for a normal eight-player world; target 12–16GB for major overhauls.
- Confirm the CPU tier and whether RAM is dedicated, burstable or shared.
- Confirm the UK city, then test ping and packet loss from representative players.
- Verify crossplay rules before promising console access.
- Ask how to install your exact modpack and game version.
- Read the backup schedule, retention, restore path and download policy.
- Check DDoS coverage, support hours, refund duration and renewal price.
- Start with a fresh world or a copied test world before migrating your main save.
- Use the refund window to test peak-time joins, Blood Moon load, mods, backups and restore.
Common problems and fixes
High ping despite a UK label
Request the city and IP range, test from several ISPs, and move to another UK node if the host offers one. Check packet loss before increasing RAM; memory cannot repair a routing problem.
Lag only during horde nights
Lower simultaneous entity and visual loads, inspect CPU usage, and move to a plan with more CPU headroom. Increase RAM if logs show memory pressure, but do not assume RAM alone is the cause.

Players cannot join after a mod update
Stop the server, verify that every client has the same mod and game versions, restore the pre-update backup if necessary, and read the startup log for dependency or load-order errors.

A restore removed recent progress
Identify the snapshot timestamp before restoring, preserve the current save separately, and ask support whether point-in-time backups exist. Establish a naming and download routine before the next update.
Which host should you choose?
Choose GTX Gaming when you want the most complete managed feature set, London infrastructure and console crossplay. Choose Glitch Servers when the lowest published UK price and selectable memory are the priority, provided its CPU and backup details meet your requirements. Choose Fly-Serv for an experienced administrator running Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy or another demanding overhaul, after confirming the UK node and final resource tier. Choose Shockbyte when a clearly published slot/RAM ladder and named Darkness Falls tooling make budgeting easier.
Whichever option you select, start at 8GB for a standard eight-player server, reserve 12–16GB for major overhauls, test the real route from your players, and validate backups and restores before moving your permanent world.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run Darkness Falls on a UK server?
Yes. Shockbyte specifically advertises Darkness Falls support, and Fly-Serv lists Darkness Falls among its supported overhauls. GTX and Glitch advertise broader mod capability; confirm the exact game version, memory tier and client requirements before installation.
Is 5GB RAM enough for eight players?
It may start a small server, but the published 6–8GB guidance for a standard eight-player world makes 5GB a constrained choice. Shockbyte’s 8-player tier lists 5GB, so budget for an upgrade if you see memory pressure or Blood Moon lag.
What should I test during a host’s refund period?
Test joins from representative UK connections, evening latency, a Blood Moon-scale load, your intended modpack, crossplay if needed, backup creation and an actual restore. Refund windows differ: GTX states 24 hours and Shockbyte 72 hours.
