What “LED TV” means—and where Mini-LED fits
Most TVs described as LED TVs are LCD televisions illuminated by LED backlights. Mini-LED is still an LCD technology, but uses smaller backlight LEDs that can be controlled in more zones. That finer control can improve brightness and contrast compared with conventional LED-backlit LCDs; it does not make the TV an OLED.

Dark rooms and viewers seated to the side
For a dark room, compare black levels and black uniformity, not just the screen’s peak brightness. Also check how the picture changes from your usual side seats. OLED can be a useful alternative when deep blacks and broad viewing angles take priority, although it is outside a strict LED-LCD shortlist.
Screen size and seating distance
TechRadar gives about 2 metres (6.5 feet) as a possible viewing distance for a 65-inch screen. Treat that as a guide, not a rule: seating position, room layout and personal preference matter. Before buying, check that the screen fits the wall or stand and that your main seats do not sit at angles that compromise the picture.

What to check on each exact model
Picture and HDR
- Compare brightness and reflection handling for your lighting conditions.
- Check black performance and uniformity if you watch films in a dark room.
- Confirm the HDR formats supported by the exact regional model and by the services or devices you use.
- Compare viewing angles if several people watch from different seats.
Gaming
For a console or PC, verify the capabilities of the exact model rather than relying on a broad “gaming” label. TechRadar recommends checking for 4K at 120Hz or higher, HDMI 2.1, VRR (variable refresh rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), input lag and the number of suitable HDMI ports. Compare local listings, not just model names
Model names and suffixes can vary by country, as can availability, specifications, tuners, included remotes, software features and supported formats. TCL’s global TV catalogue lists 65-inch Mini-LED and QLED products, but a global catalogue is not proof that any particular model is sold in your market.
