The best exact-60-inch option identified in the 2026 guides is Samsung’s DU7200 LED TV. However, exact 60-inch televisions are now a constrained category. You may find better availability and a wider choice by accepting a 58-inch set or moving up to 65 inches—but those are different physical sizes, not interchangeable labels.
Before ordering, confirm the model code, dimensions, stand layout, local stock and price in your country. The 2026 buying guides cover different markets, and television inventory, suffixes and promotions can change quickly.

What is the best 60-inch TV?
If your cabinet or wall genuinely requires a 60-inch diagonal, start with the Samsung DU7200. It is identified as an exact-60-inch LED model in a 2026 buying guide. That makes it a practical first search, not proof that every retailer or country still carries the same version. Search using the phrase “Samsung 60 inch TV,” then match the complete regional model code shown on the retailer’s page with the code on the manufacturer’s support page.
The more important buying decision is whether you need exactly 60 inches. The 2026 buying guides describe 58-inch and 65-inch televisions as the realistic alternatives because those sizes have broader lineups. A 58-inch model preserves almost the same viewing area while taking slightly less wall or furniture space. A 65-inch model is physically larger but gives you substantially more choice in panel technology, brightness, gaming features and HDR support.

| Choice | What the guides establish | Best fit | Important check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60-inch Samsung DU7200 | Exact-60-inch LED model identified in a 2026 guide | A room or cabinet designed around a true 60-inch set | Regional model suffix, stock, dimensions and current price |
| 58-inch television | Practical alternative when exact 60-inch inventory is limited | Smaller furniture, tighter wall space or buyers prioritising availability | Do not describe it as a 60-inch TV; measure its actual width and stand |
| 65-inch television | Broader current selection than the exact-60-inch category | Viewers who can spare additional width and want more feature choice | Wall clearance, viewing distance, brightness, HDR, gaming inputs and sound |
There is no evidence that one model is universally best for every room. A bright living room, a dark movie room and a console-gaming setup reward different specifications. Treat the DU7200 as the exact-size starting point, then compare 58- and 65-inch sets if your space allows.
Are 60-inch TVs still available?
Yes, but they are less common than 58- and 65-inch televisions in the 2026 guides. Exact-size availability depends on country, retailer, production cycle and the complete model suffix. A product page can remain searchable after a particular regional variant has sold out, or show a model intended for a different power standard or tuner market.
Why the size category is constrained
Television ranges are usually concentrated around a few high-volume sizes. The current guides identify 60 inches as a narrow category and point shoppers toward 58 or 65 inches for a wider choice. That does not mean every 60-inch set has disappeared; it means you should not assume that a “best 60-inch” list can be filled with near-size products without clearly labelling them.

- Read the full model code, including letters and regional suffixes, rather than relying on the retailer’s shortened title.
- Confirm that the diagonal is 60 inches, not 58 or 65 inches.
- Check the product’s stated width, height, depth and stand footprint against your room.
- Verify the tuner, power plug, warranty region and smart-TV software for your country.
- Check whether the item is in stock for delivery to your address and whether the displayed price is a recurring price or a limited promotion.
No single country is specified for this article, so retailer stock, prices and suffixes must remain conditional until your market is confirmed.
Will a 60-inch TV fit my room?
Diagonal size is only the starting point. Bezels, feet, stand position and rear-panel depth determine whether a television actually fits a cabinet or wall. Which? reports average tested dimensions of 86 × 137 × 27 cm for 60-inch sets and 89.7 × 145.3 × 30.7 cm for 65-inch sets. These are averages from tested televisions, not a specification for every model; individual designs vary.
Measure the furniture, not just the wall
- Width: measure the usable top or wall span, including any side clearance needed for ventilation and cable bends.
- Height: measure from the furniture surface to the ceiling or wall obstruction. Include the television’s feet if you will use a stand.
- Depth: measure from the front edge of the cabinet to the wall, then allow room for power, HDMI and antenna plugs. A rear panel can protrude beyond the published cabinet depth.
- Stand footprint: two feet near the edges need more width than a central pedestal. Confirm both the footprint and the permitted screw positions.
- Wall mounting: check the wall type, bracket rating, mounting pattern and the clearance required for ventilation and connections.
Plan the viewing position
Use the television manufacturer’s viewing-distance guidance as a starting point, then check your own seating. The screen should be visible without turning your head sharply, and reflections from windows or lamps should not dominate the picture. Which? provides size and viewing-distance advice, but that recommendation is not a universal rule; eyesight, content and personal preference matter.
A 65-inch set adds both width and height compared with a 60-inch model. If your sofa is close or your cabinet is narrow, the larger screen may be uncomfortable or impossible even when the wall appears large enough. A 58-inch set can be the safer compromise when the extra 5 inches of diagonal would force a new stand or bracket.

Almost all new 60- and 65-inch televisions have 4K resolution, according to Which?. Resolution alone therefore separates few current models. Compare HDR support, peak brightness, reflection handling and the lighting in your room.

4K resolution
4K provides a 3,840-by-2,160-pixel image on most televisions in these sizes. It is useful for 4K streaming, UHD discs and modern game consoles, but a broadcaster or stream may still deliver lower-resolution content. Upscaling quality can matter more than the panel’s pixel count when you watch older television, DVDs or compressed streams.
OLED, Mini LED and QLED LCD
For a 65-inch upgrade, the guides recommend comparing panel technology rather than selecting by size alone.
- OLED: each pixel can switch off independently, making it attractive for dark-room movie viewing and high contrast. Compare the specific model’s brightness, HDR handling, gaming features and warranty terms.
- Mini LED or other advanced LCD designs: use a backlight with many small zones to increase brightness and contrast compared with basic LCD designs. Performance depends on dimming control, viewing angle and the room’s lighting.
- QLED LCD: a quantum-dot layer can improve colour volume and brightness on compatible LCD models. It is not a guarantee of identical HDR performance across brands or model tiers.
These categories overlap in features and price. A bright room may favour a high-output LCD, while a light-controlled room may make OLED contrast more valuable. Read the exact model specification instead of assuming that every television using one technology has the same picture.

HDR formats
Check the HDR formats supported by the particular model and by your streaming services, disc player or console. The guides specifically caution against assuming that all televisions support the same formats. A television can accept HDR input yet deliver a different result depending on brightness, tone mapping and the content source.
What should gamers check?
For console or PC gaming, the model name and screen size are not enough. Confirm the exact refresh rate, variable-refresh-rate (VRR) support, automatic low-latency mode (ALLM), and the number and bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 inputs.
Match the television to the equipment
- Refresh rate: verify the panel’s native rate and the modes supported at your console or PC’s chosen resolution.
- VRR: check whether the television supports the VRR standard used by your graphics hardware and the range over which it operates.
- ALLM: confirm that the set can switch to a low-latency picture mode automatically if that matters to your setup.
- HDMI 2.1: count the ports with the required bandwidth. A television may have multiple HDMI sockets but only some may support the features you need.
- Input lag and game mode: look for independent measurements for the exact model and picture mode; do not infer performance from a brand family or screen size.
No source cited here establishes these specifications for every 60-inch model, so record them from the exact regional product page before buying. If your console uses one HDMI 2.1 port for a sound system and another for the console, port count becomes a practical limitation.
60 inches versus 58 or 65 inches
The best alternative depends on the constraint that matters most: physical space, feature choice or price. The table below keeps the sizes distinct while showing the trade-off.

Choose 58 inches when fit and availability win
Pick 58 inches if a 65-inch screen will overwhelm the room or exceed your cabinet, and if an exact 60-inch model is unavailable at a sensible price. Measure the actual set rather than assuming the two-inch diagonal difference translates to a fixed width reduction.

Choose 65 inches when features matter more than the label
Move to 65 inches when you have enough wall or furniture space and want to compare current OLED, Mini LED and QLED LCD models, higher brightness options, HDR formats or gaming connectivity. Include a new stand, bracket or sound system in the total budget if the upgrade changes your setup.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a 60-inch television step by step
- Set the physical limit. Write down maximum width, height, depth and stand footprint. Leave clearance for cables and ventilation.
- Decide whether 60 inches is mandatory. If the maximum width is flexible, add 58-inch and 65-inch searches rather than forcing a near-size model into an exact-size list.
- Define the room. Note daylight, window reflections, lamp placement and whether you mostly watch films, broadcast television, sports or games.
- Choose a picture priority. Dark-room contrast may point toward OLED; a bright room may favour a high-brightness LCD design. Compare HDR behaviour for the exact model.
- List required inputs. Count consoles, streaming boxes, disc players, sound systems and computers. Then check HDMI version and port count.
- Verify gaming specifications. Confirm refresh rate, VRR, ALLM and the HDMI 2.1 ports required by your hardware.
- Budget for audio. If built-in sound is not sufficient for your room, reserve money and space for a separate soundbar or audio system. The buying guide recommends dedicated audio for viewers seeking stronger sound.
- Check the complete regional code. Compare the retailer listing with the manufacturer’s regional page, including tuner, power and warranty details.
- Recheck stock and price immediately before payment. Inventory and promotions are time-sensitive, and a listing in one country does not establish availability in another.
Sound, connections and everyday usability
Thin televisions have limited space for speakers. Two sets with similar picture specifications can sound very different because of speaker placement, enclosure volume and software processing. Listen in person where possible, or read measurements and reviews for the exact model. If dialogue clarity or room-filling sound is important, include a dedicated soundbar or receiver in the budget rather than treating audio as an afterthought.
Also check the connections you will use every day: HDMI count, optical or eARC output, USB ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi support and antenna inputs. Port placement matters when the set is wall-mounted. A side-facing socket is easier to reach than a rear socket pressed against the bracket, but the exact layout varies by model.
What the 2026 testing evidence does—and does not—say
Which? says it tests almost 200 televisions each year, purchasing each set from the same stores consumers use. That statistic describes Which?’s testing programme; it is not a claim that this article tested the Samsung DU7200 or any other television.
“You can spend a fortune on a 65-inch TV and the large screen size means few could possibly be considered cheap. Our tests have found that spending a lot doesn’t always guarantee you quality, though, and sometimes flashy features that hike the price don’t really make much difference to how they look and sound.”
— Martin Pratt, Which? TV expert
The practical implication is to compare measured picture and sound performance, useful inputs and room suitability instead of paying solely for a larger diagonal or a longer feature list.
Final buying checklist
- Is the television actually 60 inches, or is it a 58- or 65-inch alternative?
- Does the complete model code match your country and retailer listing?
- Will the width, height, depth and stand fit with cable clearance?
- Is the room bright or controlled, and does the panel suit that lighting?
- Which HDR formats does the exact model support?
- Does it provide the refresh rate, VRR, ALLM and HDMI 2.1 ports your console or PC needs?
- Have you included audio equipment, wall mounting and replacement furniture in the budget?
- Are stock, warranty, delivery and price current for your address?
For a strict 60-inch requirement, investigate the Samsung DU7200 first and verify every regional detail. If availability or features are more important than the exact number, compare correctly labelled 58-inch and 65-inch televisions using the same fit, picture, gaming and ownership checks.
