Best 4K TVs of 2026: Which HDR TV Fits Your Room and Budget?

There is no single best 4K HDR TV for every room. Choose an OLED if dark-scene performance matters most; consider a Mini-LED LCD if you watch in a bright room and want high HDR brightness. The LG C6, Samsung S95H, TCL QM7L, Samsung QN90F and Sony BRAVIA 9 II are models to investigate for different needs—not interchangeable winners. Rankings and local prices vary, so verify the exact size, regional model and current stock before buying.

What are the best 4K TVs of 2026?

These examples cover distinct priorities. The cited buying guides use different tests and preferences, so treat their recommendations as starting points rather than a universal ranking.

Model Consider it for What the cited coverage establishes Check before buying
LG C6 OLED A balanced shortlist for mixed viewing and gaming. RTINGS and TechRadar include it in current 2026 OLED recommendations. The cited material does not establish it as best for every buyer. Exact size and regional model; the cited passages do not give comparable model-specific measurements or port details.
Samsung S95H OLED Dark-scene viewing and a broad set of gaming features. RTINGS recommends it and describes it as more versatile overall than Sony BRAVIA 9 II for dark-scene performance and gaming-feature breadth. This is RTINGS’ assessment. Exact model and size, local features, price and stock.
TCL QM7L SQD Mini-LED Bright HDR presentation and gaming, provided its two HDMI 2.1 inputs are enough. TechRadar lists a 144Hz panel, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision IQ and Google TV. Its tested unit measured 2,270 nits peak HDR brightness in Filmmaker Mode and 2,419 nits in Standard Mode, with 95% P3 color coverage. Those are TechRadar’s 2026 measurements for its tested model and stated modes, not guarantees for every size or sample. Two of four HDMI inputs are HDMI 2.1; the other two are HDMI 2.0 and limited to 60Hz.
Samsung QN90F Mini-LED A brighter room where reflections are a concern. TechRadar describes it as a bright-room option, citing its Glare Free screen and gaming support. TechRadar’s guide reports 2,086 nits peak HDR brightness for this model. Brightness is a review measurement, not a category guarantee. Confirm local model, size, features and price.
Sony BRAVIA 9 II Bright-room viewing as an alternative to an OLED shortlist. RTINGS describes it as a strong bright-room option relative to the Samsung S95H. The cited material does not provide comparable measurements or enough detail to rank it for every room or use.

Which TV should I buy for my room?

Bright rooms and daytime viewing

Compare peak brightness and reflection handling, not brightness alone. Direct light and reflections can make a screen difficult to watch even when its HDR highlights are powerful. The cited coverage positions the TCL QM7L and Samsung QN90F as Mini-LED options to consider for brighter conditions; TechRadar specifically highlights the QN90F’s Glare Free screen. Sony BRAVIA 9 II is another bright-room option in RTINGS’ comparison with Samsung S95H.

Use those as shortlisting clues, then check the exact size and local model. Review measurements can differ by picture mode and tested sample, while reflection performance depends on where the screen sits relative to windows and lamps.

Dark rooms and movie nights

OLED is a credible choice when black level, shadow detail and dark-scene presentation are priorities. The Samsung S95H is the clearest named example in the cited coverage: RTINGS favors it over BRAVIA 9 II for dark-scene performance and gaming-feature breadth. The LG C6 is another current OLED option to investigate, but the available coverage does not justify calling it the best for every viewer.

OLED versus Mini-LED is not a blanket decision rule. Individual implementation, HDR presentation, reflection handling, price and processing matter. Compare reviews of the exact model and size you can buy.

What should gamers check on a 4K TV?

  • Refresh rate: Match the panel’s supported rate to the gaming devices you use. The TCL QM7L is listed at 144Hz.
  • HDMI 2.1 inputs: Count the ports that support the bandwidth and refresh rate you need. On the reviewed TCL QM7L, two inputs are HDMI 2.1 at up to 144Hz; its other two are HDMI 2.0 and limited to 60Hz. This layout is specific to that model, not all TCL TVs.
  • VRR and ALLM: Confirm support on the exact product specification page and check which inputs provide it. The cited material does not state port-by-port VRR or ALLM details for these examples.
  • HDR: Match the TV’s supported formats to your console, games and streaming services. The TCL QM7L is listed with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision IQ; do not assume other models support the same formats.
  • Input lag: Compare a model-specific review if responsiveness is important. The cited material does not provide comparable input-lag figures for this shortlist.

How to compare HDR, panel technology and picture quality

HDR is more than a peak-brightness number. For a bright room, look at highlights and reflections together. For a dark room, pay closer attention to black level and shadow detail. Also consider color coverage, blooming around bright objects on dark backgrounds, picture processing and how the TV presents the HDR formats you actually watch.

For context, TechRadar’s 2026 TCL QM7L review measured 2,270 nits peak HDR brightness in Filmmaker Mode, 2,419 nits in Standard Mode, and 95% P3 color coverage. TechRadar’s guide reports 2,086 nits peak HDR brightness for the Samsung QN90F. These are model-specific review findings; the TCL figures are mode-specific, and none should be treated as a guaranteed result for every size or unit.

OLED can suit dark-scene viewing, while Mini-LED LCD sets can deliver high HDR brightness for brighter rooms. Neither label tells the whole story: reflection handling, blooming, HDR format support and processing vary by model. Use reviews for the exact model as well as the manufacturer specification sheet.

Which Samsung TV should I buy?

Samsung Canada’s 2026 lineup guide names S95H, S90H and S85H as OLED models, and M90H, M80H, M70H and M60H as Mini-LED models. That list is useful for understanding the Canadian lineup, not for assuming every feature or model name applies elsewhere. Samsung cautions that specifications and feature availability may vary by model and region.

If you are choosing between the S95H and a bright-room Mini-LED, decide first whether dark-scene performance or bright-room viewing is the more important match. For the S95H versus Sony BRAVIA 9 II specifically, RTINGS describes the Samsung as more versatile overall for dark scenes and gaming features, and the Sony as a strong bright-room option. That is a review publisher’s comparison, not a universal result for every room or buyer.

How to confirm the right model before purchase

  1. Choose the screen size and placement. Check your viewing distance, available wall or stand space, stand footprint and port location.
  2. Find the complete local model code. Compare the full SKU—not just a family name—on the manufacturer page for your country. Verify features for the exact size, since availability can vary by model and region.
  3. Match inputs to your devices. Count the HDMI 2.1 ports you need, then verify refresh rate, VRR, ALLM and HDR format support for each relevant input.
  4. Check current local price and stock. Offers and retailer availability change. Compare the same size and regional variant, and review delivery, return and warranty terms.
  5. Consider mounting and sound. If wall-mounting, confirm the TV’s VESA pattern and the mount’s load rating against the TV manual. Check whether the built-in audio suits your room or whether your setup needs external audio.

What the reviews can—and cannot—tell you

The measurements and comparisons here are attributed to RTINGS and TechRadar; they are not first-hand tests by this article’s writer. A review result describes the tested model and conditions, not a promise about every size, regional variant or individual sample. Samsung Canada’s lineup information is manufacturer guidance and carries Samsung’s own qualification that specifications and feature availability vary by model and region.

Prices, promotions and stock change, and the cited coverage does not establish one global best TV or a universal price cutoff. Make the final choice against live local availability and your own room, devices and viewing habits.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
