It is a 1080p LED smart TV with webOS and HDR10/HLG, and the guide credits it with detailed picture quality, good small-screen gaming performance and better-than-expected sound. Its uneven dark tones, weaker handling of fast motion and busy home menu are real limitations. Budget recommendations differ by market: TechRadar lists the Amazon 2-Series (2023) for the US and the TCL S5400 for the UK, while the Samsung Q60D is its QLED category pick. Treat those as regional category recommendations, not universal rankings, and verify the exact model number before buying.

What each recommendation means
LG 32LQ6300: the all-round choice
The LG is the most fully described model in the shortlist. Its 1,920-by-1,080 Full HD panel gives it twice the vertical pixel count of a 720p panel, while the webOS smart-TV system supplies the software interface. TechRadar also lists HDR10 and HLG support. Those specifications make it a sensible fit for a bedroom, kitchen, office or compact living room where you want a sharper-than-HD image without moving to a larger screen.
TechRadar’s positive assessment covers three areas buyers usually care about. The guide describes the image as detailed and colorful, considers its gaming performance good for a small television, and finds the built-in audio better than expected relative to other 32-inch sets it selected. That combination is why it earns the overall position rather than a narrow “best picture” or “best budget” label.
#1 Best Overall
- 720p resolution - View your favorite movies, shows and games in high definition.
- Alexa voice control - The Alexa Voice Remote lets you easily control your entertainment, search across apps, switch inputs, and more using just your voice. Press and hold the voice button and ask Alexa to easily find, launch, and control content, and even switch to cable.
- Access thousands of shows with Fire TV - Watch over 1.5 million streaming movies and TV episodes with access to thousands of channels, apps and Alexa skills, including Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, ESPN+, Sling TV, Paramount+, and other services right from this TV.*
- DTS Virtual-X Sound - An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.
- Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.
The compromises matter. Dark scenes can show uneven black tones, and fast movement is not handled as cleanly as demanding sports or action viewers may want. The source also describes the home menu as cluttered. If you prefer a very simple interface, watch a lot of rapid sports or expect cinema-like black levels, compare the exact set in person or make sure the retailer’s return policy is suitable.
Do not assume every television sold under a similar LG name has the same panel, software version or regional tuner. Match the complete model code, screen size and market listing to the 32LQ6300 reference before ordering.
Amazon 2-Series (2023): US budget category
TechRadar assigns the Amazon 2-Series (2023) its US “best cheap TV” category. That label answers a value question for US buyers; it does not establish that the set has the best picture, gaming response or audio for every room. The reviewed material does not state the exact resolution or a complete port and refresh-rate specification for the relevant 32-inch version.

Retail pages sometimes group several screen sizes together, so a specification shown for a larger model may not apply to the 32-inch version. Check the model code on the box or product information, not only the series name.
TCL S5400: UK budget category
The TCL S5400 is TechRadar’s UK budget recommendation. Its category placement is market-specific: a television sold as an S5400 in the UK can differ from similarly named products in another country. The reviewed material does not establish the exact resolution or other detailed specifications for the 32-inch model, so those details must come from the UK retailer or manufacturer listing for the precise code.
For a low-cost purchase, compare the total delivered price, return terms, warranty length and included remote as carefully as the panel specification. A small difference in price can be worthwhile if one listing provides the resolution and software features you actually need, while a cheaper listing with an unclear model identity creates avoidable risk.

Samsung Q60D: QLED category
TechRadar places the Samsung Q60D in its “best QLED TV” category. QLED is a display design category rather than a guarantee of identical performance across screen sizes. The reviewed material does not provide the 32-inch Q60D’s resolution, refresh rate, HDR implementation or port configuration. Confirm those items for the exact regional model before treating it as a match for gaming or high-dynamic-range viewing.
A QLED label can be attractive if you prioritize a vivid picture, but do not choose it solely from the badge. Compare measured or clearly stated contrast, black uniformity, motion features and the smart-TV interface for the specific size you will buy.
Roku’s 32-inch options: resolution depends on the SKU
Roku’s official lineup includes 32-inch televisions in its Select Series HD range. The lineup contains both 720p and 1080p variants, so “32-inch Roku TV” is not a complete specification. Two sets with the same screen size and series family can therefore have different native pixel counts.
| Roku Select Series HD detail | What is established | What you must verify |
|---|---|---|
| Screen size | 32-inch versions are listed | The precise model code and regional availability |
| Resolution | Some SKUs are 720p; others are 1080p | Native resolution for the listing you are considering |
| Operating system | Roku OS | Regional app support, updates and any retailer-specific bundle |
| Price and stock | Roku’s finder displays starting prices and retail-finding options | Current price, seller, shipping, warranty and stock at checkout |
Use the model code as the deciding identifier. If a listing headline says only “32-inch Roku TV,” expand the specification section or product manual until the resolution is explicit. This single check prevents buying a 720p set when you expected Full HD.
How to compare a 32-inch television
1. Resolution and viewing distance
At 32 inches, the televisions covered by the reviewed guide are generally 720p or 1080p rather than 4K. TechRadar’s guidance is that the extra pixel count can be less noticeable at this size, but that is a viewing-condition judgment, not a universal rule. Distance, eyesight, source quality and the type of content all affect whether you see a difference.
Recommended Free Tools
- Choose 1080p when you sit relatively close, use the screen as a PC or console display, or want finer text and interface detail.
- Consider 720p for a secondary screen viewed from farther away when keeping the purchase price low matters more than fine detail.
- Do not infer resolution from “HD,” “Full HD” or a series name. Read the native-resolution field for the exact SKU.
- Remember that a lower-resolution source cannot create additional detail merely because the television has a higher-resolution panel.
There is no research-supported reason in the reviewed material to promise that every viewer will see a dramatic improvement from one resolution at this size. If possible, judge the screen from the distance and content you will actually use.

2. Picture quality beyond the pixel count
Resolution is only one part of image quality. Compare color accuracy or color modes, contrast, shadow detail, highlight handling and black uniformity. TechRadar describes the LG as detailed and colorful but notes uneven dark tones, illustrating why a higher pixel count does not eliminate panel weaknesses.
Ask how the set handles the material you watch most. Dark films expose black-uniformity issues; animated programs reveal color and processing choices; subtitles and news graphics reveal scaling and text clarity. A specification sheet rarely captures all of these behaviors, so professional reviews and a retailer’s return policy remain useful when the evidence for a model is limited.
3. HDR claims
The LG 32LQ6300 is listed with HDR10 and HLG support. That tells you which signal formats it can accept, not how bright or contrasty every HDR scene will look. For other models in the shortlist, the reviewed material does not establish HDR formats. Confirm both the supported formats and the panel’s practical HDR capability before paying extra for an HDR-focused purchase.

4. Motion and gaming
TechRadar calls the LG a solid small gaming television but also reports difficulty with fast motion and no next-generation features. The source does not establish a complete refresh-rate or input-feature specification for every candidate. Buyers with demanding console requirements should check the exact refresh rate, input lag measurements, variable-refresh support, auto low-latency behavior and the HDMI specification for the particular model.
For casual games, menu navigation and controller response may matter more than advanced console features. For competitive play, verify those features before ordering rather than assuming that a “gaming” description applies to every size in a product family.
5. Smart-TV software
The LG uses webOS, and TechRadar describes its home menu as cluttered. Roku models use Roku OS. Interface preference affects daily use as much as panel quality: consider how quickly you can reach live television, inputs and streaming apps, whether voice control is included, and whether the apps you need are available in your country.

App catalogs and software behavior can vary by region and can change after publication. Check the current regional support list and the retailer’s exact operating-system description. If you already use a particular streaming platform, confirm that it is supported natively or budget for an external streaming device.
6. Built-in sound
TechRadar says sound on its selected 32-inch televisions falls short overall and suggests a soundbar when dialogue clarity matters. The LG is a relative exception in that guide, with better-than-expected audio. No specific soundbar model was tested for this comparison.
Listen for speech intelligibility rather than only maximum loudness. A compact room may be adequately served by the built-in speakers, while a larger or noisy room can benefit from an external speaker. Check the television’s audio-output options and the soundbar’s connection requirements before buying both pieces.
7. Price, seller and availability
Television pricing changes frequently, and the reviewed material does not establish live stock, a specific seller or a current Amazon listing for each model. Roku’s product finder shows starting prices and retail-finding options, but those figures are not a guarantee of the price you will pay.
- Compare the final checkout price, including delivery and taxes.
- Confirm that the seller is authorized and that the warranty applies in your country.
- Check whether the listing is new, refurbished or open-box.
- Match the model code printed in the listing to the specification page and the box label.
- Review return terms in case the panel has visible uniformity or motion problems.
A step-by-step buying process
- Define the room. Measure your seating distance, decide whether the set is a main or secondary screen, and note whether daylight, subtitles, sports or console gaming dominates your use.
- Set a minimum resolution. Pick 1080p if close viewing, computer text or fine game graphics matter; accept 720p only when the distance and budget make that trade-off reasonable.
- Choose the software ecosystem. Decide whether webOS, Roku OS or another platform fits your app and remote-control habits, then verify regional availability.
- Shortlist by exact model code. Do not compare only series names. A 32-inch variant can have different resolution, HDR, ports or audio from a larger sibling.
- Check motion and input specifications. Casual players can be satisfied with basic inputs; demanding console users should verify refresh rate, input lag and advanced gaming features.
- Evaluate sound. If dialogue is critical, plan for a compatible soundbar or other external audio solution and verify the required output connection.
- Confirm seller terms. Record the price at checkout, warranty, delivery date and return window before paying.
- Inspect on arrival. Check for shipping damage, dead pixels, uneven dark scenes and motion behavior while the return period is still open.
Setup checks that prevent common disappointments
Verify the information screen
After setup, open the television’s system or support menu and record the model number, software version and detected input resolution. This catches a mismatched listing or a lower-resolution variant before you discard the packaging.
Use the right source settings
Set a console, streaming box or computer to a resolution the television supports. If text looks soft, check whether the source is outputting 720p to a 1080p set or whether the television is applying an overscan or zoom mode. Use the display’s native aspect-ratio or “just scan” style setting when available, but confirm the label in your model’s manual because menu names differ.

Judge the panel in realistic scenes
Test a dark scene, a bright daytime scene, scrolling text and a fast camera pan. Look from your normal seat, not with your face against the panel. Note any black-uniformity issue, motion smear or distracting processing while a return remains possible.
Make dialogue easy to understand
Try the television’s speech or clear-voice mode if offered, then compare normal programming at your usual volume. If voices remain difficult to follow, an appropriately connected soundbar is the practical next step; the reviewed material does not identify a particular model.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
Mistake: treating every 32-inch Roku TV as Full HD
Fix: Roku’s Select Series HD includes both 720p and 1080p 32-inch variants. Verify the SKU’s native resolution in the official product information and retailer listing.

Mistake: buying from a series name alone
Fix: Confirm size, resolution, HDR formats, operating system, inputs and warranty for the exact 32-inch variant. Product families frequently span several configurations.

Which type of buyer should choose which pick?
| Your priority | Most relevant starting point | Why | Check before purchase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balanced picture, smart features and sound | LG 32LQ6300 | TechRadar’s overall pick; 1080p, webOS, HDR10/HLG and relatively strong audio in the guide | Dark-scene uniformity, fast-motion performance, menu preference and exact regional code |
| Lowest-cost US option | Amazon 2-Series (2023) | TechRadar’s US budget category choice | Exact resolution, ports, software, warranty and current seller |
| Lowest-cost UK option | TCL S5400 | TechRadar’s UK budget category choice | UK model code, resolution, smart platform and return terms |
| QLED display category | Samsung Q60D | TechRadar’s QLED category choice | 32-inch regional specification, HDR behavior, motion features and price |
| Roku interface | Roku Select Series HD 32-inch variant | Official lineup offers Roku OS in a familiar platform | Whether the chosen SKU is 720p or 1080p, plus app and regional availability |
Bottom line
The LG 32LQ6300 is the clearest all-purpose recommendation in the available guide: it combines Full HD resolution, webOS, HDR10/HLG, a strong picture assessment and comparatively good built-in audio. Its dark-scene uniformity, fast-motion handling and busy menu mean it is not ideal for every viewer. For price-led shopping, use the market-specific Amazon 2-Series (2023) or TCL S5400 categories rather than assuming one budget winner worldwide. Choose the Samsung Q60D when the QLED category is your priority, and treat Roku’s 32-inch Select Series HD models as separate 720p or 1080p choices. In every case, the exact regional model code is more reliable than a series name or a headline price.
