In Cult of Mac’s review, its panel looked consistent in everyday use, but the reviewer did not measure its color claims with a colorimeter. Its 60Hz refresh rate and 400-nit rated brightness also make it a better fit for SDR-focused work than demanding HDR grading.
What the PD2732U is designed to do
The PD2732U combines a 3840 × 2160 IPS panel with a reported pixel density of 163 PPI. Cult of Mac reviewer Rajesh Pandey said the monitor offered useful screen space for his work and that he preferred it to the sharper 5K-at-2× scaling setup he described. That is a workflow preference, not a universal verdict on resolution or scaling.

For Mac users, BenQ’s M-book mode is intended to bring the monitor’s image closer to a MacBook display. Pandey noticed a slight color-temperature difference between the two in his use, so it should not be treated as a guarantee of a perfect match.

BenQ’s figures, as reported in the September 27, 2026 Cult of Mac review, are 100% sRGB, 100% Rec.709, 99% Adobe RGB and 99% P3 coverage, with average Delta E of 2 or lower. The review also reports factory calibration, a calibration report, Calman Verified status and Pantone Validation. These are manufacturer-related claims in the review, not measurements independently confirmed by its author.
#1 Best Overall
- ACCURATE & CONSISTENT COLORS: Factory-calibrated with 99% Adobe RGB/Display P3, 100% sRGB/Rec.709, Delta E ≤ 2, AQCOLOR Pilot software, Nano Matte Black Panel, Calman Verified and Pantone Validated.
- UNIFORMITY CALIBRATION: Uneven color and brightness can affect visual judgment. BenQ's full-panel calibration ensures consistency across the display, helping you proof accurately and reduce rework.
- Mac-READY WORKSTATION: M-book mode matches Mac colors, iKeyboard Control syncs brightness & volume with Mac keyboard and iDevice Color Sync previews how content appears across your Apple devices.
- THUNDERBOLT 4 & FLEXIBLE CONNECTIVITY: Up to 90W charging, 40Gbps transfers and daisy chain support for dual 4K displays via Thunderbolt 4. Built-in KVM streamlines workflows.
- ERGONOMIC DESIGN & CREATOR-READY FEATURES: Wireless Hotkey Puck, Display Pilot 2, plus pivot, swivel, tilt, and height adjustment for personalized comfort and productivity.
Pandey described the colors and screen uniformity as good in his visual use and said he did not notice major IPS glow. He was explicit about the limit of that assessment: “I do not have a colorimeter, so I cannot independently verify BenQ’s gamut or calibration claims.” For work where color accuracy must be documented, treat the listed figures as a starting point and verify the individual display with appropriate measurement tools.
SDR is the stronger fit than serious HDR
The monitor supports HDR10 and HLG, but BenQ’s rated brightness is 400 nits, as reported by Cult of Mac. Pandey considered that insufficient for demanding HDR work. The practical distinction is that HDR format compatibility does not by itself establish the brightness or overall performance needed for critical HDR grading. The review’s favorable use case is SDR creative work.

Ports and desk setup
The review lists a Thunderbolt 4 input with up to 90W power delivery, useful for connecting and charging a laptop through one cable. A second Thunderbolt port provides up to 15W output for a downstream device. Pandey used Thunderbolt daisy-chaining and reported that it worked in his setup.

| Connection or feature | What the review reports |
|---|---|
| Thunderbolt 4 input | Up to 90W power delivery |
| Thunderbolt output | Up to 15W output |
| Video inputs | HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 |
| USB | USB-C upstream data, one USB-C accessory port and three USB-A accessory ports; USB accessory connections are reported at up to 5Gbps |
| Other | Headphone jack |
| Smart KVM | Allows a keyboard and mouse to be shared between two connected computers |
That mix can simplify a setup with a laptop, peripherals and a second computer. Smart KVM is relevant if you regularly switch the same keyboard and mouse between two systems; it is a convenience feature, not a substitute for checking that your particular devices and workflow are supported.

Controls, stand and software
The stand supports height, tilt, swivel and portrait rotation, and the display accepts a 100 × 100mm VESA mount. Cult of Mac describes the monitor shell as mostly plastic and the stand base as metal.
The included Hotkey Puck G3 connects as a separate physical controller, with a dial and three customizable keys. Pandey found that it sometimes responded with a delay. BenQ’s Display Pilot 2 software offers input switching, Mac keyboard brightness controls and other settings; the reviewer found the app useful but in need of more polish. If you prefer direct monitor controls and stable software, these are worth weighing alongside the panel itself.

Refresh rate and buying details
The PD2732U is a 60Hz monitor. That is consistent with a conventional creative-work display, but it is a compromise if high-refresh motion is a priority for gaming or other fast-moving content.
