A commuter identified as X user Sumanth said he left work in Whitefield at about 7 p.m. and reached home at 10:40 p.m., blaming a long, frustrating trip on disorderly traffic and saying he saw no traffic police at important junctions. Hindustan Times reported his account on October 1, 2026, while noting that it had not independently verified the claims.
What the commuter said happened
In a post on X, Sumanth described travelling home from Whitefield after work. He said the journey began at around 7 p.m. and ended at 10:40 p.m.—more than three hours later. Hindustan Times reported the post on October 1, 2026. The account does not identify his destination, route distance, or the date of the journey, so the reported duration should be understood as one commuter’s experience rather than a measure of travel times across Bengaluru. Hindustan Times’ report says it is based on social-media content that the publication had not independently verified and did not endorse.
His complaint about lane discipline and traffic police
Sumanth said he tried to follow lane discipline and described it as the first day he had not become angry at two-wheeler and auto drivers jumping lanes and weaving through traffic. He also said he had not seen a traffic police officer at important junctions, writing: “I did not see a single traffic police officer at important junctions again. I think they have abandoned city commuters and left us to manage things ourselves.”
That statement records what Sumanth said he observed; it does not establish whether officers were present elsewhere in Bengaluru, at other times, or at the junctions he passed. The report supplies no official comment or independently verified information about police deployment.

What commenters said about other commutes
One commenter asked how much time Sumanth might have saved by not following lane discipline. Another described a different trip from a Whitefield office: travelling on two metro lines, the commenter said, took no more than 45 minutes, with five minutes for last-mile connectivity. These are individual comments quoted by Hindustan Times, not verified travel-time comparisons or a benchmark for other passengers.
Other commenters offered opinions about rain, lane-splitting and blind spots, impatience, and drivers blocking traffic. Those reactions do not establish what caused Sumanth’s delay or represent a measured account of public opinion. A meaningful comparison of car, two-wheeler and metro travel would require matching the origin and destination, departure time, date, and door-to-door timing—details the report does not provide.

Why this account is not citywide traffic evidence
The report provides no named traffic statistic, route data, or expert assessment. It captures one person’s reported journey and his frustration with other road users and the police presence he says he observed. It should not be read as proof that traffic police had abandoned Bengaluru commuters or that lane-changing caused the delay.
This is also distinct from a separate Bengaluru Outer Ring Road account reported by Deccan Herald in May 2026. That story concerned Varun Rangarajan’s post about an ORR trip, including a claim that a segment between Kalyan Nagar and Manyata took nearly 1.5 hours; it does not corroborate Sumanth’s Whitefield journey.
