Belkin ConnectAir AVC024 is a convenient two-piece wireless HDMI link for mirroring or extending a compatible USB-C device to an HDMI screen. It sets up without Wi-Fi, Bluetooth pairing or drivers, and independent hands-on reports found smooth 1080p playback. The trade-offs are decisive: its advertised maximum is 1080p at 60Hz, not 4K, and an obstructed line of sight can cause signal drops. It makes the most sense for meetings, classrooms and casual viewing where removing a long cable matters more than 4K detail or guaranteed operation through furniture and television panels.

What the Belkin ConnectAir AVC024 actually is

ConnectAir is a dedicated wireless video bridge, not a network streaming dongle. The kit has a USB-C transmitter for the source device and an HDMI receiver for the television, monitor or projector. The transmitter sends the source’s DisplayPort video wirelessly to the receiver, which outputs it over HDMI.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Because the devices communicate directly, Belkin says you do not need to join a Wi-Fi network, pair Bluetooth devices or install a driver. That is the main convenience advantage over solutions that depend on an app, a shared network or operating-system support. It also means the adapter is not a general-purpose way to cast content from every device: the source still has to produce video through USB-C.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The receiver still needs an HDMI input and power. Alfred Siew’s Techgoondu hands-on report (September 8, 2026) describes the receiver using HDMI for the display connection and USB-A for power. If a television does not provide a suitable powered USB port, you may need a separate USB power source; treat that as an installation consideration rather than assuming every setup requires an extra accessory.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

ConnectAir specifications and what they mean

Specification Belkin’s stated figure or feature Qualification
Maximum video output Up to 1,920 × 1,080 at 60Hz This is a 1080p/60Hz product, not a 4K wireless adapter.
Advertised range Up to 131 feet (40 metres) Belkin’s maximum claim; room layout, walls and receiver placement affect real operation.
Advertised latency Below 80 milliseconds Belkin states that latency varies with the laptop and monitor connection.
Source connection USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode A USB-C receptacle by itself does not guarantee video output.
Display connection HDMI receiver The receiving display must have an available HDMI input.
Wireless setup Direct transmitter-to-receiver link No Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth pairing or driver installation is required, according to Belkin.
Warranty Two years Listed on Belkin’s US product page.
US list price $149.99 Price and stock can change by country and date.

The range and latency figures are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees for every room or device. They should be read alongside the independent placement observations below. In particular, 131 feet describes the maximum distance Belkin advertises, not a promise that a signal will pass through a wall, cabinet or the back of a television.

Will it work with your laptop, phone or tablet?

The decisive requirement is video-capable USB-C: your source must support DisplayPort Alt Mode over that port. Belkin lists laptops, tablets and smartphones, with Windows, macOS and Chrome OS support. The operating system list is not a substitute for checking the exact hardware model.

Check the USB-C port before buying

  1. Look up the specifications for the exact laptop, tablet or phone model.
  2. Confirm that the specific USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB-C video output or a similarly worded external-display function.
  3. Check whether the device’s own display-output limits allow the resolution and refresh rate you need.
  4. For a phone, verify that its USB-C port supports wired display output; charging-only USB-C ports will not work.
  5. If the device has multiple USB-C ports, identify which one carries video. The ports can look identical while offering different capabilities.

Several USB-C ports can look identical while offering different capabilities. If the manufacturer’s specifications do not mention video output, assume compatibility is unproven rather than relying on the connector’s shape. This check is more important than the operating-system label: a supported version of Windows or macOS cannot make a charge-only port send DisplayPort video.

How to set up ConnectAir

The hardware is designed to avoid a pairing workflow. Use this sequence for a first installation:

  1. Plug the ConnectAir receiver into an open HDMI port on the television, monitor or projector.
  2. Connect power to the receiver. A display’s powered USB port may be sufficient; otherwise use an appropriate USB power source.
  3. Switch the display to the HDMI input used by the receiver.
  4. Insert the USB-C transmitter into the source device’s DisplayPort-Alt-Mode-capable USB-C port.
  5. Wait for the transmitter and receiver to establish their direct link. No Wi-Fi network selection, Bluetooth menu or driver installer should be needed.
  6. Choose mirror or extend mode in the source operating system if you need something other than the default display behavior.

On a Windows computer, display mode is controlled from the operating system’s display settings after the link is active. macOS and Chrome OS provide their own mirror and extended-desktop controls. ConnectAir does not replace those controls; it transports the video signal. A phone or tablet normally uses its own external-display or mirroring behavior, so the exact controls depend on the model.

Mirror or extend: which mode should you use?

Mirroring shows the same desktop or phone screen on both displays, which is usually the simplest choice for a presentation or demonstration. Extending creates a second desktop area, useful when a presenter wants notes or controls on the laptop while the audience sees a separate window. The adapter carries whichever mode the source selects; it does not impose a special presentation interface.

Picture quality, latency and range in real use

1080p at 60Hz is the hard ceiling

Belkin rates AVC024 for up to 1080p at 60Hz. Cult of Mac’s Ed Hardy reported usable 1080p/60Hz viewing in a hands-on test published February 5, 2026. Techgoondu’s Alfred Siew also reported smooth YouTube playback and streamed audio while testing with a Windows laptop and a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on September 8, 2026.

That resolution is well suited to presentation slides, browser work, classroom material, video calls and ordinary streaming on a 1080p display. It leaves less desktop space and fine detail than a 1440p or 4K link, especially on a large monitor viewed close up. Text-heavy spreadsheets and detailed design work may look softer when enlarged, even if the connection remains stable.

Can ConnectAir stream 4K?

No. The product’s stated maximum is 1080p at 60Hz, so it does not meet a 4K-output requirement. Belkin’s support index includes a resource titled “How To Fix a Black Screen or HDCP Error When Playing 4K Content (AVC024),” but the existence of that troubleshooting article does not change the adapter’s output specification.

If your source and display are both 4K and retaining 4K detail is essential, investigate a wired HDMI or USB-C-to-HDMI arrangement instead. The available reviews do not provide a controlled head-to-head test against another wireless adapter, so no particular competing model can be declared faster or sharper from this evidence.

What does below 80ms latency feel like?

Belkin advertises latency below 80ms and explicitly says it varies with the connected laptop and monitor. That is generally appropriate for presentations, menus and casual video. It is not a promise of instantaneous response for competitive gaming or other timing-critical work, and the figure is not an independent laboratory result. Cursor movement and keystrokes can feel less immediate than on a cable, particularly if the display or source adds its own processing delay.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How far can you move from the TV?

Belkin’s advertised maximum is 131 feet (40 metres). Hardy reported successful operation with the transmitter and receiver 30–40 feet apart in his test, but that observation does not establish a universal indoor range. Siew did not test the full 40-metre distance.

Distance is only one variable. Hardy saw intermittent drops when the receiver sat behind a television that blocked the path. Moving the connection to side-facing ports and restoring line of sight improved reliability. The practical lesson is to treat the 131-foot figure as a best-case specification, not a guarantee through a cabinet, a wall or the body of a television.

Placement and power decisions that prevent common failures

  • Keep the receiver visible when possible. A receiver hidden directly behind a TV can lose a clear path to the transmitter.
  • Use a side HDMI port if the rear panel shields the receiver. Hardy’s test improved when the components had line of sight.
  • Provide stable USB power. If the display’s USB port cannot supply suitable power, use another USB power source rather than diagnosing an unpowered receiver as a wireless fault.
  • Start close during setup. Establish the link near the screen, then move the source farther away and check stability at the intended distance.
  • Expect room-specific behavior. The review observations show that furniture and the television itself can matter; they do not predict performance in every building.
  • Plan the receiver’s physical position before mounting the display. A rear HDMI socket may be electrically convenient but radio-unfriendly if the television blocks the transmitter’s path.

Best uses for ConnectAir

Meetings and presentations

A presenter can walk away from the display without running a long HDMI cable across a conference table. The 1080p/60Hz limit is normally adequate for slides, documents and web demonstrations, provided the presenter uses a compatible video-output USB-C port. In a shared room, the lack of Wi-Fi credentials and drivers can also reduce setup friction for visiting presenters.

Classrooms and training rooms

The direct link avoids asking every presenter to join the room’s wireless network or install software. A teacher or trainer can switch sources by moving the transmitter, although the room should be arranged so the receiver is not buried behind the display. Test the intended desks before relying on the full advertised distance.

Casual viewing

Smooth YouTube playback and streamed audio were reported in Siew’s test. ConnectAir can be useful when the sofa, desk or portable device is inconveniently far from the screen and 1080p quality is sufficient. It is a transport link, however, so the source still needs a way to play the service and output its audio and video.

Situations where it is a poor fit

  • Native 4K presentation, 4K video editing or a 4K gaming setup.
  • Installations where the receiver must remain behind a television or inside a closed cabinet.
  • Competitive gaming or other work that cannot tolerate variable wireless delay.
  • Devices whose USB-C ports do not support DisplayPort Alt Mode.
  • Rooms in which a simple wired connection is short, cheap and easy to hide.

ConnectAir versus a wired HDMI connection

The choice is mainly about convenience versus certainty. A wired HDMI cable or USB-C-to-HDMI adapter keeps the signal on a physical path and is the more suitable direction to investigate when 4K output is mandatory. ConnectAir removes the cable between the host and screen, but introduces a wireless path whose range depends on placement and whose advertised latency varies with the connected equipment.

Consideration ConnectAir AVC024 Wired HDMI or USB-C-to-HDMI
Maximum resolution in this comparison 1080p at 60Hz Depends on the cable, adapter and ports; investigate this route when 4K is required.
Setup Plug in the transmitter and powered receiver; no network or driver setup. Connect the cable or adapter directly.
Cable clutter Removes the long host-to-screen cable. Requires a cable long enough to reach the display.
Obstacles Placement and line of sight can affect reliability. A physical cable is not affected by radio-path blockage.
Mobility Lets the source move within the usable wireless area. Movement is limited by cable length.
Total cost US list price was $149.99, plus any power solution needed for the receiver. Usually involves the price of a suitable cable or USB-C-to-HDMI adapter; exact cost depends on the required length and video specification.
  • Choose ConnectAir when you need a quick, direct link for a compatible USB-C device, want to move around the room, and can accept 1080p output.
  • Choose wired HDMI when maximum resolution, predictable operation through obstacles or the lowest possible latency matters more than cable clutter.
  • Check total installation effort. A wired setup may need a longer cable or a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter, while ConnectAir needs a powered receiver and a clear enough path for the wireless link.

Before-you-buy checklist

  1. Confirm the exact source model supports DisplayPort Alt Mode on the USB-C port you intend to use.
  2. Confirm the screen has an available HDMI input and a practical way to power the receiver.
  3. Decide whether 1080p/60Hz is sufficient for your text, video or gaming workload.
  4. Measure the likely transmitter-to-receiver distance and identify walls, cabinets or the television chassis that could block the path.
  5. Budget for the listed $149.99 US price while checking local pricing, stock and warranty terms.
  6. If the use case is 4K, choose a different connection strategy before purchasing rather than expecting a setting to unlock 4K.

Troubleshooting: symptoms and fixes

No picture after plugging everything in

  1. Confirm the receiver has USB power and that the display is set to the receiver’s HDMI input.
  2. Move the transmitter to a USB-C port documented for DisplayPort Alt Mode.
  3. Test with the source and receiver close together to separate a compatibility problem from a placement problem.
  4. Disconnect and reconnect the transmitter after the receiver is powered and on the correct input.
  5. Check the source’s display settings and select mirror or extend mode if the operating system has not enabled the external screen.

Picture drops or goes black intermittently

  • Move the receiver from directly behind the TV to a side-facing HDMI port or a position with clearer line of sight.
  • Reduce the distance temporarily and retest before relocating the source permanently.
  • Check that the receiver’s power connection is not loose.
  • Test the same source in a different room position to determine whether furniture or the television is shielding the path.

Hardy’s obstruction test is the clearest documented example: the drops occurred when the television blocked the path and improved after the components gained line of sight.

Black screen with 4K content

First remember that AVC024 is a 1080p product. If a source or application is trying to send a 4K signal, set the output to a supported 1080p mode and consult Belkin’s support resource for “How To Fix a Black Screen or HDCP Error When Playing 4K Content (AVC024).” The support index also provides the user guide and setup documentation.

Audio is missing

Verify that the source is routing audio to the external display and that the display is not muted. Siew reported streamed audio during his test, so audio can work when the source, receiver and display negotiate the connection correctly.

Verdict: who should buy the AVC024?

Buy ConnectAir if your source has verified DisplayPort Alt Mode, your display has HDMI, and your priority is a clean, cable-free 1080p connection for presentations, teaching or relaxed viewing. Its direct setup is genuinely simple, and the independent tests show that it can deliver smooth video when placement is favorable.

Skip it for a 4K requirement, a receiver that must be hidden behind the screen, or a latency-sensitive setup where a cable is practical. The product’s value depends less on its headline 40-metre range than on whether you can give both ends a reasonably clear path and provide reliable receiver power.

Is ConnectAir suitable for gaming?

It can handle ordinary 1080p viewing, but Belkin’s below-80ms latency claim varies with the laptop and monitor. Competitive players and other timing-sensitive users should prefer a wired connection when practical.

What does the package cost and what warranty is listed?

Belkin’s US page listed $149.99 and a two-year warranty when checked. Local prices, stock and terms can differ, and the Japanese launch announcement identified Japanese retailers and Amazon.co.jp from April 28, 2026.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Belkin ConnectAir AVC024 is an easy, direct way to put compatible USB-C video on an HDMI screen without a long cable, network login or driver. Buy it for convenient 1080p/60Hz presentations, teaching and casual viewing when you can keep the receiver powered and reasonably unobstructed. Do not buy it expecting 4K, guaranteed operation behind a television or wired-level latency.
