Beefeater’s BS19242 is the Signature 3000E, a four-burner mobile barbecue with a cart, hood and manufacturer-described anti-flare vaporizer system. It is not the built-in Signature BS19942 and not the separate 3000S line. The documented feature set is substantial, but the accessible independent listing does not publish its cooking-performance, reliability or running-cost results, so this review focuses on what is verified and what you should confirm before buying.
The sensible buying decision is to treat the BS19242 as a large, heavy appliance whose dimensions need checking against the latest manual and the retailer’s measurement convention. If you need a mobile four-burner unit and value a roasting hood, cast-iron cooking surfaces and a manufacturer-supported accessory range, it is a plausible fit. If you need a built-in installation, a current street-price comparison or independently verified heat-distribution results, the available evidence is not enough to make those claims.

What the BS19242 actually is
Model code BS19242 identifies Beefeater’s Signature 3000E four-burner mobile barbecue. “Mobile” means the cooking body is mounted on a cart rather than designed to be dropped into a permanent outdoor kitchen bench. That distinction affects dimensions, installation planning and the way you compare it with other grills.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTwo similarly named products should not be substituted for it. Signature model BS19942 is the built-in version, while the 3000S is a separate line. A built-in body and a cart-mounted appliance do not share interchangeable cut-out dimensions or installation assumptions.

The strongest public product identification comes from Beefeater’s specification material and an Australian CHOICE listing. The CHOICE page calls it a four-burner barbecue with a cast-iron hotplate/grill and cast-iron burners. Its performance, reliability, satisfaction and five-year running-cost results are behind CHOICE membership access; those results cannot be responsibly reconstructed from the public page.

The dimensions are not interchangeable numbers to average. The brochure gives one overall height and width, the model sheet separates closed- and open-lid height, and CHOICE rounds measurements in centimetres. Because the brochure explicitly says its figures are product dimensions only, the cart, handles, lid position and measurement method may account for some of the difference. Use the latest model manual or a retailer’s confirmed drawing before committing to a paved area, doorway or outdoor-kitchen position.
Features: what is documented and what is not
Quartz-start ignition
Beefeater lists an integrated quartz-start ignition, while CHOICE’s public description calls the system a flame-thrower ignition. Both descriptions indicate that ignition is built into the barbecue rather than requiring a separate lighter. The sources do not provide a component-life test, ignition success rate or failure procedure, so those are practical questions to settle from the current manual and warranty terms.

Convection roasting hood and viewing window
The hood is described as an integrated convection roasting hood and includes a window. A hood allows the barbecue to be used for covered roasting as well as open grilling, but the feature description alone is not evidence of a particular temperature uniformity, recovery time or roasting result. No independent cooking-performance figures are publicly available in the accessible CHOICE material.

Vaporizer grid, reflector and anti-flare claim
The official specification wording is “Vaporizer Grid & Reflector System With Anti-Flare Technology.” The vaporizer grid and reflector are part of the manufacturer’s flame-management design. “Anti-flare” is a vendor feature claim, not an independently published finding that flare-ups are eliminated under every food, fat or temperature condition. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing it with another four-burner barbecue.
Cast-iron cooking parts
The specification describes a durable, rust-resistant cast-iron cooktop. CHOICE additionally lists a cast-iron hotplate/grill and cast-iron burners. Cast iron is a substantial material choice, but the available sources do not establish how quickly this model heats, how evenly it holds temperature or how its finish performs over time. Those outcomes depend on design, use and maintenance and should not be inferred from the material name alone.
Flame diffusers
CHOICE identifies the flame diffusers as aluminised steel. These parts sit between burners and food-facing surfaces in the heat-management path. The listing supplies the material description but no replacement interval, corrosion test or spare-part price.
Cooking capacity and burner power
The CHOICE listing reports a total cooking area of 0.31 m², paired with four burners. That is the most useful public capacity figure for comparing the BS19242 with another barbecue, provided both products measure their cooking surface in the same way. A larger nominal area does not by itself establish better heat distribution, and the public sources do not publish a burner-by-burner layout, control arrangement or independent zone-temperature test.

Beefeater’s December 2020 brochure gives total burner power as 76 MJ/hr. This is a specification figure, not a promise that food will cook at a particular speed. Fuel connection, regulator requirements and local gas rules should be checked against the current model manual rather than inferred from the headline power number.
Planning space: resolve the dimension conflict before delivery
There are three published dimension sets, and they do not match exactly. The brochure reports 1,230 mm high, 1,486 mm wide and 587 mm deep as product dimensions. The model sheet reports 1,420 mm width, 1,188 mm closed-lid height, 1,378 mm lid-open height and 570 mm depth. CHOICE rounds its listing to 123 × 145 × 58 cm.
These differences may reflect document revisions, rounding or whether a measurement includes cart components, but the available documents do not explain the discrepancy. Do not design an alcove around the smallest number. Ask the seller for a current dimensional drawing and confirm:
- overall width including the cart and any handles;
- depth with the lid closed;
- height with the lid closed and fully open;
- doorway, gate and stair access for a 113 kg appliance;
- room to open the hood and move the cart safely; and
- the location and length of the approved gas connection.
The lid-open height matters particularly for an overhead pergola or bench. A unit that fits with the lid shut may not be usable if the hood strikes a beam when raised.

Build, warranty and ownership considerations
The published construction combines a cast-iron cooking system with aluminised-steel flame diffusers and a rust-resistant cast-iron cooktop claim. The brochure’s 113 kg weight signals that this is not a lightweight, frequently relocated grill. Plan its final position before delivery, and make sure the surface is stable enough for a heavy cart.
CHOICE’s public listing shows a five-year warranty period for the barbecue frame. It shows two years for the cooking surface, burners, hose regulator, auto lighter and rock trays. Those periods are tied to the listing available in October 2026; warranty wording, exclusions and regional terms can change, so obtain the current Beefeater warranty document and retain proof of purchase.
The same CHOICE page displayed A$2,199 when accessed in October 2026. That is a dated page snapshot, not a guaranteed current selling price, promotion or delivered total. Delivery, assembly, gas fittings and accessories may be treated separately by a retailer. A proper ownership budget should therefore use a current written quote rather than this historical listing value.

Compatibility is not the same as current stock. Confirm that the accessory is available in your region, that the product code has not been superseded and that the cover fits the exact cart configuration you receive. A generic four-burner cover may be too short, too narrow or unable to accommodate the hood shape.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Installation and safety: mobile is not built-in
A Beefeater Signature manual from 2018 includes a 450 mm minimum combustible-material clearance in a built-in grill specification table. Those figures are explicitly for built-in installations. They must not be reused as clearance instructions for the BS19242 mobile cart.
For the mobile model, use the supplied or current BS19242 manual for clearances, ventilation, gas connection, regulator specification and operating instructions, and follow local requirements. Do not assume that a clearance printed for BS19942 or another built-in configuration applies to this cart. If the current manual and a retailer’s dimensions disagree, pause the installation and obtain written clarification before connecting fuel.

A fair comparison requires like-for-like measurements and the same installation category. Use this checklist rather than comparing a headline burner count alone.
| Comparison point | Question to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Appliance type | Is it a mobile/cart barbecue or a built-in grill? | Cut-outs, clearances, access and dimensions are not interchangeable. |
| Dimensions | Are width and depth measured with the cart, handles and lid in a stated position? | Different conventions can make two apparently similar products physically incompatible. |
| Open-lid height | What is the height with the hood fully raised? | Overhead structures can block safe use even when closed-lid height fits. |
| Cooking area | Is the stated area the usable grate, hotplate, or a combined figure? | Nominal square metres are meaningful only when the measurement basis matches. |
| Burner power and connection | What total power, fuel, regulator and local connection requirements are specified? | Power figures and installation obligations affect running and setup decisions. |
| Materials | What are the cooking surface, burners and flame diffusers made from? | Material descriptions help identify construction, but do not prove performance or lifespan. |
| Ignition and hood | Is ignition integrated, and does the hood provide a window or roasting function? | These are convenience and cooking-mode differences worth checking directly. |
| Warranty | Which parts receive coverage, and for how long? | A long frame warranty may not apply to burners, surfaces or ignition parts. |
| Accessories | Are covers and cooking tools confirmed for the exact model? | Fit and availability can differ even within one product family. |
The available material does not establish a current competitor shortlist or comparative test winner. Any claim that the BS19242 cooks faster, more evenly or with fewer flare-ups than a named alternative would go beyond the published evidence.
Who is the BS19242 suited to?
It makes sense when you need:
- a four-burner barbecue on a mobile cart rather than a built-in appliance;
- a hooded cooking mode with a viewing window;
- cast-iron cooking components and a manufacturer-described vaporizer/reflector system;
- a documented compatible cover and optional poultry-roasting and cleaning tools; and
- a product for which frame and component warranty periods are clearly separated.
Pause before buying when you need:
- verified independent heat-distribution or flare-up results;
- a guaranteed current price or five-year running-cost estimate;
- built-in installation dimensions or clearance instructions;
- a lightweight barbecue that can be moved regularly; or
- certainty that a particular accessory is currently stocked in your market.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Confirm that the carton and invoice identify BS19242 Signature 3000E, not BS19942 or a 3000S model.
- Request the latest dimensional drawing, including cart width, closed- and open-lid height, depth and any protruding handles.
- Measure the route from delivery point to the final location and account for the appliance’s published 113 kg weight.
- Check the current manual for fuel connection, regulator, ventilation and mobile-appliance clearances that apply to this exact model.
- Ask the retailer to state what is included in the quoted price: barbecue, cart, regulator, hose, assembly, delivery and cover.
- Obtain the current warranty document and verify coverage for the frame, cooking surfaces, burners, ignition and other listed components.
- Confirm availability and fit of cover BS94464 before ordering; check the BD94945, BD94941 and BD94969 accessory codes if required.
- Keep the purchase record and model plate details for any warranty or replacement-part request.
Bottom line
The BS19242 is best understood as a substantial, four-burner Signature 3000E mobile barbecue with a hood, integrated ignition, cast-iron cooking hardware and a manufacturer-described anti-flare vaporizer/reflector system. Its identity and core specifications are clear, but published dimensions conflict and the strongest independent CHOICE results are member-only. Verify the latest measurements, installation instructions, warranty and delivered price before committing space or money.
