Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

At $349.99 in the US on Beats’ product page, it makes the most sense if you want one pair for the gym, commuting and travel. Its noise cancellation can tame steady background hum, but reviewers say voices and sharper sounds remain audible, and Bose and Sony have stronger options for buyers who put ANC first.
Is Beats 360 good for working out?
Beats lists Beats 360 for running and working out, and its IPX4 rating means it is designed to resist sweat and water splashing from any direction. That is not waterproofing: the rating does not mean the headphones can be immersed or worn for swimming. The rating, removable cushions and adjustable fit give the 360 a more workout-oriented design than most over-ear ANC headphones, though fit and comfort will still depend on the listener. The headphones ship with color-matched Performance Knit cushions. Beats describes them as breathable, and SoundGuys’ reviewer found them more comfortable and better at handling moisture than the alternative UltraPlush cushions during a 12-day review. Physical controls are another practical feature noted by Tom’s Guide. Neither the IPX4 rating nor a reviewer’s wear impressions establish how the headphones will hold up to every workout or long-term use.

Which Beats 360 cushions should you use?
| Cushion | What it is best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Knit | Breathability and workouts. It is the supplied cushion, and SoundGuys found it more comfortable and better at moisture handling. | SoundGuys found its seal less tight than UltraPlush, which can mean less effective noise isolation. |
| UltraPlush | A tighter seal and stronger ANC, according to SoundGuys’ review. | The tighter fit and ANC pressure may be uncomfortable for some listeners; it is less workout-oriented than the more breathable knit. |
The interchangeable design lets you choose between these priorities rather than treating cushion material as a cosmetic detail. Beats 360 Cushion Kits are sold separately; check the Beats product page for current accessory details.

How good is Beats 360 noise cancellation?
Beats claims up to 1.75 times more total noise cancellation than the Beats Studio Pro. That is a manufacturer comparison, not an independently verified finding that the 360 outperforms every headphone in every setting. Tom’s Guide describes the ANC as strong against gym noise, but says some Bose and Sony models remain better for noise cancellation overall. No controlled cross-model ANC measurements were available in the cited reviews. Tom’s Guide review; Beats specifications.
Steady noise versus voices and sharp sounds
SoundGuys reports that the 360 can reduce steady sounds such as air conditioning or cabin hum, but does less well with voices and higher-frequency noise, including surf. That distinction matters in a gym: a consistent fan or ventilation rumble may recede while nearby conversation and abrupt clatter still cut through. These are reviewer impressions, not completed comparative lab measurements; SoundGuys said its lab ANC measurements were still in progress when its review was accessed. SoundGuys review.

How do Beats 360 sound, and what changes between modes?
SoundGuys reports that the sound profile changes noticeably with listening mode. With ANC or Transparency active, bass can crowd quieter details in a mix. When both modes are off, Adaptive EQ is active, according to the review. If you are sensitive to bass masking or ANC pressure, try the modes and both cushion types before deciding whether the fit and sound suit you.

Beats lists USB-C as the charging port. SoundGuys says the port is for charging only and reports no 3.5 mm jack or USB audio input. Tom’s Guide’s page contains conflicting USB-C input and lossless-audio claims, so buyers who require a wired listening connection should not assume the 360 supports one; Beats’ own specification identifies USB-C as a charging port. The product page lists Bluetooth 5.3. SoundGuys review; Beats specifications.
Beats 360 compared with the alternatives
| If your priority is… | Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sweat resistance and cushion choice | Beats 360 | Its IPX4 rating and interchangeable Performance Knit and UltraPlush cushions are unusual strengths for an over-ear ANC model. Listed at $349.99 US on Beats’ page at access time. Beats. |
| Wired listening within Beats’ lineup | Beats Studio Pro | It is a relevant alternative if wired inputs matter; Beats’ 360 product information lists USB-C as charging only, and SoundGuys reports no wired audio input. Confirm the specific Studio Pro connection you need before buying. Beats 360 specifications; SoundGuys review. |
| Noise cancellation above workout-specific design | Bose or Sony alternatives | Tom’s Guide says Bose and Sony remain stronger for some ANC use cases. The cited sources do not provide controlled cross-model measurements or a specific model-by-model comparison. Tom’s Guide review. |
The 360 also lists Apple and Android support, Apple Find My and Android Find Hub features. Apple executive Oliver Schusser told TechRadar the design was meant to serve “a different purpose,” framing the model as distinct from a conventional travel-first over-ear headphone. Who should buy Beats 360?
Choose Beats 360 if you value an over-ear fit, sweat-and-splash resistance, replaceable cushion options and useful ANC for steady background noise in one headphone. Look elsewhere if your priority is the strongest available ANC, wired playback, or a fit that avoids the pressure some listeners may feel from a tight seal.
