Beats 360 are built to move between workouts and everyday listening: they’re over-ear headphones with an IPX4 sweat- and water-resistance rating, active noise cancellation, Transparency mode and removable, interchangeable cushions. The key trade-off is that customization means changing cushions—not changing the headphones’ fit system or sound profile—and the feature set omits wear detection, according to Tom’s Guide.
What makes the Beats 360 customizable?
The earcup and headband cushions detach and can be swapped. Beats says additional Cushion Kits are available in different colors and materials, so you can refresh the look or replace worn cushions. The kits are separate accessories; confirm their current price and availability before buying.

This is a cosmetic and cushion-replacement option, not a modular redesign of the headphones. The documented feature is interchangeable cushioning; it does not establish that swapping cushions changes the fit system or sound profile.

Beats lists an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance. That rating indicates resistance, not waterproofing, so it should not be read as protection for submersion. The rating supports workout use, but it does not by itself establish how securely the headphones stay in place or how comfortable they feel during a run.

Tom’s Guide published a hands-on running article, which offers a reviewer’s real-world perspective rather than a guarantee for every runner. Fit and comfort are personal, and over-ear headphones may feel different in motion than earbuds. If running is your main use, consider the review’s experience alongside your own preference for an over-ear fit.
How do the controls and listening modes work?
The physical controls are split between the earcups: the right side has a volume rocker and play/pause button; the left has power and listening-mode buttons. Beats lists Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ and Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking.

ANC is intended to reduce outside sound, while Transparency mode lets more of the surroundings through. Apple Support says Off mode is not enabled by default. To make it available, turn it on in the settings for the headphones on an Apple device, or in the Beats app on Android. The headphones charge over USB-C.

Battery life, sound and everyday trade-offs
Beats specifies up to 32 hours of listening time with ANC and Personalized Spatial Audio enabled. This is the manufacturer’s figure, not an independent battery-test result; actual runtime can vary with settings and use.

- INCREDIBLE SOUND: Custom acoustic platform delivers rich, balanced audio for music, calls and everyday listening.
- LOSSLESS AUDIO SUPPORT: USB-C lossless audio and sound profiles optimize music quality across devices and environments. Additional option to use the 3.5 mm cable for a standard analog experience.
- ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING (ANC): block distractions at work, on flights or during your daily commute. Or use Transparency mode to let the sounds of your environment mix in with your music.
- SEAMLESS WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY: One-touch pairing with Apple & Android for easy switching across devices.
- SPATIAL AUDIO IMMERSION: Personalized dynamic head tracking, 360-degree sound for movies, music and immersive everyday listening.
Tom’s Guide flags the lack of wear detection, so the headphones do not offer that convenience feature. SoundGuys describes the Beats 360 as not aimed at audiophiles; that is the publication’s assessment, not a measured finding presented here. Treat claims about sound, comfort and ANC performance as reviewer judgments rather than guarantees. - YOUR HEART RATE, RIGHT FROM YOUR EARS: Built-in sensors pulse 100+ times per second for real-time heart rate tracking without a chest strap or watch. Train smarter and keep your hands free. IPX4 rated for sweat and water resistance.
- 45 HOURS. ENOUGH FOR THE WHOLE WEEK: Powered by the Apple H2 chip, Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers up to 45 hours of total listening time with the charging case — the first wireless Qi-charging case from Beats. Running low? Fast Fuel means a 5-minute charge gives you 1.5 hours of playback.
- WORKS SEAMLESSLY WITH APPLE AND ANDROID: One-touch pairing, automatic device switching, and hands-free Siri on Apple. Full feature access including Heart Rate Monitoring, customizable controls, and battery widgets on Android via the Beats app for Android.
The Beats 360 make the most sense if you want over-ear headphones that can serve workouts as well as day-to-day listening, value interchangeable cushions, and expect to use ANC or Transparency mode. They are a less obvious fit if wear detection is essential, you need waterproofing, or you are choosing primarily for an audiophile-oriented sound presentation. For regular runners, the IPX4 rating is relevant, but personal fit and the reviewer’s running experience matter too.
