Use a patient parry-and-counter approach: the available walkthrough identifies the final boss as Minamoto no Yoshitsune and describes a three-phase fight, but that encounter detail comes from a third-party guide, not an official boss breakdown. The guide’s route is to parry through the ground duel until a stamina-break opening appears, evade the reported aerial attacks, then use Oni Awakening and watch for the real enemy in the final phase.
Spoilers: This walkthrough discusses the reported final boss and late-fight attacks.

Who is the final boss?
Onimusha Strats names Minamoto no Yoshitsune as the final boss and places the encounter at the end of “The Clash At Rendaino.” It describes three phases. Capcom and PlayStation’s official pages reviewed for this article do not independently confirm the boss’s identity, mission name, phase structure, or move set, so treat those details as guide-reported rather than established official information.

Phase 1: Parry the ground duel
The guide describes close-range sword strings. Hold a defensive posture, watch the sequence, and parry rather than rushing in with repeated attacks. According to the guide, successive perfect parries drain Yoshitsune’s stamina and create an opening for Break Issen.

The underlying mechanic is supported by Capcom director Satoru Nihei: in a PlayStation Blog interview, he explained that Break Issen becomes available after completely depleting an enemy’s stamina gauge. That confirms the general mechanic, not the precise number of parries or the reported boss-specific pattern. Read the interview with Nihei.
When the opening appears, use the counter instead of continuing to attack into the boss’s defense. Capcom’s June announcement also describes parrying, deflecting, and Issen as part of the combat system. Capcom’s game announcement provides that broader context.

Phase 2: Evade the reported aerial sequence
The walkthrough says Yoshitsune takes to the air, fires tracking projectile volleys, teleports, and then makes a downward strike. These attacks and their timing are not corroborated by the official pages reviewed here. If following the guide:

- Keep enough distance and attention to react after the teleport.
- Look for recovery after the reported landing, then punish briefly instead of extending your attack into the next sequence.
Phase 3: Handle waves and illusions
The guide describes broad energy waves and illusion copies. It recommends jumping over the wave and identifying the real enemy before attacking; swinging at a copy risks wasting the brief opportunity to deal damage. It also advises activating Oni Awakening at the start of this phase.

Oni Awakening is a game feature described in official material, but using it at this particular point is the guide’s boss-specific recommendation, not an official instruction. Treat the timing as a suggested approach, not a guaranteed requirement.
What the official material does—and does not—confirm
Official descriptions establish relevant combat tools, including parrying, deflecting, Issen, stamina-based Break Issen, and Oni Awakening. They do not verify the final encounter’s identity or the three-phase attack sequence described above. Nihei said the newer Issen system lets players experience the attacks across a wider variety of combat scenarios than the series’ traditionally strict frame-perfect timing; that is general design context, not a promise about this boss’s exact parry window.
