Puppet Fang is Koo’s Skill Amber reward for defeating the two elite enemies in the eastern crater near Crater Complex A in the Chapter 8 Crater Zone. From the Ruined Highway campsite, go northeast to the Crater Complex A campsite, then move east into the crater basin and defeat the paired elites. The reward is tied to that victory, not to a chest. Koo uses Puppet Fang automatically, and its broad effect is an attack that can turn affected foes into puppets.
Puppet Fang location at a glance
| Detail | Answer |
|---|---|
| Region | Crater Zone, identified by walkthroughs as Chapter 8 |
| Landmark | Crater Complex A campsite |
| Direction from the campsite | East, into the crater center |

| Reward | Skill Amber: Puppet Fang |
| Character | Koo |
| Reward container | The elite-fight reward, rather than a chest pickup |
The dependable identifiers are the eastern crater, the Crater Complex A landmark and the two-enemy elite battle. Enemy labels vary between guides, so use the location and encounter shape rather than a single name.

How to reach the eastern crater
- Progress to the Crater Zone. Guides place this area in Chapter 8. Puppet Fang is not associated with an earlier Crater Zone visit.
- Use the Ruined Highway campsite as your reference point. The Crater Complex A campsite is northeast of it.
- Find Crater Complex A. Once you reach that campsite, treat it as the main navigation landmark for the Skill Amber encounter.
- Travel east from the campsite. The relevant fight is in the crater east of Crater Complex A, with the enemies positioned in the crater center.
- Enter the basin and defeat both elites. Puppet Fang is awarded for clearing the paired encounter, not for defeating only one member of it.
- Confirm the Koo reward. After the victory, check Koo’s Skill Amber entries for Puppet Fang.
The campsite-to-crater relationship is more useful than trying to identify the fight from enemy terminology alone. If you are standing at Crater Complex A and find the paired elites in the eastern crater basin, you are at the correct encounter.
Which enemies drop Puppet Fang?
The same pair is described with different names in published walkthroughs. You may see them called Elite Malefacts, Lupine Malefacts or wolf-type elites. That variation does not indicate separate rewards. The reliable match is a two-enemy elite fight in the eastern crater by Crater Complex A.

Do not leave the area after finding a similarly sized fight in the western crater. That neighboring encounter has a different reward set. The crater’s position relative to Crater Complex A is the quickest way to distinguish the two.
What you receive after the fight
Skill Amber: Puppet Fang
The reward is Skill Amber: Puppet Fang, and it belongs to Koo. Guides describe it as an automatic Koo attack rather than an item you pick up from a chest or activate through a separate manual-use prompt.
The broad effect is a puppet attack: affected foes can be turned into puppets, with one reference describing them as puppet allies after the effect takes hold. That wording explains the skill’s purpose without promising that every target will be converted.
What the available descriptions do not establish
The published descriptions do not provide a dependable activation percentage, effect duration, damage value or complete list of enemy restrictions. They also do not establish that the effect is guaranteed against every enemy type. Treat “can make foes puppets” as the supported behavior; do not plan a build around an unverified proc rate or fixed duration.

Those limits matter if you are comparing Puppet Fang with other Skill Ambers. The location and reward are clear, but the detailed combat math is not documented in the available references.
Eastern and western crater rewards compared
The two nearby crater fights are easy to confuse because both involve elite enemies. Use this comparison before moving on:
| Crater encounter | Landmark relationship | Reported Skill Amber rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern crater | East of the Crater Complex A campsite, in the crater center | Puppet Fang |
| Western crater | The neighboring western crater encounter | Entangled Fang and Final Fang |
If the fight awarded Entangled Fang or Final Fang, you completed the western encounter instead. That result does not mean Puppet Fang failed to drop; it means you need to locate the separate eastern crater pair.
Preparing for the elite pair
The sources identify the encounter and reward but do not document a special elemental weakness, required level or scripted tactic. Prepare with the same fundamentals you use for other elite fights in the Crater Zone:
Rank #3
- COMPANION COMBAT — Fight as Emma while commanding Koo, the blighted dog, to unleash powerful techniques, creating a unique action RPG battle system built around teamwork and strategy.
- POST APOCALYPTIC JAPAN — Explore the haunting beauty of Japan in the year 4026, where flourishing forests emerge from a blighted wasteland filled with danger, mystery, and discovery.
- CUSTOMIZE YOUR PLAYSTYLE — Shape Emma’s abilities through skill trees, gear, and spirit stones, allowing you to specialize in ranged, stealth, aggressive, or hybrid combat approaches.
- EPIC BOSS HUNTS — Battle formidable Bosses from across the world, capture their powers, and grow stronger on a journey to confront the legendary Beast of Reincarnation.
- Enter with your preferred healing and recovery options available.
- Make sure Koo is part of the active setup if you want to observe the Skill Amber’s automatic attack during or after the fight.
- Keep the two enemies in view so you can confirm that both have been defeated.
- Avoid assuming that a single visible target represents the whole encounter; the reward is tied to the paired elite battle.
- After the victory, pause long enough for the reward notification or inventory update before leaving the crater.
These are practical safeguards, not documented Puppet Fang requirements. No source establishes that a particular weapon, difficulty setting or consumable is mandatory.
How to verify that you found the correct fight
Use the following checklist if the reward is unclear:
- You are in the Chapter 8 Crater Zone.
- You used Ruined Highway as a reference and reached Crater Complex A to its northeast.
- You moved east from the Crater Complex A campsite.
- The enemies were a pair of elites in the crater basin.
- The completed encounter was not the western crater pair that awards Entangled Fang and Final Fang.
- Koo’s Skill Amber list now includes Puppet Fang.
Enemy names can differ between your game text and a guide, but the geography and paired encounter should still line up. If the location matches and both elites are down, the reward should be Puppet Fang according to the walkthrough descriptions.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
Searching for a chest
Puppet Fang is described as the reward for defeating the elite pair. It is not presented as a chest item, so searching the crater walls for a hidden container can send you in the wrong direction. Focus on clearing the enemies and confirming the Skill Amber reward.

Stopping at the wrong crater
The western crater is the most important source of confusion because it has its own Skill Amber rewards. If you received Entangled Fang or Final Fang, retrace your route to Crater Complex A and look east for the other crater.
Rejecting the encounter because the names differ
One guide may call the enemies Elite Malefacts, another Lupine Malefacts and another wolf-type elites. Those labels are inconsistent, while the eastern-crater location and two-enemy format are consistent. Match the landmark first.
Expecting a manual activation button
The references describe Koo as using Puppet Fang automatically. Look for the effect during Koo’s normal participation rather than expecting a separate item-use command.

The documented effect is that the attack can make affected foes puppets. Since no reliable proc rate, duration or immunity list is supplied, a failed conversion on a particular target does not by itself prove that the Skill Amber is missing or broken.

What Puppet Fang means for Koo’s setup
Puppet Fang expands Koo’s Skill Amber options with a control-oriented attack: instead of only dealing damage, it may convert an affected foe into a puppet ally. That gives the reward a distinct role, but the available descriptions do not provide enough numerical information to rank it against other Koo ambers.
Because the skill is reported as automatic, your main decision is whether to keep the Skill Amber available for Koo rather than how to time individual casts. The exact trigger conditions and target rules remain undocumented in the references, so evaluate it in play without treating an unverified activation rate as fact.
Why the location descriptions agree despite terminology differences
Several walkthroughs converge on the same physical route: the Crater Zone in Chapter 8, Crater Complex A as the nearby campsite, an eastern crater and a paired elite encounter. Their naming differences concern the enemies, not the reward’s location. This makes the campsite-and-direction route the safest way to navigate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe most precise landmark chain is:
- Ruined Highway campsite
- Northeast to Crater Complex A campsite
- East into the crater center
- Two elite enemies
- Puppet Fang for Koo
Following that chain prevents the two common errors: fighting the western crater pair and searching for a chest instead of completing the elite battle.
Quick route summary
Reach the Chapter 8 Crater Zone, use the Ruined Highway campsite as your starting reference, and go northeast to Crater Complex A. From that campsite, head east into the crater basin. Defeat the two elite enemies there, then confirm the automatic reward of Koo’s Puppet Fang Skill Amber. If you received Entangled Fang or Final Fang, you cleared the western crater and need to return to the eastern one.
