Pure Loop 3 280mm is a straightforward, unlit AIO aimed at builders who want a 280mm radiator and quieter-looking, cable-conscious hardware without stepping up to a flagship cooler. Its appeal depends first on whether your case can fit the 317 × 140 × 52 mm radiator-and-fan assembly, then on your CPU and price expectations. An independent review recommends it for mid-range gaming builds, but its accessible text does not publish readable benchmark results, so the evidence supports a measured buying assessment—not a numerical cooling-performance verdict.
What the Pure Loop 3 280mm is
be quiet! sells this 280mm all-in-one liquid CPU cooler as article BW028EU in Europe and BW028US in the US. It comes with two Pure Wings 3 140mm PWM high-speed fans, a 6-pole pump, a copper base and an aluminum radiator. The design has no lighting connector, so it is a better match for builders who prefer an unlit appearance than for anyone seeking addressable RGB.

The manufacturer lists a refill port and flexible sleeved tubes. The port is a design feature, not evidence that routine refilling is required; the product information cited here does not establish a recommended fluid or refill schedule. The listed tube length is 400 mm.
Check case clearance before buying
The key physical figure is the total radiator-and-fan assembly: 317 × 140 × 52 mm. The radiator alone is 317 × 140 × 27 mm, so planning around the radiator thickness alone can underestimate the space needed. Compare the full assembly dimensions with the mounting position and clearances in your case manual.
#1 Best Overall
- Impressively high cooling performance for all consumer CPUs
- State-of-the-art PWM pump with 6-pole motor reduces vibrations to an absolute minimum
- 2 Pure Wings 3 140mm PWM high-speed fan offer high static pressure with very quiet operation
- Daisy-chained PWM fans for maximum convenience
- Flexible sleeved tubes and a simple mounting ensure easy handling
A nominal 280mm radiator fit does not guarantee clearance in every build. Motherboard heatsinks, memory, nearby components and the intended tube route can affect installation. Use be quiet!’s CPU Cooler Check and verify the case layout independently before ordering.
Supported CPU sockets
| Platform | Manufacturer-listed sockets |
|---|---|
| Intel | LGA 1851, 1700, 1200, 1151, 1150 and 1155 |
| AMD | AM5 and AM4 |
These are the sockets listed on be quiet!’s product pages; socket support is not a substitute for checking the cooler’s physical fit in your specific case.

- With Pure Loop 3 360mm even the most demanding applications can be used reliably. An immense cooling power provides low temperatures even during periods of peak CPU performance
- A powerful PWM pump ensures the very high-performance of Pure Loop 3 360mm and is whisper-quiet at the same time. The 6-pole 3-phase motor provides a smooth and consequently silent operation, whether at high or low rpm
- 3 Pure Wings 3 120mm PWM high-speed fans provide high air pressure to efficiently cool the liquid of the Pure Loop 3 360mm radiator. The fans also come with a “closed loop motor” function. This feature always keeps a steady fan speed, no matter the resistance – ideal for radiators. Despite their performance, Pure Wings 3 offer very quiet operation. Even at maximum speed, the fans operate at only 30,9dB(A). A specially designed, funnel shaped air outlet is more than just the icing on the cake: it maximizes the airflow over the fins
- If you want to connect more fans than your system has headers for, you are in for a problem. A water-cooling system with a pump and 3 fans on top of the case fans can hit the maximum available on a motherboard easily. The daisy chain function of Pure Loop 3 360mm allows all fans to be connected in series. We provide fewer and shorter cables to help you achieve a cleaner look
- Who says water coolers are harder to maintain? We most certainly do not! Pure Loop 3 360mm features flexible tubes, so installing it becomes a breeze. The refill port is easily accessible, making refilling this AiO an easy task, if and when it is required
What the specifications say about noise and wiring
be quiet! specifies a pump speed range of 3,000–5,500 RPM and fan speed of up to 1,800 RPM. Its published noise figures are 16.5 dB(A) at 50% RPM, 28.5 dB(A) at 75% and 36.6 dB(A) at 100%. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or a guarantee of how loud the cooler will seem in a particular system; case acoustics, fan curves and other components affect perceived noise.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe included fans support daisy-chaining. The manufacturer says, “The daisy chain function of Pure Loop 3 280mm allows all fans to be connected in series.” In practical terms, the fans can be linked together to reduce the number of cables routed to motherboard fan headers.

What the independent review establishes
Modders Inc reviewer Dewayne Carel published a review on September 28, 2026. Its described procedure used a sustained 220 W load, followed by a separate overclocked test at 5.1 GHz or higher with a 250 W limit. Each OCCT run lasted 30 minutes, and the reviewer compared subjective noise at 50%, 75% and 100% fan speed.
The review’s accessible text discusses charts but does not state numerical temperature or noise outcomes. Those results therefore cannot be reliably summarized here. The review characterizes the Pure Loop 3 as a value-tier option with simple, non-ARGB styling and daisy-chain fan wiring, and recommends it for a mid-range gaming build when a 280mm radiator fits. Its suggestion that buyers with high-TDP overclocked CPUs consider a larger Pure Loop 3 or Silent Loop 3 is the reviewer’s guidance, not a manufacturer wattage limit or a universal cutoff.

Suggested retail prices and a reviewer’s listed price do not establish what a retailer currently charges. Check current local listings and compare the final price with compatible 280mm AIOs and air coolers; the available review text does not provide enough comparable test data to declare a cooling-performance winner against them.
Who should consider it
- Consider it if your case clears the complete assembly, your CPU uses a listed socket, and you want an unlit 280mm AIO with linked fan wiring.
- Compare alternatives if a suitable air cooler or another 280mm AIO is cheaper, or if you want lighting. Make that comparison using current prices and tests performed under comparable conditions.
- Look beyond this model if you are planning a high-TDP overclocked build: the independent reviewer points those buyers toward a larger Pure Loop 3 variant or Silent Loop 3, but does not establish a hard power threshold.
be quiet! lists a three-year warranty. Before purchase, confirm the warranty terms that apply in your region as well as socket support, case clearance and current price.
