The Bauhn ATV40UHDW-0124 is a discontinued 40-inch 4K smart TV sold through Aldi. CHOICE reports a 61% Expert Rating for the model, but its public listing does not show the detailed test breakdown. That makes it difficult to judge its picture and sound from the score alone. If you already own one or are considering a used set, treat it as a low-cost option only when its condition, working features and price make sense—not as a TV with proven standout performance.

CHOICE’s Expert Rating for the ATV40UHDW-0124 was reported as 61% in a June 2024 The New Daily report. CHOICE’s public product listing keeps the detailed expert rating and component scores behind member access, so the overall percentage does not reveal how the television performed in individual picture, sound or usability tests.

CHOICE’s September 2025 article about Aldi Bauhn televisions provides broader brand context, not a test result for this exact model. CHOICE says the Bauhn televisions it tested generally received average results and none met its recommendation threshold. Its TV expert Denis Gallagher said, “So far we haven’t really seen a Bauhn TV that’s performed especially well.” That statement concerns Bauhn TVs generally and should not be read as a model-specific finding about the ATV40UHDW-0124. CHOICE’s buyer-advice article does not establish a particular weakness in this 40-inch set.
Should you buy one used?
There is no current new-stock recommendation to make: CHOICE lists this model as discontinued, and the $329 price reported for it is historical, not a current offer. For a used set, make the decision around the actual unit and asking price. Check that the screen has no cracks, pressure marks or persistent image defects, and test the remote, speakers, Wi-Fi, HDMI and USB inputs before paying. Because the public test details are unavailable, these checks cannot substitute for a verified performance breakdown.

- Ask for any remaining purchase documentation and clarify what support or warranty, if any, applies to a second-hand unit.
What to compare if you need a replacement
Do not choose a replacement on resolution or headline price alone. Compare independent picture and sound results, current price and availability, the streaming apps you use, input and audio connectivity, warranty and support, and whether a 40-inch screen suits the room. The available exact-model information does not publish the ATV40UHDW-0124’s individual picture, sound or interface scores, so a direct component-by-component comparison is not possible.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA later Bauhn model, the ATV40UHDW-0324, is a different television. Bauhn’s official page lists 4K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi, two USB ports, HDMI with ARC, optical and headphone outputs, a 200 × 200 mm VESA mounting pattern, and webOS TV for that model. Those specifications must not be assumed to apply to the ATV40UHDW-0124. Bauhn’s ATV40UHDW-0324 page provides the later model’s details; its manual describes a 12-month warranty and Australian Consumer Law rights, which likewise do not establish the wording for the -0124.
