Battlefield 6 vs Call of Duty: Which Game Levels Up Faster?

There is no official, controlled XP-per-hour test that proves one game is universally faster. The documented systems point to a conditional result: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is usually the more flexible choice for account-rank progression because Level XP comes from Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and Warzone. Battlefield 6 can feel faster for weapon and vehicle progression when you complete matches, use the hardware you want to level and take advantage of its Season 2 reward changes.

That distinction matters more than a single “faster game” verdict. Your mode, match length, performance, objective play, boosters and the current seasonal tuning can change the result. The comparison below uses the progression systems documented for Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6, rather than assuming that every Call of Duty release or every Battlefield patch works the same way.

What does “leveling faster” mean?

Players often use “level” to describe three different progress tracks. Separating them prevents a misleading comparison.

Account or career level

This is the visible player-rank ladder that unlocks weapons, equipment, scorestreaks, operators or other account-wide content. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 calls the currency for this track Level XP. Battlefield 6 separates career progression from hardware progression, so a career-level question is not automatically a weapon-level question.

Weapon and vehicle hardware

Hardware progression follows individual weapons and vehicles. A player can gain account levels quickly while barely advancing a particular rifle, tank or aircraft if the game rewards are not tied to the equipment being used. Conversely, a focused hardware session can make one item feel fast even when the overall account ladder moves slowly.

Unlocks, challenges and prestige

Unlocking an item, finishing a challenge or entering a Prestige is another milestone. It may require a level, a challenge condition or both. A game with more levels or more challenge content is not necessarily slower; it may simply offer a longer progression runway.

What the official documentation actually establishes

Neither publisher has released an apples-to-apples test that records the minutes or matches required to earn a fixed amount of progression in both games. Official pages describe eligible modes, progression ladders and reward changes, but they do not provide a controlled XP-per-hour benchmark under identical conditions.

Comparison point Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Battlefield 6
Account XP coverage Level XP is documented for Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and Call of Duty: Warzone. Career and hardware progression are available in Battlefield 6 multiplayer; verified Portal experiences grant the same progression categories as official modes.
Base account ladder Levels 1–55, according to Activision Support (2025). A comparable single 1–55 ladder is not stated in the cited EA material.
Prestige structure Ten Prestiges, followed by Prestige Master progression up to Level 1,000, according to Activision Support (2025). No equivalent prestige count or ceiling is stated in the cited EA material.
Hardware progression Individual weapon and equipment unlocks are part of the Level XP progression description. Career and hardware are explicit tracks; Season 2 added passive hardware XP and changed completion-related career XP.
Match-completion incentives The cited documentation confirms XP-earning modes but does not publish a universal per-match rate. EA says end-of-match career XP for completed matches increased in Season 2; REDSEC victory and time-played XP were also revised.
Published XP-per-hour comparison Not stated. No official controlled comparison was found.

The evidence supports a decision based on your target rather than a universal stopwatch ranking.

How Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 progression works

One Level XP pool across several modes

The official Black Ops 7 site states that players gain Level XP in Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and Warzone. Activision Support similarly describes gameplay across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone earning XP toward the progression ladder. Dead Ops Arcade 4 is explicitly listed by the official site even though it is omitted from the shorter support quotation.

This breadth is Call of Duty’s clearest speed advantage for players who change activities. If a lobby is taking too long, a player can move to another documented XP-earning mode without abandoning account progression altogether. The system does not make every mode equally fast; it means progress is not restricted to one playlist.

The documented 55-level base ladder

Activision’s 2025 support documentation places the base progression at Level 1 through Level 55. The same description ties that ladder to weapons, equipment, scorestreaks, operators and other unlocks. Reaching Level 55 is therefore one complete pass through the initial account progression, not the end of all progression.

Ten Prestiges and a Level 1,000 Prestige Master ceiling

After the base ladder, Black Ops 7 offers 10 Prestige cycles. Activision states that completing those cycles leads to Prestige Master progression, with advancement continuing as high as Level 1,000. Prestige changes the scale of the grind: a player comparing only the first few levels is measuring a different experience from someone trying to complete every Prestige.

Prestige also changes how you should interpret “fast.” A quick first climb to Level 55 does not mean the complete account journey is short, because the player can voluntarily repeat the ladder through 10 Prestiges and then continue toward Level 1,000.

Challenge volume is not a speed measurement

Activision lists more than 680 Calling Cards tied to challenges. That figure indicates a large amount of optional achievement content, but it does not establish how much Level XP any card grants or how long the full set takes. Treat the Calling Card count as a measure of available goals, not as evidence that Black Ops 7 awards XP faster or slower than Battlefield 6.

How Battlefield 6 progression works

Career progression and hardware progression are separate questions

EA’s Battlefield 6 progression information distinguishes career rewards from hardware rewards. Career XP advances the player’s broader progression, while hardware XP is associated with using weapons and vehicles. That structure makes Battlefield 6 particularly relevant to players whose priority is a specific loadout rather than the account level shown on the profile.

Official multiplayer and verified Portal experiences

EA says all multiplayer experiences and verified Portal experiences provide full progression XP, including progression for challenges, badges and accolades. Its FAQ explains that verified Community Experiences grant the same categories of experience players would earn in Battlefield 6’s official modes.

The word verified is important. Do not assume that every user-created Portal rule set awards progression in the same way. Choose experiences identified by the game as verified when you need reliable progression for career objectives, challenges, badges or accolades.

Season 2 changes favor completed play and hardware use

EA’s Season 2 update introduced passive hardware XP: using a weapon or vehicle during a Battlefield 6 or REDSEC match grants a small passive amount of hardware XP. EA also says end-of-match career XP for completed matches was increased. In REDSEC, victory XP and time-played XP were revised.

These changes do not supply a universal minutes-per-level figure, but they alter the practical incentives. Completing a match now matters more for the documented career reward, and simply spending time using the target hardware can contribute a small passive amount. The result can feel faster for a player who stays through the finish and consistently uses the item they want to develop.

Fastest practical route for account levels in Call of Duty

  1. Pick a documented XP-earning mode that suits your schedule. Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and Warzone all feed the Level XP system described by the official site. Use the mode in which you can play consistently rather than assuming one mode has a universally higher rate.
  2. Use mode switching to avoid dead time. Because the same Level XP goal spans several activities, change modes when queues, map rotations or group availability make one activity inefficient for you. The benefit is continuity of account progress, not a guaranteed increase in XP per minute.
  3. Separate account goals from hardware goals. If you need a specific weapon or piece of equipment, check whether the required unlock is tied to the Level 1–55 ladder or to a separate in-game requirement. Do not judge the account system by the time needed to complete one hardware challenge.
  4. Plan around the Prestige reset. Reaching Level 55 is only the first base pass. Before entering a Prestige, identify which unlocks you will need immediately after the reset and which goals can wait. This prevents a reset from interrupting a planned session.
  5. Track challenge objectives without treating them as an XP guarantee. Black Ops 7 has more than 680 Calling Cards tied to challenges, but the documented count does not state a fixed XP reward or completion time. Use challenges as optional targets and verify the reward shown in the current game client.
  6. Measure your own sessions if speed matters. Record starting and ending levels, active play time, mode, match completions and any booster or event in effect. A personal log is more meaningful than borrowing an undocumented number from a different season, platform or playlist.

Fastest practical route for weapons and vehicles in Battlefield 6

  1. Choose official multiplayer or a verified Portal experience. EA says these experiences provide full progression categories, including challenges, badges and accolades. Verification is the key distinction for community content.
  2. Equip the hardware you actually want to level. Hardware XP follows weapon and vehicle use. Changing equipment constantly may spread progress across several items instead of concentrating it on one target.
  3. Stay through the end of the match. EA says Season 2 increased end-of-match career XP for completed matches. Leaving early can forfeit the completion-related portion even if you earned some progress during play.
  4. Use the item during ordinary play rather than forcing unsafe actions. Season 2 added a small passive hardware-XP amount for using a weapon or vehicle during a Battlefield 6 or REDSEC match. The system rewards time spent using the hardware; it does not establish that reckless behavior is efficient.
  5. Play for the stated REDSEC rewards when that mode is your choice. EA revised victory and time-played XP in REDSEC. The exact value can depend on the current tuning, so check the live reward display instead of relying on an old guide.
  6. Use completion, challenge and accolade goals together. Battlefield 6’s full-progression experiences can advance more than hardware. Select objectives that match your target equipment so one completed match contributes to career progress and relevant challenge tracks.

Why two players can report opposite results

Match length and downtime

XP per match is not the same as XP per hour. A long match with a large completion reward may outperform a short match on a per-session basis, while queues, loading screens and lobby time reduce the hourly result. Neither publisher’s cited documentation normalizes those factors.

Performance and objective participation

Personal performance changes how much useful activity occurs during a session. Objective play, eliminations, assists, support actions, survival time and successful vehicle use can all alter the practical rhythm of a match, but the supplied official material does not publish a common formula that lets you convert those actions into a cross-game rate.

Boosters, events and seasonal tuning

Any temporary booster or event can change a session’s result. Battlefield 6’s Season 2 changes already demonstrate that progression values are tunable: passive hardware XP was added, completed-match career XP increased and REDSEC rewards were revised. A comparison made before or after such a change may no longer describe the same environment.

Different definitions of “finished”

One player may call Level 55 “finished,” while another is pursuing all 10 Prestiges and Prestige Master Level 1,000. A Battlefield 6 player may care only about one vehicle, or may be pursuing career, badges, accolades and challenges simultaneously. State the target before comparing speed.

How to run a fair personal comparison

If you want an answer for your own play style, use a simple protocol rather than copying an online claim.

  1. Choose one target: account level, a named weapon, a vehicle or a defined challenge.
  2. Use the same active-play window for each game, excluding downloads and unrelated menus.
  3. Record the mode, number of completed matches, starting and ending progression, and whether a booster or event was active.
  4. Repeat on more than one session so a single unusually short or long match does not decide the result.
  5. Keep versions and seasons separate. A Black Ops 7 result from one update and a Battlefield 6 Season 2 result are not automatically comparable to older reports.
  6. Report the result as “my progression for this target under these conditions,” not as a universal XP-per-hour claim.

Availability and what that means for this comparison

EA lists Battlefield 6 as available digitally and at retail for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Platform availability does not determine progression speed, but cross-platform players should make sure they are comparing the same current version and seasonal rules. The documented Call of Duty progression described here is specifically for Black Ops 7 and should not be generalized to older or newer Call of Duty titles without checking their own support pages.

Bottom line: choose by the progression you want

Choose Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 when your priority is account-rank flexibility. Its official documentation gives Level XP to Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and Warzone, then extends the account journey through Level 55, 10 Prestiges and Prestige Master Level 1,000.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Battlefield 6 when your priority is focused weapon or vehicle development in completed matches. Its career and hardware tracks, verified Portal progression and Season 2 changes to passive hardware XP and completion rewards make that path especially practical for equipment-focused play.

Neither game has a published, controlled XP-per-hour result that overrides those distinctions. The honest answer is conditional: Call of Duty is generally the better bet for switching modes while leveling an account, while Battlefield 6 can feel faster for a specific weapon or vehicle when you finish matches and use the revised hardware-XP system.
