Both combine a paid game or free-access mode with recurring seasonal Battle Passes. Call of Duty’s pass has a clearly documented currency return and explicitly cosmetic rewards. Battlefield 6 offers a military-focused cosmetic track, while its Battlefield Pro tier adds tier skips, XP boosts, challenge conveniences and Portal hosting. Choose based on whether you value grounded presentation, crossover-style cosmetics, shared progression, or time-saving features more than the headline pass price.
What the comparison actually measures
A fair Battlefield 6 versus Call of Duty comparison has three separate costs: the game or mode you start with, the standard seasonal pass, and optional premium upgrades. Looking only at the pass price can produce the wrong answer. A player who buys one pass and completes it may spend differently from someone who buys every premium bundle, while a Portal host may value a feature that has little importance to a solo player.

Both games use seasonal catalogs. Rewards, season numbers, item counts and regional prices can change, so the figures below describe the Battlefield 6 Season 5 listing and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone documentation available in October 2026. Check the live store for your platform and region before paying; taxes, currency conversion and later season changes can alter the checkout total.

How Battlefield 6 monetization works
The Season 5 Battle Pass
Electronic Arts’ current Season 5 store listing describes a Battle Pass with more than 100 tiers of unique items, six instant unlocks, a persistent Portal server and a 10% XP bonus. The reward language is centered on military customization: soldier skins, vehicle items, weapon packages, melee items and player-card backgrounds.

- MULTIPLAYER Victory, however you envision it. Battlefield 6 has more ways to win than ever before.

Progress is earned through XP and weekly challenges. The Battlefield Battle Pass page says the next tier is reached every 10 points. You can progress before buying, but you must purchase the pass to claim rewards from tiers you have already reached. That distinction matters if you want to wait until the end of a season: you can see how far you have progressed before committing, but the pass does not retroactively grant premium items for free.
EA’s comparison table lists the standard Season 5 pass at 1,100 currency units. EA’s listing does not establish a universal real-world price because the currency, platform storefront, taxes and regional conversion can differ. Treat 1,100 as the listed in-game amount, not as a guaranteed dollar or euro equivalent.
What Battlefield Pro adds
Battlefield Pro is the premium tier above the standard pass. EA lists it at €24.99 on the Season 5 product page, with a warning that regional taxes and pricing can vary. It includes the Season 5 Battle Pass plus:
- 25 tier skips, which move you through the track without requiring the corresponding amount of play time.
- A 5% extra XP benefit listed separately from the pass benefits.
- A vehicle radio station.
- Special assignments.
- Additional challenge rerolls.
- Portal hosting for up to 100 players.
- An exclusive bonus reward path.
- Six instant unlocks.
The documented instant unlock examples are a soldier skin, a helicopter vehicle skin, an assault-rifle weapon package, a player-card background and an ice-climbing-axe melee skin, with the product page listing six instant items in total. These are customization items rather than new weapons or maps.
Battlefield Pro therefore combines three kinds of value that should not be conflated: visual items, faster progression and a hosting capability. A player who only wants skins may not value the assignments, rerolls or server capacity. A group that regularly runs large private sessions may consider Portal hosting more important than the cosmetic track.
How Call of Duty monetization works
Free pass, base pass and Battle Pass Bundle
Activision documents a free Battle Pass for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, a Base Battle Pass costing 1,100 COD Points, and a Battle Pass Bundle costing 2,400 COD Points. The base pass provides access to more than 100 unlockable rewards and a 10% Battle Pass XP boost. The bundle adds 20 Battle Pass Tokens, allowing faster movement through the catalog.

The free track contains selected rewards, including free base weapons and cosmetic items in the documented seasonal catalog. It does not provide Battle Pass Tokens. Progression XP earned across Black Ops 6, Warzone and Warzone Mobile contributes to Battle Pass Tokens for the paid progression system; tokens can also be purchased with COD Points.

Activision says any unspent tokens are automatically spent on remaining rewards at the end of the season. If you intend to choose specific items manually, do not leave tokens unused until the deadline.
BlackCell
BlackCell includes the Battle Pass, 20 Battle Pass Tokens, 1,100 COD Points, an instant-rewards page, exclusive operator skins and exclusive weapon blueprints, plus a 10% XP boost. Activision’s support material does not provide one fixed BlackCell price, so the amount must be checked in the current store rather than inferred from the 1,100-point base pass or the 2,400-point bundle.
The official Season 4 announcement describes a catalog with more than 100 rewards and says a fully completed BlackCell track contains more than 130 item rewards. Its examples include operator skins, reactive and Mastercraft weapon blueprints, finishing moves, calling cards, emotes and collaborations. The same announcement says premium progression can return up to 1,100 COD Points. That return can offset a later base pass if you complete the relevant track and keep the points for the next season; it is not a promise that every BlackCell purchase pays for itself.
Which game has the more realistic cosmetics?
Battlefield 6’s stated direction
Battlefield’s documented reward categories stay close to a military sandbox: soldiers, vehicles, weapon packages, melee equipment and player cards. Christian Buhl, Battlefield 6 technical director, described the goal plainly: “We want to be a gritty, realistic shooter.” That statement is about the game’s intended direction, not a guarantee that every seasonal item will look identical or that the catalog will never include a stylized design.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a player who wants uniforms, vehicle finishes and weapon presentation that fit a contemporary combat setting, Battlefield’s categories and stated tone are the safer match. Its system still includes personalization, but the examples listed for Season 5 are grounded in the game’s military vocabulary.

Call of Duty’s broader presentation
Call of Duty’s documented seasonal catalog covers a wider range of presentation. Alongside operator skins and weapon blueprints, it includes reactive and Mastercraft designs, finishing moves, calling cards, emotes and collaborations. The Season 4 announcement names a collaboration with Ballerina, illustrating that the catalog can move beyond strictly military styling.
That breadth does not mean every Call of Duty item is humorous or unrealistic. It means the game offers more visible room for crossover themes, animation-heavy blueprints and character identities that sit outside a conventional uniform. Players who dislike “goofy” or highly conspicuous cosmetics should inspect the current season’s preview pages instead of assuming the whole catalog follows one style.
Why there is no reliable “more cosmetics” winner
The listed rewards support a difference in direction and catalog breadth, not a definitive lifetime count. Seasonal inventories change, and the two publishers do not present a common accounting method for comparing every item. Battlefield’s “100+ tiers” and Call of Duty’s “more than 130 item rewards” refer to different tracks and seasons, so they cannot be treated as an apples-to-apples total.

Do either game sell pay-to-win items?
Call of Duty’s explicit policy
Activision’s support documentation states: “Base Battle Pass, Battle Pass Bundle or BlackCell rewards are cosmetic and do not provide any gameplay advantages.” On that documented basis, the operator skins, blueprints, finishing moves, calling cards and related rewards are not sold as stronger guns, extra health or superior map access.
Blueprints can change a weapon’s appearance and may package a particular build, but the quoted policy is the relevant guarantee for these Battle Pass rewards: the reward is not intended to confer a gameplay advantage. Weapon performance remains governed by the underlying game configuration rather than the rarity label or price tier of the cosmetic.
Battlefield’s convenience benefits
Battlefield Pro is not described as selling a more powerful rifle or a paid map. Its advantages are progression and access conveniences: tier skips, XP boosts, special assignments, challenge rerolls and Portal hosting. Those features can reduce the time needed to unlock items or make it easier to run a large private session, which is meaningful value, but they are different from paying for superior combat statistics.

When comparing fairness, separate visual content from time saved. A player who has little free time may view 25 tier skips as valuable. Another player may prefer to earn every tier normally and see the skips as unnecessary. Battlefield Pro is not described as granting a weapon-stat advantage; the tier does include progression and hosting benefits.

Is Battlefield 6 cheaper than Call of Duty?
Why a universal answer would be misleading
The up-front price of each game edition is not specified in the supplied material, and both titles can be encountered through different purchase or free-access arrangements. A valid comparison must name the platform, edition, region, season and whether the player buys a standard pass, a bundle or a premium tier.
At the documented pass level, Battlefield 6 lists 1,100 currency units for its standard Season 5 pass, while Call of Duty lists 1,100 COD Points for its base pass. Those figures look similar numerically but are not necessarily equal in real money. Battlefield Pro is listed at €24.99, whereas a single BlackCell price is not stated in Activision’s support material. Therefore, the evidence does not support saying that one game is universally cheaper.
How the currency return changes value
Call of Duty’s premium progression can return up to 1,100 COD Points in the documented Season 4 announcement. A player who completes the relevant track and saves that currency may be able to fund a later 1,100-point base pass without another cash purchase. The result depends on completion, the season’s actual reward layout and whether the player spends the returned points elsewhere.
No equivalent Battlefield currency return is stated in the documented Season 5 material. Do not assume that the 1,100-unit Battlefield pass replenishes itself. Verify the current reward grid before treating any pass as renewable.
Value by player type
| If you are primarily… | The more relevant value question is… | Likely fit from the documented systems |
|---|---|---|
| A realism-focused military customizer | Do the current soldier, vehicle and weapon items fit a grounded battlefield? | Battlefield 6’s stated gritty direction and military reward categories are the closer match. |
| A completionist who wants currency back | Can I finish the track and recover premium currency? | Call of Duty has the clearer documented return, up to 1,100 COD Points in Season 4. |
| A player with limited time | Are tier skips, XP boosts and rerolls worth paying for? | Battlefield Pro directly packages 25 skips, XP benefits and challenge conveniences; Call of Duty’s bundle and BlackCell use 20 tokens. |
| A large-group host | Does the pass expand private-session capability? | Battlefield Pro lists Portal hosting for up to 100 players. |
| A crossover and character-skin fan | How broad is the catalog’s presentation? | Call of Duty documents collaborations, operator identities, finishing moves, emotes and elaborate blueprints. |
| A player avoiding recurring spend | Can I play and earn useful items without buying the pass? | Both systems retain free-access elements, but the exact free rewards differ by season; Call of Duty explicitly documents a free pass. |
What to check before buying a pass
- Confirm the season and platform. Open the live in-game or platform store and make sure the offer is the current season, not an expired listing or a different edition.
- Separate pass access from instant rewards. Check which items unlock immediately and which require progression. Battlefield’s standard listing has six instant unlocks, while Battlefield Pro has its own six instant unlocks and an exclusive path.
- Calculate the real-money conversion. Battlefield’s 1,100 units and Call of Duty’s 1,100 COD Points are in-game amounts, not a shared currency. Include regional taxes and any required currency bundle size.
- Decide whether you will finish. A bundle is less attractive if you rarely reach the later tiers. In Call of Duty, unfinished tokens are automatically spent when the season ends, so plan your purchases before the deadline.
- Read the reward categories. If you want grounded equipment, inspect Battlefield’s soldier, vehicle and weapon-package items. If you dislike flashy or crossover designs, inspect Call of Duty’s operator, blueprint and collaboration previews.
- Value convenience honestly. Count tier skips, XP boosts, challenge rerolls and Portal hosting as time or access benefits, not as cosmetic quantity. They matter only if you will use them.
- Check the free track first. Call of Duty’s free pass includes selected rewards and base weapons. A player satisfied with those items may not need a paid tier for ordinary play.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing unlike prices
Do not compare €24.99 Battlefield Pro directly with 2,400 COD Points as though they were the same product. Pro includes a pass and a package of conveniences; the Call of Duty bundle and BlackCell have different contents. Convert each offer into the features you will actually use.
Best Value
- Requires Battlefield 6 (sold separately) or Battlefield REDSEC, all game updates, persistent internet connection & an EA account.
- Battlefield Coins can be used in the in-game Store to purchase Soldiers, Weapon Packages and a host of other cosmetic accessories and boosters. Can also be used to purchase the Battle Pass.
Calling every progression aid pay-to-win
Tier skips and XP boosts shorten a progression path. They can affect how quickly a player reaches cosmetic rewards, but that is not the same as increasing damage, health or accuracy. Use “pay for convenience” when the documented benefit is faster unlocking or hosting rather than combat power.
Assuming every cosmetic is permanent in style
Battlefield’s gritty statement and Call of Duty’s broad catalog describe direction, not an immutable rule for every future season. Review the current item thumbnails and descriptions, especially if visual realism is your deciding factor.
Assuming the pass pays for itself automatically
Call of Duty documents a possible return of up to 1,100 COD Points, conditional on the premium progression and its reward layout. Battlefield’s Season 5 material does not state a currency return. Neither should be treated as guaranteed cash savings without completing the required track and preserving the returned currency.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Verdict: choose the monetization model that matches your priorities
Choose Battlefield 6 if your priority is a grounded military presentation, vehicle and soldier customization, or Battlefield Pro’s combination of 25 tier skips, XP and challenge conveniences with Portal hosting for up to 100 players. Choose Call of Duty if you want a free pass option, progression shared across Black Ops 6, Warzone and Warzone Mobile, a larger variety of operator and crossover-style cosmetics, or a documented possibility of recovering up to 1,100 COD Points from premium progression.
Neither title can be declared cheaper in the abstract. Compare the live regional offer, your likelihood of completing the season and the value of convenience features before purchasing. The most defensible distinction is not price but emphasis: Battlefield presents a more explicitly gritty, military customization system, while Call of Duty offers a broader seasonal catalog and a clearer currency-return mechanism.
