EA says its list is not exhaustive, so an equivalent processor or graphics card can work even when it is not named. Treat each part as a performance class, not as a whitelist.

What the minimum specification really means
The minimum tier is a 1080p/30-FPS, low-setting baseline. It is useful for checking whether an older gaming PC is in the right range, but it is not a smooth-60-FPS recommendation. The RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT 6 GB, and Arc A380 examples establish the graphics class; the Core i5-8400 and Ryzen 5 2600 establish the processor class. The requirement calls for 16 GB of dual-channel RAM running at 2133 MHz.
EA’s minimum storage description is a 55 GB hard-drive installation. It covers either the single-player campaign or multiplayer without the high-resolution texture pack. A hard drive may satisfy the stated capacity requirement, but loading and streaming are more demanding than merely having enough free space; an SSD is the safer choice when you are upgrading.
Windows 10 is the listed minimum operating system. DirectX 12 is required, and EA recommends hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling for this tier. Meeting the listed parts should therefore be treated as the entry point for launching and playing at reduced settings, not as evidence that every busy multiplayer scene will hold 30 FPS.
Why the recommended tier is the sensible target for 1440p
EA’s recommended examples move to a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Arc B580, with 8 GB of VRAM. The processor examples are a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X. Memory remains 16 GB but at a faster 3200 MHz dual-channel configuration.

This tier has two official targets: 1440p at 60 FPS on high settings, and 1080p at 80 FPS or more on low settings. If you want a normal 1440p monitor experience rather than a low-preset compromise, shop around this class instead of the minimum parts. There is no separate official 1080p/60 tier; the recommended class is the safer baseline when you want frame-rate headroom above the minimum target.
Recommended specifications list Windows 11 64-bit and DirectX 12. Plan on an SSD rather than a hard drive. EA’s current requirements page lists 80 GiB, while its October 7, 2025 launch article lists 90 GB for the campaign, multiplayer, and high-resolution texture pack. Keep at least the larger figure free, plus additional room for updates and normal Windows operation.
What the ultra tiers are designed for
Ultra: 4K/60 or high-refresh 1440p
The ultra tier is a major jump, not a small step above the recommended configuration. EA names RTX 4080 or RX 7900 XTX-class graphics with 16 GB of VRAM, a Core i9-12900 or Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and 32 GB of RAM. Its targets are 2160p/4K at 60 FPS on ultra settings or 1440p at 144 FPS on medium settings.
EA specifically changed the 1440p/144-FPS target from high to medium to maintain stable operation. That qualification matters: a 144 Hz monitor does not automatically mean you can run the highest preset at 144 FPS.

Ultra++: 4K high-refresh
Ultra++ is aimed at 4K at 144 FPS or 4K at 240 FPS and above. EA points to RTX 5080-class graphics and DLSS performance modes. The cited requirements do not provide a separate CPU or RAM example for this tier, so do not infer one from the ultra row; select a modern platform that can keep pace with the graphics card and verify the game’s current guidance before buying.
Platform-security requirements you must check before upgrading
TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, HVCI capability, and VBS capability are required across the listed tiers. These are platform prerequisites, not optional graphics settings. Secure Boot also supports EA Javelin anti-cheat, so a fast GPU cannot compensate for a system that fails the security check.
- UEFI and Secure Boot: In Windows, open
msinfo32and check “BIOS Mode” and “Secure Boot State.” A legacy BIOS installation may need conversion to UEFI before Secure Boot can be enabled. Changing firmware settings without a backup can make an existing Windows installation unbootable, so confirm your disk layout and recovery options first. - TPM 2.0: Press
Win+R, runtpm.msc, and check that the specification version is 2.0. On some systems the firmware option is labelled Intel Platform Trust Technology or AMD fTPM. - HVCI and VBS capability: In Windows Security, open “Device security” and review “Core isolation.”
msinfo32also reports virtualization-based security status. The requirement is capability across tiers; firmware virtualization, compatible drivers, and Windows configuration determine whether the features can run. - Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: For a minimum-class system, EA recommends checking Windows’ Graphics settings and enabling this option when the toggle is available and stable with your driver.
How to check whether your current PC is ready
- Press
Win+R, enterdxdiag, and inspect the System tab for Windows edition, processor, installed memory, and DirectX version. Save the report if you need to compare a used PC with EA’s examples. - Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc, choose “Performance,” and record the GPU model, dedicated GPU memory, CPU model, and whether the memory is running in a dual-channel configuration. The displayed VRAM should be compared with the 6 GB minimum example or 8 GB recommended class. - Open Settings, choose “System,” then “Storage,” and verify the free space on the drive where you will install the game. Use an SSD and leave room beyond the published 80 GiB/90 GB figures for patches and texture data.
- Run
msinfo32to check UEFI mode and Secure Boot, then runtpm.mscto verify TPM 2.0. Resolve these platform checks before spending money on a faster graphics card. - Compare your parts with the target table by class. A processor that matches the GPU but has fewer cores, slower memory, or a power or thermal limit may deliver less consistent frame times than the named reference system.

Upgrade the platform-security and storage foundations first if they are missing. Replacing a GPU while the PC remains in legacy BIOS mode, lacks TPM 2.0, or cannot run Secure Boot will not solve an anti-cheat launch failure.
Storage, operating-system, and installation planning
The two official storage numbers describe different documents. The current requirements page says 80 GiB for the recommended installation, while the October 7, 2025 launch article says 90 GB on an SSD for the campaign, multiplayer, and high-resolution texture pack. GiB and GB are different units, and the documents may describe different content bundles. For a new installation, reserve at least 90 GB on an SSD and keep extra capacity for updates rather than treating either figure as the entire lifetime footprint.

The minimum 55 GB HDD figure is explicitly associated with a reduced installation: the campaign or multiplayer without the high-resolution texture pack. That is why a PC can meet the minimum capacity number yet still need substantially more space for the full recommended content set.
Common problems after the hardware check
The game refuses to start
Check Secure Boot, UEFI mode, TPM 2.0, and HVCI/VBS capability before changing graphics settings. Anti-cheat platform checks occur before rendering performance matters. If Windows was installed in legacy mode, make a recovery backup and follow a documented UEFI conversion procedure for your motherboard and Windows installation rather than randomly switching firmware options.
Performance is below the target
Confirm that the display is connected to the discrete GPU, memory is installed as a dual-channel kit, and the game is using the intended resolution and preset. A minimum-class machine should be tested at 1080p low; a recommended-class machine should be tested against the 1440p high or 1080p low target that EA assigns to it. Update the graphics driver through the GPU manufacturer’s supported channel and close unnecessary background workloads.

Stutter or texture-streaming delays
Move the installation from a hard drive to an SSD, check that the drive is not nearly full, and allow shader or texture processing to finish after updates. If the system has only 16 GB of RAM, close browsers and recording tools before assuming the GPU is at fault. These steps improve consistency but cannot turn minimum hardware into an ultra-tier system.
How to interpret EA’s numbers over time
EA states that the requirements can change as development and live-service content evolve. New maps, texture packs, patches, or anti-cheat changes can alter the practical workload. Recheck the current official requirements before a major hardware purchase, especially if you are relying on the 80 GiB figure or Windows 10 support.
The most defensible buying rule is simple: use the minimum row only for 1080p low at 30 FPS, the recommended row for a smooth 1440p/60 experience, and the ultra rows only when you specifically need high-refresh 1440p or 4K. Keep the security prerequisites and SSD capacity in the plan; they are as important to a working Battlefield 6 installation as the headline GPU model.
