To reduce what you see, use the in-game Block control for individual players, report material that breaks EA’s rules, and adjust EA account privacy settings and your console’s parental controls where appropriate. These controls have different scopes: blocking silences one player, while privacy and family settings govern profile discovery or access to communication and sharing features.
Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025 and includes both text and voice chat. That means player-created names, descriptions, images and messages can appear alongside ordinary game content. The steps and limits below reflect EA’s documented controls; menu names can change with the game build or platform.

What counts as player-created content in Battlefield 6?
Electronic Arts treats much more than a custom emblem as user-created content (UGC). Its definition of text UGC includes anything a player types that other players can see, such as an EA ID, game-specific name, club name, content description and text-chat message. EA also recognizes image UGC. Voice chat is a separate communication channel, but it creates the same practical issue: another player can place unwanted material in your session.

Those channels can therefore expose you to ordinary conversation, offensive language, harassment or attempts to evade a profanity filter. Names and descriptions can be visible before anyone sends a chat message, so limiting chat alone does not necessarily remove every player-authored item.

The controls and what each one actually changes
| Control | Scope | Documented effect | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Block | One selected player | EA says the blocked player is muted for you in both voice and text chat. | It is a player-specific action, not a global filter for all UGC. |
| Report | A selected player and the conduct or content connected to that player | Sends a reason and any additional information to EA through the in-game reporting flow. | A report is not the same as an immediate local hide or mute. |
| EA account Privacy Settings | Your EA profile | Controls who can see or search for your account profile. | EA’s public documentation does not establish that this hides every in-match name, image or message. |
| Console parental controls | A child’s access to platform features | EA says it respects console controls for features that could let a child share personal information through chat or UGC. | Available options and labels depend on the console and family account. |
| In-game profanity filter | Text chat | An EA Battlefield community post says the filter “will always be active.” | EA’s currently documented support material does not provide a verified Battlefield 6 menu for turning it off or configuring it. |
How to block a player and stop their chat
Blocking is the fastest documented way to stop hearing or reading one person. It affects your view of that player rather than changing what the rest of the squad sees.
- Pause the game. Open the pause menu while the player or their message is identifiable.
- Choose “Squad and Players.” This opens the list of people in your current session or squad.
- Select the player. Choose the account whose communications you no longer want to receive.
- Select “Block.” The option is in the same player menu used for reporting.
EA states that a blocked player is muted for you in both voice and text chat. If the person is abusive, hateful or threatening, blocking protects your session while a report gives EA information for possible enforcement. Blocking alone does not tell EA why the player was blocked, and it does not remove unrelated UGC from other accounts.
How to report abusive or rule-breaking material
Use reporting when a name, message, image, description or voice-chat behavior appears to violate EA’s rules. The documented Battlefield procedure is:
- Pause the game.
- Open Squad and Players.
- Choose the player involved.
- Select Report.
- Choose the reason that best matches the conduct.
- Add useful information in the explanation field.
- Send the report.
Keep the description specific: identify what happened, where it appeared and whether it involved a username, text message, image or voice communication. Do not retaliate in chat; preserve the relevant details and submit them through the reporting tool. If the player remains in the session, you can block them separately after sending the report.
What EA’s rules cover
The Battlefield Community Charter tells players to make sure content shared in-game is not offensive. It specifically prohibits abusive, hateful, lewd, threatening and unlawful content, and it says not to spam chat with profanity or evade the filter by replacing letters with symbols. The rule applies to shared material, not only to a formal chat message; a username, club name, description or image can also be part of the conduct EA evaluates.
EA’s User Agreement makes the uploader responsible for their UGC. It also says EA may remove, edit or disable UGC when it reasonably determines that the content violates the agreement. EA does not pre-screen all UGC, so an offensive item can appear before a moderator or automated system acts. Reporting is therefore important when content is visible and clearly breaks the rules.
EA’s Battlefield rules page says hate speech or harassment in-game or in a username can lead to suspension. A report can contribute to that enforcement review, but the reporter should not expect a particular outcome or timing.

Can you hide all player-created content?
EA’s public documentation located for Battlefield 6 does not verify a universal “hide all player-created content” switch. It also does not establish a current Battlefield 6 path for disabling names, emblems, images, descriptions and chat at once. Do not rely on a menu path copied from an older Battlefield release or from a different platform build; labels and available settings can differ.
This distinction matters because the controls operate at different levels:
- Block handles one account’s voice and text communications.
- Report sends suspected violations to EA for review and possible removal or account action.
- EA Privacy Settings govern profile visibility and searchability, not a confirmed global in-match content filter.
- Console family controls can restrict a child’s access to communication or sharing features that may expose personal information.
If your goal is to avoid a particular player, blocking is the documented immediate action. If your goal is to eliminate every custom name, image, description and message from every match, no verified EA instruction currently promises that result.
Privacy settings: what they are useful for
EA says account Privacy Settings control who can see or search for an EA profile. Review those settings if you want to reduce profile discovery, friend requests or exposure of account information outside the immediate match context. Use the least visible option that still lets you play with the people you trust, then check whether the change affects invitations or other social features you use.
Profile privacy should not be treated as a guaranteed way to hide every identifier displayed during a match. EA’s documentation defines names and other visible text as UGC, but it does not state that profile-search restrictions suppress all in-game labels. For an unwanted player you can identify, use the player menu’s Block command as well.
Parental controls for children
Families should configure two layers: the child’s EA account Privacy Settings and the console’s family or parental controls. EA’s privacy notice says it respects console controls for features that could allow a child to share personal information through chat or UGC. Depending on the platform, those controls may govern voice chat, text communication, user-generated sharing or contact from other players.
- Open the console’s family-management or parental-control area using the parent account.
- Review communication, multiplayer, user-generated-content and personal-information sharing permissions for the child’s profile.
- Set the strictest communication and sharing level that fits the child’s use of the game.
- Review the child’s EA Privacy Settings separately; platform restrictions do not replace account-level profile choices.
- Explain how to pause, open Squad and Players, block a player and submit a report so the child can respond to an incident without engaging with the sender.
Because console controls differ by platform and may be updated independently of Battlefield 6, use the labels shown on your own console rather than assuming a setting exists under the same name elsewhere. Test the child account after changing restrictions: join a session, check whether communication is available and confirm that personal information cannot be shared unintentionally.

How the profanity filter fits into the picture
An EA Battlefield community post says an in-game text profanity filter “will always be active.” That statement supports treating filtering as a baseline moderation feature, not as a user-controlled privacy switch. EA’s currently documented support pages do not provide a verified Battlefield 6 menu for changing the filter, choosing replacement terms or disabling it.

A practical response plan
If you simply do not want to hear one person
Pause, open Squad and Players, select the account and choose Block. The player’s voice and text chat will be muted for you. This is the narrowest action and avoids reporting conduct that may not violate a rule.
If the person is abusive, hateful or threatening
Use Report in the same menu, select the matching reason, add concise context and send it. Then use Block to mute the account for the rest of your play. EA identifies hate speech and harassment, including in usernames, as conduct that can lead to suspension.
If a custom name, image or description is offensive
Treat it as UGC, not as harmless decoration. Record the player account or location in the session, report it through the documented flow and block the player if you do not want further chat. EA can remove, edit or disable violating UGC, although it does not pre-screen every item.

If the concern is a child sharing information
Change the child’s EA Privacy Settings and the console’s communication and UGC permissions. A block on one player does not prevent a different account from contacting the child, so family-level restrictions are the more appropriate control.
Troubleshooting when a control seems ineffective
- You still see other players’ names or images: blocking is account-specific, and no universal Battlefield 6 hide-everything switch is documented. Review account privacy options, but do not expect them to erase all in-match identifiers.
- You can still hear or read someone after selecting a control: verify that you selected the correct account in Squad and Players. Blocked-player muting applies to the blocker; it does not mute other members of the squad for you.
- You cannot find a profanity-filter setting: that is consistent with the available documentation. EA’s community statement says the text filter remains active, while official support material does not document a configurable Battlefield 6 menu.
- A report does not produce an immediate visible change: reporting sends information to EA; it is not described as an instant removal mechanism. Use Block for immediate local muting and avoid further engagement.
- A child can still access communication: check both the console child profile and the EA account. One layer may permit a feature that the other layer does not restrict.
What to expect from moderation
EA places responsibility for UGC on the person who creates or shares it. When EA reasonably determines that material violates its User Agreement, it may remove, edit or disable that UGC. Enforcement can also affect the account: the Battlefield rules page identifies suspension as a possible consequence for hate speech or harassment in a game or username.
Those policies explain why reporting matters, but they do not guarantee that every report will result in removal or suspension. Use the in-game tools for the clearest record, provide the matching reason and enough context for a reviewer to understand what occurred, and use blocking to control your own immediate experience.
