What a BarkBox subscription includes
BarkBox is a recurring delivery service, not a one-time purchase. According to BARK’s official FAQ, the classic box contains two toys, two treat bags, and a surprise experience. You cannot hand-pick the contents, but you can customize the types of toys and treats you receive and add items to an order.

That distinction matters when you compare offers. A discount on a box you cannot choose from is worth less to some dogs than it appears, especially if your dog ignores plush toys or already has a favorite chew.
Standard BarkBox or Super Chewer
BARK also sells Super Chewer as a separate option for dogs that need more durable toys. The FAQ says Super Chewer plans start at $29 per month. The two options differ in price, assortment, and toughness, so compare them directly before applying any code.

Dog size and chewing style are the deciding factors. A small dog with light chewing rarely needs the tougher assortment, and paying the higher starting price for it only makes sense if standard toys do not last.
Where the 50% claim comes from
The 50% figure comes from third-party coupon listings, not from BARK. A coupon aggregator page crawled on October 7, 2026 lists a 50% seasonal offer and a claimed 50% off a first BarkBox subscription, under the heading “Coupon Code for 50% Off 1st Barkbox Subscription.” That page is a coupon listing, not a statement from BARK, and it does not say the code will work for you.

WIRED also published an article titled “Barkbox Promo Codes and Discounts: Up to 50% Off” on August 12, 2026. It describes BarkBox as a recurring delivery of themed toys, chews, and snacks. Treat it as editorial context. An August article cannot confirm that a code still works in October.

- An offer shown on a coupon page is not a guarantee. Our search of BARK’s official FAQ did not confirm the advertised 50% subscription deal.
The official FAQ also mentions a buy-one-get-one collection offer that expired on December 3, 2025. Do not count on it. Any discount listed with that date is no longer valid.

How to test a code before you commit
- Start from BARK’s official site and choose the plan you actually want, not the one the coupon page features.
- Note the list price per month for that plan and its commitment length (monthly, six-month, or 12-month).
- Enter the code in the promotion or discount field during checkout. If the field does not accept the code, stop there. Do not assume the discount will apply later.
- Compare the new total against the list price. Check whether the discount applies to the first box only or to every renewal.
- Read the renewal terms and the cancellation rules shown before you confirm. If the discount is first-order only, calculate the price you will pay after it ends.
Screenshot the checkout summary, including the plan name, the discounted amount, and the renewal wording. If the offer later changes or your account shows a different price, you will have a record of what was promised at signup.
Commitment, renewal, and cancellation
The renewal and cancellation rules matter more than the headline discount, particularly for six-month and 12-month plans. According to BARK’s FAQ:

- Shipping territory: the FAQ says shipping is currently available in the 48 contiguous states. Confirm this at checkout if you live elsewhere.
- Delivery timing: boxes typically take 5 to 10 business days after an order ships. Recurring orders usually arrive by the 20th of the month, but the FAQ says delivery may extend to the end of the month.
A multi-month plan with a first-box discount can cost more over its term than a monthly plan at full price if you cancel early, because you remain committed until the current term ends. Read the term length before applying any code.

- Confirm that the code applies at checkout and that the discount is shown in the final total.
- Confirm which plan length the discount covers and what the renewal price will be.
- Confirm the shipping territory for your address.
- Decide between standard BarkBox and Super Chewer based on your dog’s size and chewing habits, not the coupon headline.
- Save the auto-renewal and cancellation steps in your account before the first charge.
If you cannot verify a discount at checkout, the list price on BARK’s own plan pages is the number to budget against.
