What is the Bark Phone?
Bark Phone combines a handset, a Bark wireless line, and Bark’s parent-managed controls. Bark says parents manage the child’s phone from a separate Android or iOS device. The standard Bark Phone is identified as Samsung A16 hardware; Bark Phone Pro is identified as Samsung A37. A regular Samsung A16 should not be assumed to include Bark service or its control configuration. Bark’s product page describes both models as 6.7-inch phones with 128 GB of storage; it lists 4 GB of RAM for the standard model and 6 GB for Pro.

Bark describes the Pro as having IP68 water- and dust-resistance and stronger glass, compared with IP54 for the standard model. These are the manufacturer’s stated specifications, not results from an independent durability test. What parental controls does Bark describe?
Bark markets content monitoring with alerts, contact approval, app-install approval, undeletable texts, remote alarms and locking, and settings designed to resist tampering. These are company-described capabilities; the available information does not establish how accurately monitoring detects every risk or how effective the controls are in practice. How much does the Bark Phone cost?
The monthly total includes service and, if financed, a separate device charge. Bark’s live product page, as listed October 7, 2026, lists the standard handset at $15 per month for 24 months and Pro at $25 per month for 24 months. The same page lists Starter service at $29 per month and Advanced service at $39, $49, $59, or $79 per month depending on tier.
There is an official price discrepancy: Bark’s support pricing article lists the standard Bark Phone at $240 upfront or $10 per month for 24 months, rather than the live product page’s $15 monthly device price. Because the pages differ, confirm the handset price and financing terms at checkout instead of assuming either figure will apply. Taxes may also apply. Is it a good first phone for a child?
The Bark Phone is a plausible fit when a parent specifically wants a Bark-managed line and values parent approval of contacts and apps. Starter is unusually restrictive by design: it offers calls and texts without internet, an app store, games, or social media. Advanced plans provide a middle ground for a child who needs selected apps or web access, with app limits, schedules, and website blocking described by Bark.

It may be a poor fit if your family wants an inexpensive device without an ongoing Bark line, needs an app or service that the chosen plan cannot support, or wants to use a phone already in hand. Compare the combined monthly service and device cost with the cost and controls of an existing-phone option. Bark separately offers an app for existing iOS and Android devices, with monitoring, screen-time management, blocking, and location functions; those are distinct from buying the Bark Phone. There is no independent test of monitoring effectiveness, safety outcomes, or device durability. Treat Bark’s claims as product descriptions, and decide whether the plan’s restrictions and costs fit your child’s needs rather than assuming a managed phone can replace family rules or supervision.

Availability, returns, and accessories
Bark says the Bark Phone is currently available only to families in the United States. For purchases made directly from Bark, the product page describes a 60-day return window for the device cost only; service payments are not refundable. A phone bought through Amazon, Walmart, or another retailer is subject to that retailer’s return policy. Confirm current terms with the seller before ordering. A case marketed for a standard Samsung Galaxy A16 should not automatically be assumed to fit the Bark Phone. Samsung’s U.S. A16 5G case listing does not explicitly confirm fit for Bark’s configuration, and its listing was out of stock when checked.
