Prioritize the threat that can make the encounter worse, not the item named in the headline. Bantam is a snub-nosed revolver, not an ARC enemy. The first target in a typical encounter is an active Snitch if it is beginning its alarm, followed by anything dealing immediate damage or trapping your route. If no target is escalating the fight and extraction is the objective, disengaging is often the strongest play.
This guide separates the Bantam’s equipment role from enemy-priority decisions and gives you a repeatable way to choose between an alarm unit, a heavy attacker, another Raider, or simply the safest route away.

What the matchup actually means
The phrase “Bantam vs. other ARC Raiders enemies” compares unlike things. ARC Raiders/Embark Studios describes the Bantam as “a snub-nosed revolver that uses heavy ammo to punch a hole straight through your adversaries.” The same official description says it is “Effective against ARC and Raiders” and has a hip-fire capability. You can read that wording in the official ARC Raiders Steam news listing.

That establishes what the Bantam is designed to do, but it does not establish a universal best target, damage ranking, or time-to-kill table. Enemy priority changes with detection, distance, cover, squad position, the objective you are carrying out, and whether an escape route remains open. Treat the revolver as one tool in that decision, not as a threat category.

A practical priority rule
Use this order when several threats appear at once. It is a situational rule derived from the documented behaviors of ARC machines and Raiders, not a developer-published ranking.
| What is happening | Default response | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| A Snitch is detecting you or starting its alarm | Break its line of sight and interrupt it before the alarm completes | It can alert nearby ARC and bring reinforcements, turning one contact into a larger fight |
| An enemy is actively locking on, firing, leaping, or pinning your position | Get behind cover or eliminate the immediate attacker if escape is not possible | Survival takes precedence over a less urgent target |
| A heavy ARC blocks a route but is not attacking and you have another path | Rotate, hide, or disengage | Starting a costly fight may expose you to more machines or other Raiders |
| Another Raider has a clear angle on you or is contesting the objective | Use cover and decide whether the objective requires a fight | Raiders compete for loot, but combat can also reveal your location and consume supplies |
| No threat is escalating and extraction is available | Leave rather than shooting for its own sake | The topside trip is explicitly a risk-and-reward scavenging run |
Why a Snitch can deserve first attention
The Snitch is the clearest conditional priority because its danger is not limited to its own weapon fire. The official overview says Snitches call reinforcements when they spot Raiders in the open. A current AI guide, published March 28, 2026 and updated October 5, 2026, likewise describes them as loudly alerting nearby ARC and summoning additional units; its explanations are guidance rather than official documentation. See the ARC Raiders AI enemy guide.
Interrupt the alarm, do not trade shots in the open
When a Snitch turns toward your squad, the first move should be concealment: get behind a wall, rock, wreck, or interior corner, then shoot or reposition from cover. Remaining exposed while trying to finish it gives the alarm a chance to complete and may also attract unrelated machines. If the Snitch loses sight of you, use the pause to reload, move to a better angle, or leave the area.

When the Snitch is not the first shot
If another enemy is already firing into your cover, a Leaper is in its attack animation, or a heavy unit has you trapped with no safe route, survive that immediate damage first. The Snitch rule is conditional: preventing escalation is valuable only if you can do so without taking lethal damage from a closer threat. A short retreat that breaks both lines of sight can be better than forcing a low-health finish.
Handling immediate ARC damage
The official overview dated October 13, 2025 identifies several machine behaviors that change the order of your response. It describes stealthy Ticks that cling to structures and jump at unaware Raiders, Leapers with destructive leap attacks, and Bombardiers that use Spotter drones to target mortar attacks. Those descriptions appear in the official ARC Raiders overview.
Ticks and concealed approach routes
A Tick that is already attached to a wall, ceiling, or structure near your route can be more urgent than a distant heavy unit because it can punish an unaware movement. Check surfaces before crossing a doorway or climbing route, listen for the machine, and avoid sprinting blindly into a confined space. If the Tick has committed to a jump, moving laterally and using the nearest hard cover can reduce the chance that you trade health for a distant target.

Leapers and close-range attack windows
A Leaper’s leap changes the priority when it is closing on your position. Do not stand in the open to finish another enemy while the leap is imminent. Break its approach with solid cover or a corner, then fire during the recovery window if you still need to clear the route. The Bantam’s hip-fire capability can be useful at a short distance, but no official source here establishes a numerical range, damage value, or guaranteed number of shots against a Leaper.
Bombardiers, Spotter drones, and mortar pressure
Bombardier encounters are governed by exposure and warning time. A Spotter drone can enable mortar targeting, so remaining in the same exposed position while focusing on a different enemy is dangerous. Move behind substantial cover, change elevation or angle where possible, and only re-engage once the bombardment no longer controls your movement. A guide on machine weak points recommends cover against turret fire and targeting exposed weak points; it is useful tactical advice, not a universal priority order. Consult the Blueprinted Gaming ARC machine guide.
Heavy threats: fight, route around, or reset
Large ARC machines can dominate an area without being the first thing you shoot. Their importance depends on whether they are attacking, blocking the only route, or merely occupying a distant patrol path. A heavy unit that has not detected you may be safely bypassed; the same unit firing into your only cover becomes the immediate problem.

Use cover as a resource
Cover is not just protection from bullets. It breaks detection, buys reload time, interrupts mortar targeting, and lets a squad split an enemy’s attention. Move from one piece of hard cover to the next rather than making a long sprint across open ground. If the next piece of cover does not lead toward the objective or extraction, reconsider whether the fight is worth starting.
Target weak points only when the angle is safe
Weak-point shots can shorten a fight, but exposing yourself to obtain them can reverse that benefit. Peek only when the machine’s attack cycle gives you a safe window, and have a retreat route planned. If your squad cannot maintain that angle, suppressing the threat long enough to rotate may be more valuable than attempting a perfect weak-point attack.
Other Raiders and the value of disengagement
ARC is not the only source of danger. The official overview notes that other Raiders compete for the same loot. A player-versus-player contact may therefore be the most urgent target when it has a clear firing angle, is about to reach your objective, or is preventing extraction. It is not automatically the correct target simply because it is another player.
Best Value
Ask three questions before committing: Can this fight be finished quickly from cover? What information will the gunfire reveal to ARC or nearby squads? Does winning the position advance the objective, or merely add risk? If the answer to the first question is no and the objective is already secured, rotate away. The official overview supports solo play or squads of up to three players, so your available support and the number of angles your team can hold should also affect the decision.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where the Bantam fits
What is confirmed about the revolver
The official description confirms two practical characteristics: it uses heavy ammunition and offers a distinctive hip-fire capability. That combination points to a sidearm intended for close engagements where drawing and firing without aiming down sights matters. It does not prove that the Bantam is optimal against any named ARC machine, nor does it provide current damage, falloff, recoil, magazine, or reload figures.
What secondary guides add—and what they do not prove
A Games.gg guide updated October 9, 2026 calls the Bantam a budget-friendly close-range sidearm and discusses it alongside the Anvil. That is a secondary assessment, and balance patches can change the practical comparison. Use the Games.gg Bantam guide for context, but verify live in-game stats before treating a range, accuracy, or damage claim as current.
Choosing the Bantam during an encounter
- Equip it when your expected engagements are close and you can use cover to control the distance.
- Keep enough heavy ammunition for the fights that actually block your route; do not spend it on a distant target you can bypass.
- Use hip fire when speed and movement matter, but do not assume hip fire removes the need for a stable angle.
- Carry or select another weapon when the route requires sustained fire at longer distances; the available official material does not establish the Bantam’s effective range.
- Judge the weapon by your current objective and ammunition, not by an imagined enemy tier list.
Enemy labels and patch-sensitive information
Community databases can help you recognize names, but their labels are not a universal combat doctrine. Arc-traiders.com categorizes Matriarch and Queen as “Extreme Threat” and lists Bastion, Bombardier, Leaper, Rocketeer, and other machines. Those are that site’s classifications; they should not be read as an official order in which every squad must shoot enemies. Its bestiary is available at Arc-traiders.com’s ARC database.
Enemy rosters can also change with updates. TheArcRaiders.com database lists Bully, Skulker, and Hydra in its Frozen Trail 2.0 roster dated October 8, 2026. Check current patch notes and your live game before relying on a complete list of machines or assuming that a counter still works exactly as described. The database is at TheArcRaiders.com.
No verified comparative health, damage, or time-to-kill statistics for the Bantam and the named enemy types are established here. Avoid treating community labels, old clips, or a single guide’s tier list as measured evidence.
Quick Recap
Decision playbooks for common situations
A Snitch, one heavy ARC, and an open extraction route
- Move into cover so the Snitch cannot keep spotting you in the open.
- Interrupt the Snitch if you can do so without exposing yourself to the heavy unit’s attack.
- If the alarm is already complete or the heavy unit controls the only safe angle, break contact and rotate toward extraction.
- Do not return merely to finish a damaged machine unless it blocks the route or carries an objective-critical reward.
A Leaper is closing while a teammate watches a Snitch
- Call the immediate leap threat so the teammate does not remain focused on the alarm unit.
- Use a corner or hard cover to force the Leaper to commit.
- Have the teammate interrupt the Snitch only from a protected angle.
- Once the leap threat has been neutralized or displaced, reassess whether finishing the Snitch is still safe.
A Bombardier has a Spotter and your squad is in the open
- Stop advancing and move to substantial cover; shooting from the same exposed spot increases risk.
- Separate slightly so one mortar event cannot punish the entire squad, while keeping a route for mutual support.
- Target the exposed weak point or Spotter only when the angle does not require a long exposure.
- If the objective is elsewhere and the bombardment continues, disengage rather than trading health for a low-value clear.
Another Raider reaches the loot first
- Identify whether the Raider has seen you and whether you have cover.
- Estimate the cost of gunfire: it may attract ARC or a second squad.
- Fight only if the loot, route, or extraction timing makes the position necessary.
- Otherwise, rotate, wait for the Raider to leave, or extract with what you already have.
Common priority mistakes
- Treating Bantam as an enemy: the revolver is equipment used against ARC and Raiders, so it does not belong in a list of targets.
- Using a fixed tier list: a machine’s danger changes when it has line of sight, a firing lock, a leap window, or control of your only cover.
- Ignoring the Snitch alarm: finishing a different enemy while the Snitch summons help can create a larger fight than the original contact.
- Standing still for a weak-point shot: a theoretical damage advantage is not worth exposure to mortar, turret, or leap attacks.
- Fighting after the objective is complete: extraction value is often higher than an unnecessary clear, especially when ammunition and healing are limited.
- Assuming old weapon stats are current: the available sources do not provide verified live numerical comparisons for Bantam or enemy health and damage.
A five-second checklist
- Is a Snitch escalating? Break sight and interrupt it if the approach is safe.
- Am I taking immediate damage? Cover or escape comes before a lower-priority target.
- Can a heavy unit or Spotter reach me here? Move before trading shots.
- Does this fight advance the objective? If not, identify the safest route away.
- Is the Bantam suited to this distance and ammunition budget? Use its close-range hip-fire role deliberately, and switch plans when the engagement does not fit it.
