Yes. Renters who lived in the insured home were within the target market for Bank Australia’s former household contents policy. But that RACQ-issued, Honey-distributed product is closed to new policyholders: Bank Australia says it applied to policies bought from 18 October 2024 to 10 October 2025. This review is therefore relevant to existing policyholders, not a sign-up recommendation. Bank Australia’s current insurance information describes a separate relationship with Allianz Australia; the available information does not establish whether that offering accepts renters or has the same terms.
Does Bank Australia contents insurance cover renters?
The former Bank Australia-branded Household Contents Insurance was designed for people seeking cover for contents in a home they owned or rented and lived in. Renters were therefore within its stated target market. That is not a guarantee that every renter, address, item or claim was accepted or covered: eligibility criteria, exclusions, limits and the individual policy documents still apply.

The product was not intended for landlords insuring a tenanted property, contents kept outside Australia, or contents at a home primarily used for business or commercial purposes. The Household Insurance Target Market Determination (TMD) is a high-level description of who the product was designed for and what it generally offered—not a substitute for the contract.

No. Bank Australia says the RACQ-issued, Honey-distributed Bank Australia Insurance product is no longer available to new policyholders. Its published legacy information applies to customers who bought a policy between 18 October 2024 and 10 October 2025. Check Bank Australia’s insurance page for the current distinction between that closed product and its separate Allianz Australia arrangement.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not assume the Allianz offering is open to renters or equivalent to the legacy RACQ/Honey policy: the available information does not establish either point. Anyone considering current cover should check the current product documents and confirm renter eligibility directly before relying on it.
Who issued and distributed the legacy policy?
RACQ Insurance was the insurer for the legacy product. Honey Insurance and Bank Australia acted in distribution or arrangement roles; Bank Australia was not the underwriter. Bank Australia’s current Allianz relationship is a separate arrangement, not a continuation of the same contract. Existing policyholders should use the insurer, servicing details and documents associated with their own policy.

What did the renters’ contents policy cover?
The TMD lists insured-event categories including animal damage, earthquake, explosion, fire, flood, impact, leaks, lightning, riots, storm, storm surge, theft, tsunami and vandalism. It generally describes cover up to the sum insured shown on the Certificate of Insurance, subject to general item limits, exclusions and policy conditions. The list is a summary, not a promise that every loss involving one of those events will be paid.
Other benefits and optional cover
The TMD also lists legal liability up to $20 million and selected benefits such as clean-up costs, contents in storage or transit, extra living expenses, food spoilage, home-office contents, locks, temporary removal, visitor contents and storage costs after an insured event. These benefits have their own sublimits and conditions.

The Key Facts Sheet prepared on 26 November 2024 and effective from 11 December 2024 gives examples of restrictions in the policy. It explicitly says, “THIS IS NOT AN INSURANCE CONTRACT”: the PDS and the policyholder’s other documents set out the complete terms. Check the applicable PDS, any Supplementary PDS (SPDS), Certificate of Insurance and schedule before deciding whether a specific loss is covered.

- Flood and storm: Flood cover has listed property exclusions. Storm damage during renovations is generally not covered, except for specified wind damage.
- Accidental damage: Accidental breakage cover is limited. Accidental damage is optional for some items, and the sheet identifies mobile phones as excluded from the stated accidental-damage cover.
- Electrical damage and leaks: Power surges caused by the electricity provider, or by other causes such as a tree falling on a power line, are excluded in the examples. Damage to the item or device that leaked is also excluded.
- Excesses: An earthquake excess applies in addition to the basic excess. Check the policy schedule for the excesses that apply to the insured event.
- Valuables and items away from home: High-value items and collections need the relevant cover. The sheet’s away-from-home cover does not extend outside Australia and New Zealand.
The sheet gives a $2,000 limit example for cameras and accessories, and a $20 million legal-liability limit per accident. It also describes a 21-day cooling-off period when a policyholder cancels during that period and has not made a claim. These are figures and conditions from that document’s summary, not universal guarantees; the applicable policy version and certificate govern an individual policy.

What should existing policyholders check?
- Find the documents for your policy. Locate the PDS, any SPDS, Certificate of Insurance and schedule that applied when your policy began or was renewed.
- Check the insured home and sum insured. Confirm the address, the contents sum insured, and any item limits shown on your certificate or schedule.
- Check options and listed items. Verify whether optional cover was selected for accidental damage, mobile phones, motor burnout, or specified items, and whether valuables or collections have the cover they need.
- Match the loss to the wording. Review the event definition, exclusions, sublimits and applicable excess rather than relying on a general event list or Key Facts Sheet example.
- Use the claims route attached to your contract. Bank Australia’s live page distinguishes legacy policyholders from current Allianz products. Follow the servicing and claims contact details on your own policy documents or the legacy policyholder links; do not assume a current Allianz claims channel applies to an RACQ-issued contract.
