Bangladesh received $8.798 billion in remittances from July 1 through October 3, 2026, a 15.1% increase from $7.643 billion over the same dates in FY2025–26, according to Bangladesh Bank data reported by Dhaka Tribune on October 5.

What the latest remittance figures cover

The $8.798 billion figure is a cumulative total for July 1–October 3, 2026, the opening months of Bangladesh’s FY2026–27. It is not a full-year total. Dhaka Tribune reported that Bangladesh Bank executive spokesperson Arief Hossain Khan confirmed the data on October 4.

Measure Period Reported figure
Remittances received July 1–October 3, 2026 (FY2026–27) $8.798 billion
Remittances received Corresponding dates in FY2025–26 $7.643 billion
Year-on-year change July 1–October 3, 2026, compared with the same dates a year earlier 15.1% increase

The figures and comparison were reported by Dhaka Tribune, attributing the data to Bangladesh Bank. The percentage describes growth over this matched partial-year period, not growth for the whole fiscal year.

How the total changed since the September snapshot

A September 20 snapshot put cumulative remittances at $7.819 billion, up 14.9% year over year, according to The Financial Express on September 21. The October 3 report is a later snapshot with a higher cumulative total and a slightly higher reported growth rate. These are dated, in-progress readings rather than final annual results.

How to read the FY27 growth target

The Daily Star’s budget coverage described a 15% remittance growth target for FY2026–27. That is a full-year target, distinct from the reported 15.1% increase for July 1–October 3. The partial-year comparison does not establish whether the annual target will be met.

What these figures do not explain

The reported totals establish the scale and same-period change in remittances, but do not identify what caused the increase or break it down by sending country, transfer channel, or other individual factors. The available reporting also does not provide a monthly breakdown. Foreign-reserve figures are a separate indicator and should not be treated as a measure of remittance inflows.
