Verdict: The Beoplay H100 is a luxury over-ear headphone whose strongest case is a combination of premium materials, modular ear and headband parts, adaptive noise-control features, spatial-audio options and a potentially long warranty. Its practical drawbacks are just as important: the US listing researched for this review started at $2,200, the selected listing showed $2,300, battery figures are manufacturer estimates, and Bang & Olufsen says there is no passive mode with all processing disabled. That makes the H100 easier to justify for buyers who value design, serviceability and a feature-rich travel or work headphone than for anyone seeking the best measured performance per dollar.
This review separates documented features from results that would require independent testing. The available material does not establish comparative sound quality, ANC strength, transparency performance, microphone quality, long-session comfort or real-world battery life.

What the Beoplay H100 is, and who it suits
The Beoplay H100 is Bang & Olufsen’s flagship-style over-ear headphone for music, work and travel. The company positions it around titanium drivers, Dolby Atmos optimization, adaptive noise cancellation and a luxury physical design. Each purchase includes a leather pouch, and the product is offered in several colors.

- BUILT FOR THE FUTURE: Designed with replaceability and serviceability at heart, key components can be replaced for longer lasting headphones
- ADVANCED NOISE CANCELLATION: Our most advanced noise cancellation yet, allowing you to fully immerse in studio quality music, every time

The H100 makes the most sense when your priorities include:
- A premium over-ear design and materials rather than a low-cost specification race.
- Adaptive ANC and an adjustable transparency experience for commuting, travel and office use.
- USB audio for high-resolution playback, alongside wireless listening.
- Replaceable, magnet-mounted ear cushions and an inner headband.
- The option of three years of standard warranty coverage, with a possible five-year term after Beocare registration where the local terms allow it.
It is a less obvious choice if you need a true wired, battery-free mode, want independently verified performance numbers before buying, or are comparing value solely by price.
Price, launch context and what is in the box
Bang & Olufsen’s US product page displayed a “From $2,200” price and a selected configuration at $2,300 when this information was gathered. These are volatile US listing figures: color, market, taxes, promotions and the selected configuration can change the amount. Treat them as a current-price checkpoint rather than a worldwide MSRP or a guaranteed offer.

How the H100’s noise control works
Bang & Olufsen describes the H100’s system as hybrid Adaptive ANC. External microphones provide feed-forward sensing, while internal microphones provide feedback. The company says its algorithm adapts to changing ambient noise. It also credits the memory-foam and leather earcups with passive isolation.
That description explains the architecture, not the size of the benefit. No independent measurements were established for this review, so there is no defensible claim about how many decibels the H100 removes, how it compares with other premium headphones, or how well it handles voices, aircraft engines or wind.

Changing the ANC and transparency balance
TrueTransparency is Bang & Olufsen’s name for its ambient-hearing mode. The company says the left dial adjusts the balance between ANC and transparency. A button can switch modes quickly, and some controls can be customized in the Bang & Olufsen app.
The support guide also describes two context-sensitive shortcuts: placing your palm over the glass surface to invoke transparency, and lifting an earcup to pause content and activate transparency. These gestures can be useful when speaking to someone, but the exact behavior and available customization depend on the current app configuration.
Can you disable Active Noise Cancellation on the Beoplay H100?
Not completely. Bang & Olufsen states that the H100 has no passive mode. The company’s explanation is that the headphone uses ANC-related processing for Earsense, music compensation and reduction of the occlusion effect; in its view, a passive setting would not fit the intended ANC-to-transparency experience.
This matters for two groups. A listener who wants every digital process bypassed cannot get that state from the H100 as documented. A listener who simply wants less isolation can use the ANC/transparency controls instead, but that is still an active electronic mode. If battery-free wired listening is a requirement, confirm the return policy and local support terms before purchase.
Battery life: what the published figures actually mean
Bang & Olufsen quotes maximum figures under specified use cases. They are not independent measurements, and the company says volume, music intensity and equalizer settings affect endurance.
Recommended Free Tools
| Use case | Bang & Olufsen’s estimate | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Playback with ANC | Up to 32 hours | Measured by the manufacturer at moderate volume |
| Playback with Spatial Audio and Head Tracking | Up to 30 hours | Manufacturer estimate; processing and content affect duration |
| Calls only | Up to 26 hours | Manufacturer estimate for call use |
The 32-hour number is therefore a ceiling for the stated test condition, not a promise that every owner will see 32 hours. Higher volume, demanding music, equalizer changes, voice calls and spatial processing can reduce the interval between charges. If you travel, plan around the lower figure that matches your actual mode instead of treating the headline number as universal.

What is the Bluetooth range of the Beoplay H100?
Bang & Olufsen specifies up to 10 metres of Bluetooth range in line of sight. Nearby active wireless devices can affect the connection, according to the support guidance. Walls, people, metal structures and radio congestion can reduce usable distance, so the quoted figure is best understood as an unobstructed maximum rather than an indoor guarantee.
For a desk, keep the source device reasonably close and avoid placing it behind a computer tower, in a drawer or beside several active wireless transmitters. If audio cuts out, move the source into line of sight before assuming the headphone is defective.
Spatial Audio and Head Tracking options
The H100 offers three Spatial Audio settings:
| Setting | Intended source | Head Tracking |
|---|---|---|
| Off | Unprocessed listening | Unavailable because Spatial Audio is off |
| Virtualise | Stereo sources | Can be enabled or disabled |
| Immersive | Dolby Atmos sources | Can be enabled or disabled |
Dolby Atmos availability depends on the streaming service and, in some cases, a premium subscription. A service that offers an Atmos tier does not make every track an Atmos mix, so check the service’s own catalog and plan terms. Spatial processing also has a published battery cost: the estimate falls from up to 32 hours with ANC to up to 30 hours with Spatial Audio and Head Tracking.

How to play high-resolution audio on the H100
Bang & Olufsen supports high-resolution playback over USB audio. The company’s support instructions require three parts: the H100’s Hi-Res option in the Bang & Olufsen app, the source device’s audio configuration and a streaming app or player that supplies compatible material.
- Connect the H100 to the source device with a USB audio connection.
- Open the Bang & Olufsen app and enable the Hi-Res option.
- Configure the operating system or mobile device for the desired USB audio output.
- Set the streaming service or player to its high-resolution tier or quality setting.
- Start playback and confirm that the source is using the H100’s USB audio path rather than Bluetooth.
Bang & Olufsen provides device-specific notes for iOS and iPadOS, Android, Windows and macOS. Follow the instructions for your operating system, because USB permissions, output selection and app behavior differ by platform.

- Extended Battery Life: Up to 38 hours of playtime on a single charge, with ANC switched on. A powerful battery lets Beoplay H95 push boundaries and maximise uptime
- Advanced Noise Cancellation: Our most advanced adaptive, active noise cancellation lets you concentrate on the music. Tune out background noise and immerse yourself in the moment
- Premium Sound Quality: Two 40mm titanium drivers with neodymium magnets, specially selected and customised for precise and powerful sound. Redefine grab-and-go listening
- Crystal Clear Calls: Four built-in microphones for crystal clear voice calls. Chat with friends, family and colleagues, confident you'll be heard
- Luxurious Comfort Design: Soft to the touch, sturdy in build. Titanium, lambskin leather and memory foam crafted into extremely comfortable headphones with an elegant, foldable design
The company explicitly says enabling Hi-Res does not create an audible benefit when listening over Bluetooth or Line-in. In those connections, the Hi-Res toggle is not a way to bypass the connection’s own limitations. Use USB audio when the goal is the documented high-resolution path.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Wired listening and the practical effect of no passive mode
USB audio gives the H100 a documented wired high-resolution route. Bang & Olufsen also refers to Line-in listening in its support explanation. However, the absence of a passive mode means a cable does not automatically turn the H100 into an unpowered conventional headphone. Its processing architecture remains part of the product experience as described by the manufacturer.
For a desktop setup, USB is the clearest choice when you want the documented Hi-Res option. For a device that only offers an analog output, check the required cable and the H100’s behavior with that connection before relying on it for a long flight or an emergency backup. The available material does not establish a battery-free operating time or a universal cable configuration.
Comfort, fit and materials: what is known and what is not
The H100 uses over-ear memory-foam and leather earcups, and Bang & Olufsen says those materials contribute passive isolation. The inner headband is also designed as a removable component. These details indicate a premium materials strategy and a serviceability objective.
They do not establish that the H100 will fit every head comfortably for eight-hour sessions. No independent comfort, clamp-force, heat buildup, glasses compatibility or weight testing was available for this review. If long-session comfort is decisive, buy from a seller with a clear return window or try the headphone in person. Pay attention to earcup depth, seal around glasses and pressure at the crown during your own trial.

Maintenance and replaceable parts
Bang & Olufsen documents magnet-mounted ear cushions and a magnet-mounted inner headband. The cushions pull off, and the company specifies left and right orientation when reinstalling them. This is useful for cleaning and eventual replacement.

Removability is not the same as complete user repairability. The documentation does not establish that every internal component is user-serviceable, that third-party parts will fit, or what replacement cushions and headbands will cost in each market. Use genuine H100-compatible parts, confirm orientation before pressing a cushion back into place, and ask local support about availability before buying the headphone on the assumption that every part will remain stocked indefinitely.
Warranty and Beocare registration
Bang & Olufsen’s limited-warranty page lists three years of standard H100 coverage. It also says registration through Beocare in the Bang & Olufsen app can extend coverage to five years. The annual report references the same five-year possibility.
Warranty duration and conditions can vary by geography, seller, proof of purchase and the exact registration rules. Confirm the current terms for your market, keep the receipt and complete any registration within the stated window. A five-year term should be treated as conditional until your product and region qualify; it is not automatically included with every purchase.
How to judge the H100 against other premium headphones
The H100’s price makes comparison unavoidable, but the available evidence cannot name a performance winner. Use the following checklist when comparing it with another flagship over-ear model:
- Current price: compare the exact color, country, taxes and seller rather than a headline figure from another market.
- ANC and transparency: look for measurements made with the same test method, not just manufacturer descriptions.
- Battery: compare a consistent test condition, including ANC state, volume, codec, spatial processing and call use.
- Comfort: check long-session fit, heat, clamp and glasses compatibility through a returnable purchase or hands-on trial.
- Calls: seek independent microphone recordings or tests if voice quality matters for work.
- Wired support: verify USB audio behavior, analog input requirements and whether the headphone works when its battery is depleted.
- Controls and software: check app support, gesture customization, firmware history and how quickly you can switch ANC modes.
- Repairability: confirm which parts can be replaced, their local prices and whether authorized service exists.
- Warranty: compare the coverage period and exclusions in your country, not the headline term from another region.
Until those tests and terms are matched, a lower-priced competitor may be better value for one buyer while the H100’s modular parts and warranty may matter more to another. The documentation reviewed here supports feature and policy comparisons, not a measured ranking.
Setup checklist for a new H100
- Check the product page for your country, chosen color and final checkout price.
- Install the Bang & Olufsen app and pair the H100.
- Review ANC and TrueTransparency behavior, then set the left-dial balance that suits your environment.
- Test the palm-over-glass transparency gesture and earcup-lift pause action; customize controls in the app if available.
- Choose Spatial Audio Off, Virtualise or Immersive, and decide whether Head Tracking belongs on for your content.
- For USB high-resolution playback, enable Hi-Res in the app and select the H100 as the source device’s USB output.
- Register for Beocare if your market offers the extension, and save proof of purchase.
- Learn how the magnetic cushions and inner headband release before you need to clean or replace them.
- Run your own comfort and battery check during the return period, because published maximums and general fit descriptions cannot predict your experience.
Bottom line: should you buy the Beoplay H100?
Buy the Beoplay H100 if you specifically want a luxury over-ear headphone with adaptive ANC, adjustable transparency, Dolby Atmos-oriented spatial modes, USB high-resolution playback and a modular maintenance story. The potential five-year Beocare term can also be meaningful for an expensive product, provided your market and registration meet the conditions.
Pause before buying if you require passive, battery-free listening, need independently measured ANC or microphone results, or judge headphones primarily by cost-per-feature. At a US displayed price of $2,200 to $2,300, the H100 demands that its design, serviceability and ownership experience matter as much to you as raw audio specifications. The right decision depends on those priorities, not on treating the manufacturer’s maximum battery figures or feature descriptions as independent test results.
