The $379 figure shown on BALMUDA USA is a price snapshot, not a permanent price. The company’s moisture-retention and crisp-surface benefits are manufacturer claims; RTINGS’ 5.7 Mixed Usage score and its description of a capable but narrowly targeted toaster oven provide the independent assessment.

How the steam system works
Steam is the defining feature of the toast programs. BALMUDA specifies 5cc of water for its steam-toast modes and says the steam helps retain moisture inside the bread while the exterior becomes crisp. That explanation is a claim from the manufacturer; RTINGS’ review does not establish a controlled comparison against ordinary heating.
Using the supplied cup
The package includes a 5cc cup. For a steam mode, measure the specified amount with that cup and add the water at the point shown in the instruction manual before starting the cycle. Select the appropriate bread mode, set the timer, and let the program run without opening the door unless you need to stop it. Oven mode is steam-free, so it does not use the water step.
What the steam claim means in practice
Steam is most relevant to bread that benefits from a moist center and crisp crust: thick slices, enriched pastries and reheated baked goods. It does not turn the appliance into a steamer, and adding water does not increase its physical capacity. If you want dry, conventional heat for roasting or baking, use Oven mode instead of a steam-toast setting.
Six modes, with different jobs
The US page lists six named modes. Oven contains three temperature choices, while Salamander Grill is a separate short-duration top-heat function.
Shokupan
Shokupan is the program aimed at soft, thick Japanese-style sandwich bread. The relevant practical constraint is the 2.2-inch maximum bread height. Measure unusually tall slices before buying rather than assuming a thick-cut loaf will clear the rack and heating area.

Golden Toast
Golden Toast is the general toast setting for standard slices. BALMUDA’s even-toasting statement applies to the product as a whole, but it remains a company claim rather than an independently verified result.
Pizza
The Pizza mode is intended for reheating or crisping pizza portions sized for this compact cavity. A large delivery slice may need trimming or folding; the stated interior width and depth are the relevant limits.
Croissant
Croissant mode is designed for delicate laminated pastries that can dry out or burn under aggressive heat. Use it for appropriately sized pastries and follow the guide book’s timing recommendations for your portion size.
Oven
Oven mode runs without steam at 350°F, 400°F or 450°F. It is the mode to choose for ordinary baking and reheating when you do not want the steam-toast process. The small interior and single fixed rack position limit the quantity and shapes you can cook at once.
Salamander Grill
Salamander Grill supplies concentrated top heat for 1–3 minutes. It is useful for quickly browning a surface, melting cheese or finishing a dish. Treat it as a finishing function, not as a substitute for a broiler with adjustable rack heights.
Will it fit your bread and counter?
Counter footprint
The outside measures 14.1 inches wide, 12.8 inches deep and 8.2 inches high. Measure the usable counter area, not just the appliance shelf: leave room to open the door, operate the controls and route the approximately 3.3-foot cord to a suitable outlet. Keep the top and sides clear according to the manual’s safety instructions, especially because the enclosure and exhaust areas become hot.
Bread clearance
The interior is 10.8 inches wide by 8.1 inches deep by 7.0 inches high, with a maximum bread height of 2.2 inches. Those figures favor ordinary sandwich slices, small pastries and individual pizza portions. A tall artisan slice, oversized focaccia or a large casserole can exceed the usable clearance even if it fits through the door.

How many slices?
BALMUDA answers its US product FAQ with two slices. No third-party source reports a capacity measurement, so do not treat the two-slice statement as a laboratory result or assume a third slice will toast evenly.
What independent testing says
RTINGS published its BALMUDA The Toaster Pro review on September 4, 2026 and assigned a 5.7 Mixed Usage score. That is RTINGS’ product-review result, not a population statistic.
RTINGS characterizes the Pro as a compact, premium toaster oven centered on steam toasting. Its summary says the appliance bakes well and reheats leftovers reliably, while also describing it as a narrow fit for buyers seeking broad toaster-oven versatility. RTINGS notes a fixed rack position and the absence of a baking tray in the box.
Those findings put the marketing story in context. The appliance can handle more than toast, but its strongest case is still bread and small portions. A buyer who expects multiple levels, large sheet pans or flexible positioning should weigh the fixed rack and compact cavity before paying a premium.
Does it include a baking tray?
No baking tray is listed among the US box contents. The package includes the toaster, 5cc cup, toasting rack, guide book and manual. BALMUDA sells a separate Toaster Pro Baking Tray with Rack.

The accessory page distinguishes that rack from a grilling grate: it is not meant to serve as a grilling rack. Confirm the exact compatibility and current price for your K11H model before ordering, particularly if a tray is essential to how you cook.
BALMUDA also lists a 5cc replacement cup for The Toaster and The Toaster Pro, plus a Toaster Pro-specific rack. Those are replacement parts, not extra cooking capacity. Keep the model designation handy when checking compatibility.

Toaster versus Toaster Pro: what can be verified
The available US material establishes the Pro’s six named modes, including Oven and Salamander Grill, its 5cc steam process, K11H model numbers and the separate tray accessory. It does not provide a complete, current side-by-side specification sheet for every US model sold under the non-Pro name.
That means it would be misleading to assign the base Toaster a different wattage, capacity, control layout or performance without a matching source. If you are deciding between the two, compare the live US listings for the exact model numbers and look specifically at mode list, rack configuration, included cookware, electrical rating and warranty terms. The Pro’s documented differentiators are its broader six-mode list and dedicated Salamander Grill function; available US listings do not establish a universal price or feature gap for every other Toaster variant.
US model versus the 2026 Japan model
Do not import specifications from Japanese listings into a US purchase. BALMUDA Japan announced renewed Toaster and Toaster Pro models on September 29, 2026. Its support page identifies the Japan Pro as KTT03JP, with KTT03JP-BK, KTT03JP-WH and KTT03JP-BC variants, rated at 100 V and 1,300 W for domestic Japan use.
The Japan listing names Toast, Cheese Toast, Bakery, Sourdough, Steam Deli, Classic and Salamander modes. That mode set differs from the US K11H page. See the Japan announcement, KTT03JP support specifications and Japan Pro model page for that market’s information.
A 100 V domestic-Japan appliance is not automatically electrically compatible with a US 120 V outlet, and Japanese pages do not establish US warranty, returns or support terms. Buy the US K11H specification when you need a US-market appliance.
Price, shipping and purchase checks
BALMUDA USA showed a $379 price on the cited product page. The page described free shipping and returns in the contiguous United States, with standard ground delivery typically taking 5–7 business days. These are changeable commercial terms, so verify them at checkout rather than relying on a saved price or delivery estimate.

- Choose the color and seller. Match the listed color code to the unit you intend to receive and check that the seller is authorized for US support.
- Check live price and stock. The $379 figure is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee.
- Review returns and delivery. Confirm that your ZIP code is in the stated contiguous-US service area and note the current return window.
- Budget for cookware. If you need a tray, add the separately sold Baking Tray with Rack and verify compatibility before purchase.
Setup and first-use checklist
- Measure the location. Compare your counter’s usable width, depth and height with the published exterior dimensions, then account for door swing, ventilation and cord routing.
- Verify the outlet. The US unit is rated 120 V, 60 Hz and 1,300 W. Use a properly grounded outlet that can support the load; avoid relying on an overloaded extension arrangement.
- Install the rack as directed. Use the supplied toasting rack and read the manual before inserting any accessory tray.
- Pick the correct mode. Use Shokupan or Golden Toast for bread, Pizza or Croissant for those foods, Oven for steam-free baking and Salamander Grill only for brief top browning.
- Measure water for steam modes. Fill the supplied cup to 5cc and add it at the location specified by the manual. Skip the water step in Oven mode.
- Set the timer. The standard timer offers 1–10 minutes and 15 minutes; Salamander Grill is limited to 1–3 minutes. Start conservatively with unfamiliar bread and adjust on the next cycle.
- Stay nearby. Small slices and sugary toppings can brown quickly, particularly under Salamander Grill. Stop the cycle if food approaches the desired color before the timer ends.
- Clean after cooling. Remove crumbs and wipe accessible surfaces only when the appliance is cool and unplugged, following the manual’s cleaning restrictions.
Common fit and cooking problems
The bread does not fit
Check the 2.2-inch maximum height and the interior width and depth. Compressing or forcing a slice against the door is unsafe and can produce uneven heating. Use thinner slices or a smaller portion instead.

The toast is too dark
Reduce the timer on the next cycle and avoid Salamander Grill unless you are deliberately finishing a surface. Sugar-rich breads and pastries color faster than plain sandwich bread.
The center seems dry
Confirm that you selected a steam-toast mode and measured the 5cc water amount correctly. Oven mode is intentionally steam-free. If the bread itself is unusually thin or stale, the program cannot restore its original texture completely.
A dish needs more room
The fixed rack and compact cavity are hard limits. A separate tray can make certain foods easier to handle, but it does not enlarge the oven. For family-size portions or multiple levels, choose a larger countertop oven category instead.

Salamander Grill is a 1–3-minute top-heat setting, not a full broiler with broad rack-height adjustment. Use it for finishing and monitor the food closely.
Who should buy it?
It is a strong match if you:
- Make toast, thick bread or pastries frequently and value a dedicated steam-assisted process.
- Have room for a roughly 14-inch-wide appliance but not a large toaster oven.
- Usually cook one or two portions at a time.
- Want an Oven setting and short top-browning function without moving to a much larger appliance.
- Accept that a baking tray is an additional purchase.
Choose another type of appliance if you:
- Need to toast more than two slices in one batch.
- Cook large pizzas, casseroles, sheet-pan meals or several dishes simultaneously.
- Require multiple rack positions or a supplied baking pan.
- Prefer simple conventional heating and do not want to measure water for selected programs.
- Need a non-US electrical model; the US K11H is not the same product as the 100 V Japan KTT03JP.
Bottom-line buying decision
The BALMUDA The Toaster Pro is a specialized premium toaster oven rather than a universal countertop cooker. Its documented strengths are compact two-slice operation, a six-mode US program set, steam-toast functionality using 5cc of water, and a dedicated Salamander Grill setting. Its compromises are the small cooking area, fixed rack position, separate tray purchase and a price that was listed at $379 when the US page was captured.
Buy it when those bread-first priorities match your kitchen and habits. Skip it when capacity, flexibility or one-pan cooking matters more than the steam-focused toast experience.
