After the boost, qualifying accounts earn 4.21% APY on the first $249,999.99 in savings at the rates displayed in October 2026. The offer is temporary, the rates can change, and the best fit depends on whether you can meet the requirements without rearranging your finances.
What Axos ONE pays
Axos ONE combines a checking account and a savings account. Axos Bank’s rate page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the following variable APYs; the page says the displayed rates were accurate as of October 6, 2026. Rates may change, so verify the current terms before opening an account.

| Rate situation | Checking APY | Savings APY |
|---|---|---|
| Base rate | 0.00% | Up to 1.00% |
| Qualifying statement cycle | 0.51% | 4.21% on the first $249,999.99; 3.50% on additional balance |
| Eligible new-customer boost, first six statement cycles | 0.51% when requirements are met | 5.00% on the first $49,999.99; 4.21% from $50,000 through $249,999.99 |
The boost adds 0.79 percentage points to the qualifying savings rate for the first $49,999.99. It does not make 5.00% the ongoing rate or apply that rate to the entire balance. After the promotional period, the qualifying-cycle rate applies if you continue to meet the monthly tests; otherwise the base rate applies. Axos says fees may reduce earnings and that rates are variable and set at its discretion. See Axos ONE account and rate terms and Axos Bank’s rate disclosure.
How to qualify for the 5.00% APY
To receive the qualifying rates in a statement cycle, satisfy both requirements in either option below. The options are alternatives; deposits by themselves are not enough.
#1 Best Overall
| Option | Monthly deposit requirement | Average daily checking balance |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | At least $1,500 in qualifying direct deposits | At least $1,500 |
| 2 | At least $5,000 in qualifying deposits | At least $5,000 |
The $1,500 option uses a narrower definition of direct deposit than the $5,000 qualifying-deposit option. Axos defines direct deposit as electronic ACH deposits of a paycheck or government benefits, such as Social Security or disability benefits. International paychecks and benefits do not count, nor do transfers, ATM or mobile check deposits, real-time payments, or person-to-person payments.
For the separate $5,000 option, eligible deposits can include external ACH transfers, inbound wire transfers, mobile check deposits, and real-time payments. Axos excludes internal transfers, interest, promotional bonuses, credits, reversals, refunds, and ATM deposits from this category. Check Axos’s definitions if your deposit method is not clearly listed. Review Axos’s qualification definitions.

When the qualification period runs
For established accounts, the qualification period normally begins on the first business day of the month and ends on the 25th. Deposits and other transactions must post and clear by the 25th; later transactions count toward the next period. A new account’s period begins on approval. Accounts opened on or after the 25th become eligible for the promotional APY starting the following month. Axos explains the qualification-period rules.
Who can get the introductory boost
The October 2026 APY Boost is for eligible new customers who open a new Axos ONE bundle, meet the monthly requirements, and maintain an average daily savings balance of $249,999.99 or less. The offer applies to accounts created October 1–31, 2026, and lasts for the first six statement cycles, including the cycle in which the account is opened.
Rank #3
- Prior Axos Bank or UFB Direct account holders are ineligible, according to the offer terms.
- A primary account holder may receive only one APY Boost under this or another boost promotion in a 12-month period.
- The 5.00% rate applies only to the first $49,999.99 of savings. The next tier, from $50,000 through $249,999.99, earns 4.21% at the rates displayed when researched.
- Axos may change or withdraw the promotion, and the APYs are variable.
These are offer-specific terms, not a guarantee that the same promotion will be available later. Read the October 2026 APY Boost terms.
What happens after the boost
After six statement cycles, the temporary extra 0.79 percentage points ends. If you continue meeting either qualification option, the savings rate reverts to the qualifying rate listed by Axos—4.21% APY on the first $249,999.99 and 3.50% on additional balance in the October 2026 rate snapshot. Without qualification, the base savings rate is up to 1.00%. Because Axos can change rates, these figures describe the published October 2026 terms, not a forecast of what you will earn later.

Is Axos ONE worth it for your situation?
The introductory rate is most useful when you are eligible for the promotion, can consistently meet one of the deposit-and-balance options, and keep most of the savings balance within the 5.00% tier during the six-cycle period. The ongoing qualifying rate may matter more than the headline boost if you plan to keep the account longer.

Before applying, compare offers using the same savings balance and separate the promotional period from the ongoing rate. Check these points:
Best Value
- Your eligible deposit source: Confirm whether your pay or benefit qualifies as direct deposit, or whether you need to use the separate $5,000 qualifying-deposit route.
- Your checking balance: Determine whether you can maintain the required average daily balance each qualification period without giving up a better use for that money.
- Your likely savings balance: Apply each rate tier to the portion of your balance it covers, rather than assuming the top rate applies to every dollar.
- Your time horizon: Compare the six-cycle boost separately from the rate available after it ends.
- Current terms: Recheck APYs, offer dates, eligibility rules, and fees before opening; variable rates and promotional terms can change.
Fees, opening deposit, and account basics
Axos advertises no monthly maintenance fees, no minimum balance requirements, and no overdraft fees for Axos ONE. Both the checking and savings accounts have a $0 minimum opening deposit. Axos also advertises direct deposit up to two days early. That is a product feature, not a guarantee that every employer or payment will arrive early. See the Axos ONE account overview and Axos’s account opening guide.
