Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If audio and video are out of sync in a YouTube stream sent through AWS Elemental MediaLive, there is no documented universal MediaLive setting that fixes it. First identify where the offset begins: in the source, in MediaLive’s output, or only in YouTube playback. Selecting an Indian-language audio track is not established as a cause of delay; check that the intended track is selected, then trace the signal through each stage.
First, locate where the sync delay begins
Compare the same recognizable event—such as a spoken syllable paired with a visible mouth movement—at the source, MediaLive output, and YouTube playback. Note whether audio leads or lags and estimate the offset at each point. This is a practical diagnostic approach, not a prescribed AWS test procedure.

- Check the source. Inspect the incoming program before MediaLive. If its audio and video are already offset, correct or retime the source upstream.
- Check MediaLive’s output. Compare an output capture with the source. If the source is aligned but the output is not, inspect the channel’s input, selectors, and encode configuration before changing a setting.
- Check YouTube playback. If the MediaLive output is aligned but playback is not, investigate the downstream ingest or playback path. Confirm the difference with a direct output capture rather than assuming MediaLive is responsible.
AWS documentation does not establish a YouTube-specific offset value or universal setting for this symptom. A channel-specific fix depends on where the offset first appears and on the actual configuration.
Verify the audio selector and language track
MediaLive audio selectors choose audio sources for an output, including separate language tracks. Confirm that the selector feeding the output points to the intended track. If the program carries several languages, verify the selected source against the actual incoming audio rather than relying only on a track label. AWS documentation does not identify Indian languages as a cause of audio/video sync delay. AWS MediaLive audio selectors

Understand what pipeline locking does—and does not do
MediaLive pipeline locking concerns alignment between its two redundant encoding pipelines. It is not documented as a correction for the audio-to-video offset viewers hear. Metrics such as InputVideoAligned and PipelinesLocked, when applicable, indicate pipeline alignment state; they do not directly measure viewer-perceived audio/video sync.
Source-timecode locking
This method depends on reliable embedded source timecodes. Check that the input actually provides usable timecodes before treating this as an option.

- Fine-tune your system with a 15-band graphic EQ, parametric EQ, active crossover, delay alignment and limiter for clear, balanced, professional-quality sound.
- Features RCA and High-Level inputs, making it easy to integrate with OEM factory stereos or aftermarket head units without sacrificing sound quality.
- Customize every speaker with HPF and LPF filters, multiple crossover slopes and routing options for precise frequency distribution.
- The integrated Anti-Pop System helps eliminate unwanted turn-on and turn-off noises, while clip indicators and limiter protect your audio system.
- Ideal for custom car audio systems, active speaker setups and OEM upgrades with professional DSP tuning in one compact processor.
Video-alignment locking
This method compares visual signatures and does not require embedded timecodes. It requires compatible inputs and the same video content on both pipelines. AWS lists HLS, RTMP_PULL, and file inputs as incompatible with video-aligned locking; for those inputs, locking runs open loop. Check the applicable input and pipeline state in the AWS MediaLive pipeline-locking guidance.

Keep timestamps separate from timecodes
AWS says, “MediaLive attaches a timestamp to all output content.” Downstream systems use timestamps for synchronization; timecodes are separate identifiers. Output timecode can be initialized from embedded timecode, UTC, or zero-based time. An optional output-timecode synchronization threshold concerns matching output timecode with input timecode and can create timecode discontinuities; AWS does not document it as a general audio-delay control. See About timecodes and timestamps and Output timecode.

Information to collect before changing the channel
- Input type, and whether audio and video arrive multiplexed or separately.
- The audio selector and the selected language track.
- Output group and destination mode.
- Whether audio leads or lags, and the estimated offset.
- Whether the offset is present at the source, MediaLive output, or only YouTube playback.
These details distinguish an upstream source problem from an encoding/configuration issue or a downstream playback issue. Without them, prescribing a specific MediaLive setting would be guesswork. If you cannot isolate the stage, seek help from a qualified AWS MediaLive or YouTube live-streaming engineer and provide these observations.
