Avatar: Seven Havens comes after The Legend of Korra in the animated Avatar continuity. Its central character, Pavi, is the new Avatar who follows Korra. The story begins after a devastating cataclysm has shattered the world, leaving many people convinced that the Avatar is humanity’s destroyer rather than its protector.
The official announcements confirm that succession, but they do not give a settled number of years between Korra and Seven Havens. Until an official source supplies one, the accurate description is simply “after Korra.”

This is the animated franchise timeline. Live-action adaptations are separate productions and do not change where Seven Havens belongs in the animated sequence.

The table shows narrative succession, not a complete historical chronology. The official announcements reviewed do not specify the exact dates of Aang’s, Korra’s or Pavi’s eras in a shared calendar, nor do they state how many years separate the second and third series.
How long after The Legend of Korra is Seven Havens?
There is no officially confirmed year count in the announcements from Nickelodeon or Paramount. A secondary explainer published by GamesRadar+ on October 4, 2026 offers an estimate, but that figure is not corroborated by the primary announcements. It should not be presented as established canon.
For now, use “the next Avatar after Korra” or “a later era following The Legend of Korra.” That wording communicates the confirmed relationship without turning an unverified estimate into a fact. A future production statement, episode, reference book or other primary source could narrow the gap, but the currently announced premise does not.
What has happened to the world before Seven Havens begins?
The new series opens after a devastating cataclysm has shattered the world. The surviving society is organized around seven havens, and the Avatar is no longer broadly regarded as a savior. Instead, people blame the Avatar for the disaster and treat the figure as a threat to humanity.

That is the premise’s social reality, not proof that Korra personally caused the cataclysm. The official descriptions say that people in this era view the Avatar as humanity’s destroyer; they do not identify the event’s cause or establish that Korra was responsible. Keeping those points separate matters when placing the series on the timeline.
The setting therefore represents more than a routine change of Avatar. It is a damaged post-cataclysm world in which the institution or idea of the Avatar has lost public trust. Pavi must operate under that hostility while trying to understand what happened and why the Seven Havens need saving.

Pavi
Pavi is a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the new Avatar after Korra. Her identity places her at the next point in the Avatar succession, but the announcement does not provide an exact birth year or an age for the time jump.
Nisha
Nisha is Pavi’s long-lost twin. The sisters are central to the mystery of their origins and to the effort to save the Seven Havens. Their relationship gives the series a personal investigation alongside its larger post-cataclysm conflict.
The announced cast
Paramount’s September 10, 2026 release identifies Saheli Khan as Pavi and Aishu Devan as Nisha. The same announcement lists Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

The premise says Pavi is hunted by both human and spirit enemies. She must work with Nisha to uncover their origins and protect the Seven Havens, so the sisters’ search is tied directly to the world’s survival rather than being a separate family subplot.

Nickelodeon announced two books, each containing 13 half-hour episodes. The planned series total is therefore 26 episodes across two books. Paramount’s September 10, 2026 announcement provides the following Book 1 rollout:

Paramount identifies Paramount+ as the show’s global premiere service. Availability, catalog presentation and launch timing can still vary by territory, so a local Paramount+ listing is the practical check for viewers outside the announced market information.

- Start with Avatar: The Last Airbender. This introduces the world, its elemental disciplines and Aang’s role as Avatar. Nickelodeon’s franchise description counts 61 episodes over three seasons.
- Continue with The Legend of Korra. It is the animated spinoff and the immediate predecessor to Seven Havens in the announced continuity.
- Watch Seven Havens after Korra. Pavi is explicitly the Avatar who follows Korra, so the new series is not a prequel to either earlier animated show.
You can begin Seven Havens without having watched every earlier episode, because its premise introduces Pavi, Nisha and the shattered world. Watching the predecessors first is more useful for understanding what the Avatar traditionally represents and why the new era’s hostility toward that role is such a major reversal.
What the announcements do not establish
Several common timeline claims go beyond the confirmed material:
- No official elapsed-time number: the primary announcements say Pavi comes after Korra but do not state “X years later.”
- No confirmed cause of the cataclysm: the premise describes a world-shattering disaster but does not say what caused it.
- No confirmation that Korra caused the disaster: public blame directed at the Avatar is a feature of the setting, not evidence of Korra’s responsibility.
- No complete Book 2 schedule: the announced dates cover Book 1 only.
- No indication that the live-action adaptations alter this order: the sequence above concerns the animated continuity.
These limits do not make the placement ambiguous. They define it precisely: Seven Havens is a later animated chapter with a new Avatar, while the distance in years and the history of the cataclysm remain open parts of the story.

The phrase identifies more than the next show to watch. It means the series inherits a world in which Korra’s era has already ended and a new person has entered the Avatar role. Pavi is not another version of Korra and is not a younger Aang; she is the successor described by the official premise.
It also frames the story’s central tension. In the earlier animated adventures, the Avatar is generally expected to preserve balance and help people. In Seven Havens, Pavi must do that work while people hunt her and call the Avatar humanity’s destroyer. The cataclysm and the seven-haven setting turn the usual public mission into a question of trust, identity and responsibility.

Pavi and Nisha’s search for their origins gives that question a family dimension. Their investigation can reveal why the sisters were separated, how Pavi’s Avatar identity fits the new society and what the Seven Havens need from them. The official synopsis establishes those goals without revealing the answers, so claims about the disaster’s true origin or the twins’ full history should wait for the series itself.
The confirmed production context
Nickelodeon’s February 20, 2025 announcement presented Seven Havens as an expansion of the Avatar world created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The announcement attributes this statement jointly to the original creators: “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later.”
That context places the new show within the franchise’s continuing animated expansion, while the explicit “after Korra” wording supplies the timeline position readers need. It does not substitute for a year-by-year chronology, and no such detailed chronology has been announced.
