Short answer: the clearest documented Australian options are a specific Mini-ITX system from BYB Computers and a custom-build service from Cataclysm Computers that can be asked to quote an SFF machine. BYB’s page showed a Ryzen 7 9800X3D/GeForce RTX 5070 Ti configuration in a Fractal Terra Silver case for AUD 4,499 on 13 October 2026. Cataclysm documents hand-built systems, stress testing, free Australia-wide shipping and a three-year warranty, but does not publish a dedicated SFF catalogue or a current Mini-ITX quote.

That is enough to create a useful shortlist, not a defensible national ranking. Treat every price, stock status, delivery estimate and warranty statement below as a page snapshot and obtain the exact parts list and written service terms before paying.

What you can actually buy with confidence

Small-form-factor (SFF) gaming PCs are not interchangeable with ordinary desktop towers. The case determines which graphics cards, coolers, power supplies, storage devices and motherboard layouts will fit, and those choices affect heat, noise, upgrade space and serviceability. A builder that will not identify the exact chassis and component models leaves you unable to check those constraints.

The evidence currently supports one named, orderable-looking Mini-ITX configuration and one documented custom-build workflow:

BYB Computers AMD Mini-ITX PC with Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD and a Fractal Terra Silver chassis; page says built and tested in Sydney. AUD 4,499 observed on 13 October 2026. This is the price of that listed configuration, not a market average. Page title advertises Australia-wide delivery and a two-year warranty. Confirm current stock, freight and terms before ordering.
Cataclysm Computers Customer-specified systems, hand-built in Melbourne and stress-tested. The page does not establish a dedicated SFF range, so request a Mini-ITX quote. Usual starting point around AUD 2,000; average order-to-built time about five business days. The page says busy periods can range from one or two days to two or three weeks. These figures are not an SFF quote or guaranteed delivery date. Three-year warranty. For approved warranty repairs, the company says it arranges and pays courier costs both ways, and it ships Australia-wide free.

No common benchmark, acoustic test, thermal test protocol or like-for-like price comparison was established for these offers. You therefore cannot responsibly declare one a performance or value winner from the published information alone.

BYB Computers: a concrete Mini-ITX reference build

What the listing contains

BYB’s listed AMD Mini-ITX PC is useful because it names the principal parts instead of describing the machine only as a generic gaming computer. The configuration shown when accessed on 13 October 2026 was:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor
  • GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB of memory
  • 32GB DDR5 system memory
  • 2TB solid-state drive
  • Fractal Terra Silver chassis

The page describes the system as built and tested in Sydney. Its title advertises Australia-wide delivery and a two-year warranty. The displayed price was AUD 4,499 on that access date.

How to use that price

AUD 4,499 is a reference for the complete specification above, not evidence of the average Australian SFF price or proof that the parts are the cheapest way to obtain equivalent performance. Prices can change with component supply, currency movements, tax treatment, promotions and substitutions. Ask BYB to confirm the exact graphics-card manufacturer and model, motherboard, memory kit, SSD model, power-supply model, cooler and case fans; those details can materially change fit, noise and longevity while leaving the headline CPU and GPU unchanged.

Questions to settle before ordering

  • What are the graphics card’s exact length, height and slot thickness, and do those measurements include the power connector and cable bend?
  • Which CPU cooler and motherboard are installed, and what clearance remains around the socket, memory and side panel?
  • What power-supply model and cable type are used, and is there a specified routing method for the GPU lead?
  • What stress tests are run, for how long, and what temperatures or stability checks are recorded?
  • Does the two-year warranty cover parts and labour for the entire system, and is it return-to-base service?
  • Who pays freight for a warranty claim, and how is damage in transit handled?

Cataclysm Computers: a custom quote to investigate

What its service page promises

Cataclysm says it works with the customer to specify a system, builds each machine by hand in Melbourne, stress-tests it and ships Australia-wide free. The page states that every build carries a three-year warranty. For approved warranty repairs, it says the company arranges and pays courier costs in both directions.

The same page gives a usual starting point of about AUD 2,000 and an average order-to-built time of approximately five business days. It also warns that lead times may be as short as one or two days or extend to two or three weeks when the workshop is busy. Those are broad custom-build figures, not a guaranteed Mini-ITX schedule.

What is not established

The page does not show a dedicated SFF catalogue, a named Mini-ITX chassis, a current small-case parts list or an SFF-specific price. Present Cataclysm as a builder worth contacting for a tailored quote, not as a verified SFF specialist. Request a written proposal that names every part and states whether the quoted price includes operating-system setup, assembly, testing, shipping and any configuration fee.

How to make its quote comparable

Send the same requirements to every builder: target games and resolution, maximum case dimensions, preferred side-panel material, storage capacity, wireless networking, noise priorities and upgrade plans. Ask Cataclysm to quote a specific Mini-ITX case and to document graphics-card clearance, cooler height, power-supply format and expected temperatures. Only then can its approximately AUD 2,000 starting point be compared with another machine; a starting price alone is not comparable to BYB’s fully specified AUD 4,499 system.

Other Australian leads and how to treat them

Evolve Gaming PC

Evolve Gaming PC documents custom sleeved cables made in Australia and repair work that includes water cooling, graphics-card servicing, thermal-pad replacement and repasting. Those services may help an owner who needs cable work or maintenance, but the opened page does not identify a named SFF gaming system. Cable customisation is therefore a supporting-service lead, not evidence that Evolve is a top SFF builder.

Names appearing in secondary roundups

A title-matched secondary comparison mentions Aftershock PC, Reload PC, Mwave, Scorptec, BPC and Crox. Its rankings and claims about SFF products, prices, warranties and review totals were not checked against primary builder pages here. Use those names only as prompts for your own verification. Do not treat a roundup’s superlative, product listing or warranty statement as proof that a currently orderable SFF configuration exists.

Trustpilot also indicated that the company had not recently invited customers to review and cautioned that reviews may not be representative. That is a platform snapshot, not a controlled assessment of SFF build quality, thermal behaviour or after-sales performance.

The SFF specification checklist

Ask for a complete bill of materials rather than accepting labels such as “high-end GPU” or “premium power supply.” The following checks prevent the most expensive surprises.

1. Case and physical limits

  • Record the case’s exact model, external dimensions and internal layout.
  • Measure the shelf, cabinet or desk opening, including rear cable space and ventilation clearance.
  • Confirm which panels are removable and whether the chosen configuration requires a particular orientation.
  • Ask for the graphics card’s length, height and slot thickness, including the space needed for its power plug.
  • Check CPU-cooler height, radiator support, fan thickness and motherboard-side clearance.

2. Core components

  • CPU model and power limits
  • GPU manufacturer, model, memory capacity and dimensions
  • Mini-ITX motherboard model and rear-I/O layout
  • Memory capacity, number of modules and rated speed
  • SSD brand, model and capacity
  • Power-supply model, wattage, efficiency rating and physical format
  • Case fans, CPU cooler and any included fan controller

Exact model numbers matter because two cards sold under the same GPU name can have different heatsinks, connector locations and thicknesses. A builder should confirm compatibility in writing rather than asking you to rely on a generic manufacturer maximum.

3. Cooling and noise validation

Ask what testing is actually performed. Useful answers identify the software or workload, duration, ambient conditions and pass criteria. “Stress-tested” is meaningful only when the builder can explain what was tested and whether the machine remained stable without excessive temperatures, throttling or fan noise. Do not convert a builder’s stated test into an independent benchmark.

4. Upgrade and service access

Find out whether a second SSD can be added, how many memory slots remain free, whether the power supply can support a future GPU and which panels must be removed for routine cleaning. In very compact layouts, an upgrade can require partial disassembly or a different cable set. Have the builder describe that process before you buy.

How to compare two quotes without fooling yourself

  1. Normalise the parts list. Put CPU, GPU, motherboard, memory, storage, power supply, cooler, case and operating system in separate rows. Reject vague substitutions unless the builder lists the exact replacement model.
  2. Normalise the physical specification. Record each chassis’ external dimensions and each GPU’s length, height and thickness. Include connector and cable-clearance requirements.
  3. Normalise the delivered price. Add shipping, assembly or configuration charges and any optional operating-system fee. Keep promotional or one-time prices labelled as such.
  4. Record the test statement. Note the workload, duration and checks the builder actually names. Leave independent performance claims out when no controlled benchmark exists.
  5. Record warranty mechanics. Capture term length, covered parts and labour, exclusions, return-to-base or on-site procedure, diagnostic responsibility and freight payment.
  6. Record logistics. Ask where the system ships, the estimated build and dispatch window, packaging method and what happens if the case or glass arrives damaged.
  7. Record support promises. Confirm who answers compatibility questions, whether future upgrades can be installed and how a replacement part is authorised.

Only after these fields are filled should you compare totals. A cheaper quote with a smaller SSD, lower-tier power supply, shorter warranty or unpriced shipping is not a cheaper equivalent.

Buying from Sydney or elsewhere in Australia

A Sydney buyer may value local collection or easier drop-off, but location alone does not prove better service. BYB’s page says the listed system is built and tested in Sydney. Cataclysm says its builds are made in Melbourne and shipped Australia-wide free. Ask whether collection, diagnosis and warranty returns are handled at the workshop or exclusively by courier.

For interstate delivery, clarify who carries the risk while the machine is in transit, how the graphics card is supported inside the case and whether the packaging can be reused for a warranty return. A compact PC can be more sensitive to a displaced card or damaged side panel because components sit close together.

Warranty and after-sales questions that change the real cost

Warranty duration is only one line in the agreement. Obtain written answers to these points:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Does coverage include the GPU, power supply, storage and fans, or only labour?
  • Is a failed component repaired, replaced with an equivalent, or refunded?
  • Who pays diagnostic and return freight when the fault is confirmed?
  • What happens if the problem cannot be reproduced?
  • Are user-installed upgrades allowed, and can they affect coverage?
  • How are dead-on-arrival systems and transit damage reported, and within what time window?
  • Are data recovery, operating-system reinstallation and shipping insurance included?

Cataclysm’s stated arrangement for approved warranty repairs—courier costs paid both ways—is unusually useful because freight can be significant for a heavy, carefully packed PC. Confirm the approval process and exclusions. BYB’s page advertises a two-year warranty; ask for the complete written terms, including freight responsibility.

What the available prices do and do not tell you

The two published figures sit at different points in the buying process. BYB’s AUD 4,499 is attached to a named Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5070 Ti 16GB, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD and Fractal Terra configuration. Cataclysm’s approximately AUD 2,000 is a usual starting point for custom systems without a published SFF parts list. It is not valid to subtract one from the other and call the difference an SFF premium.

For a meaningful value comparison, request matching memory, storage, GPU class, case, cooling standard and warranty coverage. Also date every quote. The BYB price was observed on 13 October 2026, while component availability and shipping terms can change after that date.

A practical purchase sequence

  1. Define the space. Measure the intended location and write down the maximum width, depth and height, plus ventilation and cable room.
  2. Define the workload. Specify the games, target resolution, refresh rate and whether the PC will also encode video, run virtual machines or serve as a workstation.
  3. Choose the case first. Do not select a GPU or cooler until the chassis and its clearance rules are fixed.
  4. Request exact quotes. Ask BYB for confirmation that the listed configuration and price remain current. Ask Cataclysm whether it will quote a Mini-ITX build using your chosen case.
  5. Check fit in writing. Get the builder to confirm GPU, cooler, motherboard, power-supply and cable compatibility.
  6. Check validation. Ask what stress tests and burn-in checks are performed and what documentation accompanies delivery.
  7. Read the warranty. Pay particular attention to freight, exclusions, user upgrades and transit damage.
  8. Confirm schedule and shipping. Obtain a realistic build and dispatch estimate rather than relying on a generic “in stock” label.
  9. Save the final specification. Keep the invoice, parts list, serial numbers, warranty terms and packaging instructions.
  10. Inspect on arrival. Photograph the carton before opening, check for loose components or panel damage and report shipping problems promptly under the seller’s stated procedure.

Bottom line for an Australian SFF buyer

Start with BYB if you want a documented Mini-ITX reference system and are comfortable verifying that its dated AUD 4,499 listing, parts and two-year warranty are still current. Contact Cataclysm if you want a consultation-led build, but require a Mini-ITX-specific quote before treating it as an alternative; its published approximately AUD 2,000 starting figure and five-business-day average are general custom-build guidance. Evolve is relevant for cable and repair work, not a verified complete SFF system.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The safest choice is the builder that supplies the clearest chassis and component measurements, explains its cooling validation, gives a like-for-like delivered price and puts warranty freight and lead time in writing. The available evidence does not support a national “top builder” ranking or a performance winner, so make the decision on those documented terms rather than on an unverified superlative.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
