The Ausclimate WDH-070EBP is a compressor dehumidifier rated to remove 50 litres of water per day only under the manufacturer’s test condition of 30°C and 80% relative humidity. It offers an 8 L tank, continuous drainage and an automatic pump-out option, but CHOICE lists the model as discontinued. Its rated capacity is not a guarantee of what it will collect in a cooler or drier room, and CHOICE’s detailed test scores are not public.
What the WDH-070EBP is—and what its rating means
CHOICE categorizes the WDH-070EBP as a refrigeration, or compressor, dehumidifier. The manufacturer information sheet calls it the “SUPREME all-seasons 50L dehumidifier.” The stated extraction rate is 50 L/day at 30°C and 80% relative humidity, a specific warm, humid test condition—not an expected daily yield in every home. In cooler or drier air, actual water removal can be lower. CHOICE’s public listing gives the claimed capacity and operating range, but its detailed measured water-removal, energy-efficiency, ease-of-use and power results require member access.

The manufacturer information sheet recommends the unit for rooms up to 105 m² or 260 m³. CHOICE also lists a recommended room size of 105 m² and an operating range of 5–32°C. These are manufacturer/listing guidance, not proof that the unit will maintain a particular humidity throughout a space of that size; room layout, air circulation, moisture load and temperature all matter.

Published specification documents do not fully agree: one surfaced sheet lists 900 W and R-410A refrigerant, while another gives 760 W and R290. Do not treat either power draw or refrigerant as definitive for every WDH-070EBP. Check the rating label and manual for the specific unit or revision before using those figures to compare operating costs or service requirements. Drainage: tank, gravity hose or pump-out
The 8 L tank is straightforward where the unit can be checked and emptied regularly. During sustained operation, it will need attention when full. For a continuous drain, the hose must run downhill to a suitable drain: the retailer’s manual guidance says this arrangement relies on gravity, so it does not pump water uphill. The separate auto pump-out option is listed with a 5 m hose; follow the manual’s setup instructions for that mode rather than assuming the gravity-drain hose is powered.
For a recurring damp-room or laundry setup, consider where the water can safely go before positioning the unit. A tank avoids routing a hose but requires manual emptying; continuous gravity drainage reduces that task if a lower drain is available; pump-out is intended for setups where the specified pump arrangement is needed. How well does it dry rooms and laundry?
The headline 50 L/day figure indicates capacity under warm, very humid conditions. It should not be read as a daily collection forecast for an ordinary bedroom, cooler home or indoor laundry. If comparing it with another dehumidifier, compare extraction figures measured at the same temperature and humidity, and consider the room’s moisture load, usable drainage, energy results and noise—not just the largest advertised litres-per-day number.
The manufacturer lists clothes-drying use, and owner accounts include positive reports of moisture removal and laundry drying. Those accounts suggest some owners find the unit useful, but they are not controlled tests and cannot establish how quickly it will dry a particular load or room.

Noise, reliability and owner feedback
The manufacturer information sheet lists 55 dBA. That figure is useful for comparison, but it does not by itself predict how intrusive the unit will sound in a bedroom or shared living space; placement and individual sensitivity matter. CHOICE lists two fan speeds, while its detailed ease-of-use and performance scores are not publicly available.
Owner feedback is mixed. ProductReview.com.au showed 4.5 stars from 74 reviews when accessed in 2026; reviews include praise for moisture removal as well as reports of noticeable noise, leaks, starting faults and delayed support. Appliances Online showed a separate 4.6 average from 45 reviews in the surfaced listing. Both ratings are mutable snapshots from self-selected reviewers, not failure rates or representative reliability studies.

One ProductReview user described seeing water drip when moving the unit despite the removed tray appearing dry. That is an individual report, not evidence of a general defect. If water appears around a particular unit, stop and check whether the tank is seated correctly, whether water spilled during movement, and whether the hose or outlet is connected as the manual specifies. If leakage continues, avoid operating it where water could damage flooring or electrics and contact the seller or service provider.

CHOICE marks the WDH-070EBP discontinued, so this review cannot establish that a new unit is currently available or that any remaining-stock seller offers meaningful repair support. Check the precise model, condition, seller’s return terms and warranty applying to that individual purchase. CHOICE’s public listing states a two-year warranty; Ausclimate’s warranty information is available at Ausclimate warranty information. Confirm coverage directly for the seller and unit rather than assuming the listed period applies to every second-hand or old-stock purchase.

If you find one, judge it against your specific needs: a compressor unit with a substantial rated extraction capacity, multiple drainage options and laundry-drying mode may suit a warm, humid space, but its actual output depends on conditions and its listed noise and footprint deserve consideration. Compare current alternatives using matched extraction conditions, energy measurements, operating temperature, drainage, noise, warranty and service availability. Do not infer superiority from the nominal 50 L/day rating alone.
